I work in a general store as a cake decorator... and i need to make a point to all you cake buyers.

1. My Cake Education: i spend a week of 40 hours with the best cake decorator our store has to offer... that is the extent of my cake decorating education everything else i learn how to do is based off of personal experience. I am not an artist. I did not go to a school or have an apprenticeship. I have only been a cake decorator for a year. What i do is craft not art. I have not be taught human anatomy so no i can't draw that picture of your aunt on a cake... and if i could i would be making more than 7.50 and hour. if you want your aunt on a cake take your a** to the yellowpage website and look up professional cake decoration.

2. OUR CAKES COME IN FROZEN! they are as fresh as i damn well make you. if you want a cake that is made fresh for you again go to a specialty cake store. But seriously a good cake can freeze up to 6 months. we don't keep our cakes that long but most culinary bakers will tell you that you can freeze cake up to that long.

3. Wedding cakes. does it look like i have enough space back here to do a wedding cake without brutally mutilating it? yeah that's right

4. stop trying to get your $15 cake for free. don't make me feel like crap because you want your cake for free. don't tell me that my flower are 2 shades to light and that i ruined your husbands birthday just because the colors are to dark or to light or that i put a balloon in a strange place... ITS A GODDAMN CAKE. just take it home, light the candles, blow them out, and eat the cake. its food not a piece of art. your going to eat it. and if my hand writing is too girly you go grab some icing from the baking ailse and write on the cake yourself... oh it looks like chicken scratch... yeah that's right you need me to write on your cake cause you can't even master that small of a motor skill.

My MIL decorates cakes, she used to own her own cake shop before the owners of her building screwed everything for her by starting to work on the building, condemning it to make cakes in. Then kicking her out...

Cakes can be a work of art. I like doing cakes that somewhat appear to be off the Ace of Cakes... O_O have you ever tried working with Fondant!?!

that stuff is a bitch.

But, you work in a general store bakery...People can't expect it to be like getting it from a physical cake store. You know? Like a bakery?

People will always complain, I don't sell cakes so I don't know any good stories.. lol.

Im sure my MIL has some stories..but she, claiming to be a good Christian, really keeps all those to herself.

Ahh i guess next time i will blog this i was just flustered that people think that i should be able to decorate cakes like someone from ace of cakes when i am just a general store cake decorator

I love cakes! I bet you'd love me as your customer then. I'm not picky at all, a cake is truly just a cake, you eat it in the end, and as long as the frosting on it is sweet and delicious, I'll buy it. Just as long as it's not one of those European cakes my fiancee loves... ugh things drowning in syrup and TOO sweet is where i draw the line, my blood can't take it and i get massive headaches, or just too hyper to keep myself calm ._.;; and a sugar-hyped up Riken is definitely bad for the world.
