Even the vampires were quiet, the dark sky and fluffy snow blanketing the entire city. The glittering sky scrappers were slightly gothic in their architecture, the many windows and curved stone bringing to mind days long past. Only the occasional car easily going over the faintly dusted streets breaking the image of some fanciful, medieval kingdom. It was little wonder that this was considered a place where fantasy and reality met, where past and present came together. Then again….considering the age of half the ruling vampires, what else would one expect?
Still, something broke the silence as a car door slammed and a young woman was thrown out of the back of a van. As the van disappeared the woman lay unconscious a moment, her unnatural hair curling around her form and leaning in the snow. If the pale white pink locks with vivid turquoise highlights were not clear enough to reveal, however, that this ‘human’ girl was not so human anymore the back of her black dress tore as metallic bone like wings drew painfully from her back. The cybernetics began taking hold, her soft cry released as a few drops of blood were sent flying from her back and a tail unbound from her waist.
She moaned softly in pain, violet eyes slowly opening as she became slightly conscious. She looked at the snow, shivering slightly as she found she was even more sensitive to the cold then before. What….what had happened. Her hands gripped the cold snow, her muscles momentarily to weak to stand. She could remember nothing and just lay in the snow a moment, the cold wind making her shiver….

Iggy wandered through the snow aimlessly, gazing around at his surroundings, his mouth twisted into a sneer of contempt. The archaic abominations that stood out from the snowy wasteland made him shiver at the horrid architecture. He hated this place. It's unnatural scape made his blood boil at the destruction of a place which was once so peaceful and beautiful. He knew his kinsmen had no honor, or value for serenity. Iggy had been a vampire since before they had come into power. He had been turned in the first reckoning, and he had seen the scum which had called themselves children of the night.
He walked through the snow, heading to the outskirts, when he saw a figure lying in the snow, two metallic wings spread from its back. "Fuck" Iggy said, stopping and then turning his path to the Cyborg. "They've dumped another one." Iggy raised his fist, a crooked blade flying from his sleeve, and as he looked at the girl, he felt a pang of distant memory. This girl reminded him of his sister. He grunted, pained at the memory of his sister, and sheathed his blade. He would have to spare her life.
(I g2g to drama practice now. Be back in a few hours.. :/))

Her violet orbs raised upwards as she heard him approach, watching him a moment. She gripped the snow tighter as she saw the blade, her eyes briefly closing as she felt certainty she would die. Her newly changed body was not yet in sync with her mind, she was helpless for the moment. Still … nothing came and she found herself still breathing.
Opening her vivid eyes once more she looked at him once more, managing to pull herself up to her knees wobbly. She could barely comprehend it, not sure what this man wanted….then a memory dimly fell into place… Not a man, a vampire…. Was that bad? She couldn’t remember….. She couldn’t remember much of anything… Just that this was a vampire and she was not….so she was in danger.
She couldn’t help a little fear entering her gaze, as she just barely managed to stand. She appeared roughly 18 but her age….she didn’t know. She wanted to flee but instead fell right into him, gripping his shirt slightly in shock. Her body….something had changed… many things had changed. She then asked half to herself and half to him the one question that if she’d been able to remember she’d known she’d been asking the past few weeks with no answer…… “Why?”

The woman stood weakly. It was a miracle that she had the energy to stand when she was so early from being released, and she fell into Iggy. Iggy grabbed her as she fell into him, and wrapped her into his coat, he could hear more vampires. He could feel reamers coming closer. ((Is the idea of vampires that have completely given into their animalistic side a good idea? Reamers?)) "Fuck." He cursed under his breath, unsure of what he should do. He pondered leaving her to die for a moment, feeling her helpless, unnatural body tremble in his arms, but pity surged through him. He did not wish this Cyborg to die. Against his better judgment, Iggy carried the woman away. They were going to his home.

The violet eyed woman let out a gasp as he picked her up, gripping him for a moment as she looked towards the reamers. Biting her lip she wasn’t so sure why they made her feel so scared but they did, and it caused her to closer her eyes. She was fearful of the one holding her but even more fearful of the ones behind so simply held to him. The fragile seeming creature was unsure, but she was too weak to protest…so stayed quiet . He hadn’t answered her she realized….not that she’d expect him too….

They dashed through the snow, weaving in and out of the archaic structures. He looked down at the girl, the pity had not faded. Her deep violet eyes shone artificially, but a deep sadness and fear emanated from them. "Do not fear me." He said harshly, trying to be reassuring. "I'm not the one who did this to you." He stopped quickly, sidestepping into an alley. He was quite sure that they had lost the reamers, but there was no telling with things like this. "I cannot tell you why this was done to you." He looked to the sky sadly. "But I can tell you that it has happened. There is no reason for you to feel sorry for yourself, what has happened can not be undone. You are what you are, and you need to make the best of what you are." He recited these words. Words that he had told himself over endless nights, and he had tried to live by, but never truly believed. He looked at the girl in his arms seriously. "I will protect you." And he set off again toward his home.

Violet, for lack of any other name for she could not remember hers, looked up at him. She began to understand he was protecting her but what she didn’t understand was why. She remembered very little, but she did remember he was supposed to think of her as food as in her head she was still human. As he spoke of not fearing him she merely nodded, trying not to look concerned as her hair waved around them both in the light wind. Perhaps he was not to be feared….but what of the others? Just what had been done to her?
Protect her? She hoped so…. She could vaguely remember pain and the sound of machines in the background… someone was planning something…something bad…but she couldn’t remember what and she felt her mind confused. Was what she was remembering real? It seemed so strange…so impossible….
Shivering slightly she looked towards his home, hoping they would get there soon as she held him. She bit her lip, finally voicing a question as she began to come a little more focused….her mind a little clearer. “What….what has been done to me?” She asked quietly, just now beginning to notice that she had a metallic thin tail and strange wing like forms on her back. What was she?

"You have been changed." he said as they stopped at the front of his home, an old mansion, not castle style, but just cultured. "Whoever did this to you, has completely recreated your bone structure, hair, and many of your organs, although I do not know completely." He put her down, feet to the ground, but did not let go of her shoulders, helping her to stand. "They have removed your memories, and your kind are immune to vampirism." He looked into her eyes, and frowned. "What they have done to you is a monstrosity, but you are not a monster." This is something that he truly believed. "Now come in, you need a rest." He opened the front gate with a wave of his hand, keeping an arm around her for support.

Changed… Yes, that was clear. She looked at her hands, noting that her nails had a slightly metallic sheen now….She wasn’t human any more. She stifled a fearful reaction, closing her eyes a moment. Restructured? The idea made her feel sick but she knew it was true….it was why her body wasn’t responding like it should…why even breathing seemed different then before.
As he spoke to her she leaned on him heavily for support, her mind still reeling. Why would someone do this? How… She felt his gaze then and looked back into his eyes, her own gaze filled with a strange mix of defiance and sheer terror…mixed with a little bit of sadness. Whoever she was before… she knew then that she could never be again. That, she observed bitterly, is probably what her memories had been removed to ensure….
Leaning on him as she held close and stumbled next to him she spoke softly, her gaze on the ground. “I…Thank you…Why did you help me though? You could have killed me….or left me for dead.” She thought aloud, curiosity overtaking her. She figured it was better to focus on that then whatever she had become…

"Could have I?" He said with a blank look, as if he were questioning himself. "I guess I could have. But I wouldn't. You do not deserve to die. You have never wronged me." He looked down with a dark smile. "You're lucky you caught me in a pitying mood. Others haven't been so lucky." He smiled, but felt deep remorse ring through his mind. He had killed innocents before, and he undoubtedly would again. They went through his front door, and a warm air blew through him. He liked to keep warm. He could not feel the warmth in the way that he once could, but it helped him remember his humanity. He often felt the memory of the warmth, and that comforted him.

Even as he spoke the darker words at the end didn’t seem to surprise her… she’d seen the blade and known that for a moment he was intending to do take her life. She could only sigh at it, deciding to count it as a bit of good luck in a terrible string of bad. She was too tired and too confused to think harder on it, unaware that some might want to use her to find out more about her ’kind’.
As she felt the warmth she shivered a little and let out a gasp as it touched the cold metal now inside her delicate appearing form. She couldn’t help but walk in a little faster, rubbing her own arms as she felt the air on her especially cold back. Never had she felt so cold…. Or warmth feel so good. She turned to look at the vampire, her eyes half closed and her body shivering as it began to warm up a little. “Thank you…. For the warmth… I’ve never been so cold….” She said softly, not understanding why the cold had penetrated her as never before....

"Don't mention it. Your metal structure absorbs the cold quite dramatically. You might want to remember that for later." Iggy let go of her, as she began to walk for herself. He stopped for awhile, thinking of where his guest should stay. He had plenty of rooms, so it was quite a choice. He then realised that the girl probably had no name. "What would you like me to call you, by the way? If you have a preferance, that is." He smiled at her warmly, and sympathetically. He has had plenty of names throughout his escpecially long life, and he knew the feeling of being without one.

Metal body structure? She thought to herself, reaching back to pick up the whip like tail behind her and look at it and her tattered cloths. Yes… she didn’t even know her body anymore did she? But he knew as he said it that it was true… some of her body was metal, some human flesh and the combination was bound to make the human flesh react…
Sighing she dropped the tail and tried not to react, tried not to panic… She then heard him speak, rubbing one arm where the skin was especially cold. Call her? She had no idea… she couldn’t remember her name so she simply smiled sadly and shrugged softly. “Just… not something ugly I guess” She said with a soft, sad laugh, beginning to look around curiously. This….this would be her new life, her new body….she couldn’t let herself feel so sad….so like she was missing something…

He looked at her for a second and smiled. "Elyssa. I've always loved the name Elyssa." Zephyr remembered little from his childhood, but he did remember the name Elyssa. It seemed to fit. "So, Elyssa!" He bowed to her deeply, as a formality. "Wouldst you like to dine?" He thought for a second, realizing that he had no idea whether she ate. He stood up straight, and a little awkwardly. "Do you eat?"

Elyssa… yes that sounded very nice to her ears and actually caused a simple genuine smile to cross her lips. She nodded her approval, glancing down towards her hands and the strange silver nails a moment. At least her name was pretty now, but what about the rest of her? How much had changed? She wondered it inwardly but said nothing until he spoke.
She shifted a moment and ran a hand through her stripped hair, blushing a moment as she said a soft “I…think I do. I feel hungry so I’d imagine I must.” She mused the thoughts aloud, touching a fingertip to her lips in thought. She wasn’t sure but…part of her was sure she did still….even machines needed energy, why not get it from the electric current created in the biological half? It made sense…

He smiled at her, and directed her to the dining hall, which used to contain a great table spanning from one side of the room to the other. Now there was just an average four legged table. He found the larger table... Rude. "I'll be back with some food in a minute." Iggy walked to the kitchen, and picked a pair of salads out from the refrigerator. One of the was meant to be for tomorrow, but it was ok. He had to go to the market some time anyway. He poked his head out to the hall, and asked with a friendly tone, "What would you like to drink?" He wondered whether she would remember her favorite drink. Usually many of those types of memories remained.

She returned the smile, beginning to feel a little more at ease as the warmth reached the metal in her form. She found herself feeling a little more calm too, knowing she was safe though she was perplexed as to why. Though her memory was gone she still retained the basic instinct of a human in this world to fear vampires… but this one…seemed different. She let herself be led, dismissing the thought, as she sat down at the table. She didn’t know why she was so hungry….then again she used more energy now and needed more food…not that she realized it.
What to drink? Now this was a question though she honestly wasn’t sure at first. Then she felt one word swim to mind, her hands feeling slightly warmer at the thought. “D…do you have tea? …if not water’s okay…” She finally said. Elyssa, as she was now named, then sat back though her new wings made it difficult and began to look around, knowing somehow that she wasn’t use to a place like this….but something smaller…simpler.

He walked into the dining room with a salad and a steaming tea in hand. "There you go." He said with a smile, and then he retreated into the kitchen, and came back with a salad and a glass of red liquid. "Bon Appetit." He said while sitting down, and he put his fork down into the salad, putting a single piece of lettuce into his mouth, and washing it down with a quick gulp of his drink.

Elyssa smiled warmly at the tea, placing her hands around the cup slightly. Holding it this way… feeling the steam rise to tickle at her lips…it felt familiar and warm. Kind of like an old teddy bear might feel…She tried to pursue the memory but finding she could not she simply let out a small bit of breath on the tea to cool it and let her heart wrap itself in the pleasant and familiar warmth. She took a deep sip, finally relaxing and beginning to feel like maybe it would all be okay….
As he entered she glanced at the red substance but didn’t say anything, inwardly musing on what it could be as she began to eat her salad. “Thank you…” She repeated, yet again, a smile on her face. She couldn’t quite remember why but for some reason seeing the red liquid made her think of something dark…like blood. It took her a few minutes for her to remember it was because vampires drank blood… She blinked at the thought but continued to nibble wordlessly at the salad, trying not to think of anything too morbid…

As Iggy ate, he saw a slightly uncomfortable look on Elyssa's face. He ignored it. He felt a memory rise in his mind that he hadn't thought of for a long time, and he looked up, with a slightly sad look in his eye. "It's not human blood." He told her truthfully. He never fed on human blood unless absolutely necessary, or he deemed the human unworthy of life. His morbid memories filled his mind, and he put his hand to his head. He hated his memories. His memories were lessons learnt, and lessons that he did not particularly enjoy. He stood up from the table, skulling his drink from the glass, and pushing his chair backward. "You can sleep anywhere you wish." He turned and started toward the door.

“Oh…” Was all she could think to reply to the comment of human blood, having not realized that she was so obvious in her thoughts. Still…it wasn’t like she could blame him…he had to eat …even if the idea of her or someone she cared about being dinner made her shiver. She felt a slight guilt, however, as she saw the sadness. He was trying to help her…she didn’t want him to feel sad because of it.
“Hey… you never told me your name….” She interrupted as he began to leave, standing a little as she watched after him. She felt a little lost in a place like this and she doubted that she could really find a room…but she didn’t want to say so. Instead she merely observed he’d never told her a name, figuring she’d find a room…eventually.

"Didn't I?" Iggy looked to the ground sadly. "I'll have to get around to that." He said, his voice low. He was surprised at the question of his name, as he didn't even remember his real name, and had never really known someone who didn't just refer to him by his rank. He walked to the front door of the house. He remembered back to a time when he had been captured by a human resistance to be experimented on, the event which had made him so highly regarded in the vampire society. A man who was missing all his teeth and a broken mind had been given to him as food. He had thought he was a related to him, a child, a friend, an enemy. He didn't know who, but the man had called him Iggy.
He turned back to Elyssa, "You can call me Iggy." He said, with a certain sadness to it, then he spread his wings, and flew off, not straying too far from the mansion, but sure that the reamers would be near. He needed to let off some steam.

Elyssa nodded at the name but sighed as he flew off. Absently she finished what remained of her food and drink, beginning to explore the mansion. It was odd to her… but her mind was mainly on the one who’d just left. He seemed sad…
Shaking her head she rounded a corner, beginning to play with her hair. She braided it in a nervous habit, still thinking of Iggy and likely getting lost. She was slightly worried about something but couldn’t understand what, feeling as if time was important…. It was probably nothing, she told herself other then worry about the vampire….which was silly she knew.

Iggy swooped down onto the reamers below, and brutally beheaded them with his long blade. He stood over the headless bodies, his pain remaining. He wiped the blood from his blade and his hands on the motionless body of the ex-reamer. He looked down at the body, feeling anger well up inside himself. "You are monsters." He said through gritted teeth. He kicked the bodies violently, and his anger filled his stomach and his mind. He screamed out with brutal fury, and his foot stopped just before the body. He fell to his knees, memories haunting his dark mind. "No." He said desperately. He grabbed his head and began to cry. "I am the monster." He steeled himself, stopping the tears and swallowing the anger. He couldn't show weakness, not out here, not after all he had worked for. He wiped away the tears. "I will live." He flew back to the house, stepping through the front door, and heading to his room.

He would find an interesting surprise. Elyssa had wandered on into exhaustion clueless of what he was doing, finally stumbling into the first bed she found….which unfortunately for Iggy was his. She lay as she had collapsed, her belly facing down and her arms outstretched slightly. She hadn’t even bothered with blankets, not having stayed awake long enough. Faint breathing came from under her pale pink and vivid blue hair.
