As some of us start worrying and stressing about everyday life, most of us develop insomnia. This 'heavenly' curse, keeps us wide awake, drains our energy and keeps us from functioning 100% as the day progresses. As annoying as it can be I usually tend to use that 'curse' and change it around 180 degrees.

So far I've used it to work on college projects, work on my 3-year old story (slowly progressing, but good writing takes time and inspiration :3) uhh.. chores around my apartment, and random gaming time here and there.

What do most of you do IF you have insomnia, or if you've never had it, what would you do? Half of the time I truly hate it, but somewhat feel satisfied that i used up all of my day doing the things i had to do, even if it's costing me years out of my life ._. Curse you insomnia!! But personally, it makes me value the simple things in life more.

I have developed insomnia lately and have struggled with it since my preteen years. I have anxiety though, which causes my insomnia, I hate it some nights, but have gotten used to it for the most part. Sometimes I read until I crash, but it takes forever. I really can't say anything helps me (besides a sleep aid, but you can't take those often. I only took one the night my bf dumped me so I could sleep and not cry.) But hang in there.

I've had had insomnia on and off for about 5 years now. You're right about one thing, stress DOES induce insomnia...atleast for me. Whenever my days are very stressful, I find that I cannot sleep at nights because I either yearn for the peace and quiet of nightlife or because my mind is so full of thoughts that I can't keep it quiet enough for me to sleep.

There's also a saying that those people that are born at night-time, usually are not morning people. I was born at 1:33 AM so it's obvious that I hate the mornings, like the afternoons, love dusk and the evenings, and am extremely hyper at night.

Because I was born a night owl and will die as a night owl, I cannot fathom the idea of waking up every morning for work. Hence why I'm always looking for evening/graveyard shifts as I'm more alert and hyper during those times regardless of my insomnia.

On days when I don't have insomnia, I have hypersomnia and cannot go through the day without sleeping atleast 13 hours or maybe more.

@Leenalia: You have just described me! Except for the fact that I was born at 1 PM and slept all day -_-"

Anyways, I'm not really sure if I have insomnia or just bad sleeping habits. Sometimes I can't fall asleep, sometimes I can't stop myself from falling asleep and I can't stay awake. At night I'm more active and feel like I have so much energy, but during hot or even just warm days I feel drained. Anyone got any idea why?

I deal with it when I can't sleep by listening to calming music so that, even if it doesn't help, it will at least pass the time faster. I've heard some people drink warm milk, herbal tea or Resue Remedy (it's a herbal tablet used to lower anxiety, if you take the amount on the bottle it will help without putting you in danger, I usually take just one if my "insomnia" is really bad.)

I hope that helps you! =3 Remember that if you do things that relieve stress during the day (like using a stress ball or writing in a journal) or just make sure you're more tired (excerising more maybe?) you'll probably feel more like you can actually fall asleep.

i don't have insomnia, but i do have a baby keeping me up half the night. last night, he kept me up until 3:30 in the morning. worse i had got up at 8 the morning before, so i was so exhausted! so far today, i haven't been able to function properly. luckily, there isn't much i have to do, but it's still hard doing everything. for example, i'm apparently having a lot of trouble typing cuz, just with this reply, i've probably deleted something about 50 times! :p

When I get insomnia I try and do relaxing stuff which I enjoy from my bed to try and relax myself to go to sleep. However Ive found that most of the time nothing works so I end up not sleeping or sleeping very little. What might work is if you go for a run or do some excercise, (I would but my area isn´t that safe at night) This would tire your body out and maybe it would help you fall asleep

Recently i began having problems about sleeping. I've been asking people how they fall asleep if they can't, but no matter how hard i try, i always end up falling asleep 2-3 hours before i have to wake up again, some days i don't sleep at all. It's really hard to concentrate with schoolwork and at work, but also, a lot of unhappy things happened in my life recently. It might be a side effect of my depression, so i really hope that i'll get out of it very soon. My eyes are all red now becuase of lack of sleep.

You could try exercise such as jogging. Id suggest it more during the day though. That way fatigue builds on your body a bit slower. Personally I cant run to make me tired cus running increases my energy for another hour and then Im just laying there thinking about doing more, but thats me, maybe jogging at night would benefit you though, just have to experiment. But when I have insomnia I usually read. If it doesnt put me right out then at least my mind is a bit rested. You could also try meditation. My brother used to meditate for like one or two hours at night and then attack the whole day as if he had a full nights rest. It does do wonders to the mind and body.
