I am looking for roleplaying partners that are either fans of this most excellent webcomic, or are interested in trying it out! I recommend that anyone who wants to apply for this roleplay familiarize themselves with Girl Genius Online Comics to get an idea of the world and the character types, but I'll briefly describe them below:

Spark - This is a person with the "spark" of creativity in them for Mad Science! Also known as Madboys (or Madgirls, girls are more rare as Sparks) A spark is a normal person who suddenly has a "breakthrough" and invents some wacky gadget (often with wild and unpredictable results). Transforming carnival wagons, the "perfect" coffee machine, various and sundry death rays, steam-powered mecha, and even the dreaded "Calming Pie" have been invented by Sparks.

Jagermonster - Essentially a super strong, super fast, (although not terribly smart) soldier type that looks vaguely vampiric, though the similarities end at having sharp teeth and claws, and a strange accent (probably because of the fangs).

Construct - This is your basic golem (like Frankenstein, but usually fully human intelligence and function), and many times people cannot tell them from human except for over-exaggerated stitch marks.

Clank/Doll - A robot, but more than that. Many of these, especially ones that have been made by very talented Sparks, have personalities not distinguishable from human emotions. Many have severe flaws, either physical (one of the most powerful ones cannot speak), or psychological (Von Pinn, arguably the most powerful of the human-sized Clanks is both overprotective of her charges as a nurse, and sociopathic towards anyone who gets in the way of her duties).

Some major characters are just good engineers/cooks/etc. and are what passes for normal human in Europa, but these are few and far between.

So, if any are interested, post here and I'll respond in PM with details on how I see this running.

The Plot! I'm setting this in the 15 year or so period where Agatha Heterodyne (known at this time as Agatha Clay) is growing up wearing the locket that kept her from having her breakthrough at too young an age, so it is before anything in the Girl Genius webcomic (with the exception of the Heterodyne stories where they flash back to the past).

The Baron hasn't yet fully implemented his dual programs of capturing or killing Sparks that don't fall into lockstep underneath him, and rounding up young Sparks and training them, so the danger isn't initially there for the Baron to show up guns blazing, but it may happen, especially if it is dramatically appropriate.

It is a mid-size town literally known as Nowhere (actually the name is Nulle Part, which is essentially nowhere in French), which goes of of their way to be unexceptional in every way. This is mainly due to the fact that both the mayor and his three children are all Sparks, and they want to keep off of the Baron's radar as long as possible. There are a few Jagers in town, ostensibly security, but mainly they just strut around scaring people. Normally, because of their somewhat collective consciousness they're not to be trusted with any information that the Baron would take interest in, but these Jagers, satisfied with their laid back post, rarely if ever make any sort of reports back to their superiors, and because of how unremarkable Nowhere is, it's not really seen as unusual.

Bio: Jaycee grew up as childhood friends with the oldest of the Mayor's children, Dustin Musselhoffer, but they haven't spoken since she showed him up at the Mayor's private science fair that he holds every year at the Mayor's manor. They broke through together when they created building blocks that built themselves into things at random. The blocks had to be destroyed because they started to (quite literally) block traffic in Nowhere.

Bio: Lucrecia had her breakthrough at age 12 and has been building things since. Her most prized invention is her miniature clank Rob. This is her only companion since she lost her family at age 13. Rob is a surprisingly intelligent clank whose intelligence is only matched by his hardheadedness. When she got to Nowhere she saw this as an opportunity to do some good with her spark. And also to hide from people who would be after her as a madgirl. Though if they were after her they would have a hard time beating her as she has invented a few "surprises" for those who try to come after her. You are more likely to find Lucrecia working on her next big project in her workshop than taking a walk down the street.

Bio: Fredrick is strange for a Jager. he's constantly tinkering with things that most Jagers would find frustrating or useless for making things blow up. He generally wonders around, talking to few people in his travels. it seems that most other Jagers don't like him.

Bio: Was created after her creator couldn't have children. When her creator died she walks alone and works alone as what you would call a lone wolf and does as she pleases. She has a couple flaws but some were tooken out to make her almost like a top of the line weapon. She may look human but she is just a robot with human emotions (sometimes)

Once you have an accepted character, it is ok to write out a starting post, explaining where you are and what you are doing once the game starts, but please end it up with your character being in Nowhere, as I, as the GM, have something in store for you all! Mwahahahahaha!

(I'm reading it now and might join this sounds interesting but FYI i leave sunday for 1 week vacation and won't be back until Jan.5/6th or that following weekend)

So, get to making your characters so we can start!

Lucrecia was working in her workshop in the northern part of town on her latest project an upgraded version of her breakthrough project. A large walking cannon. This upgrade would increase it's range by 5% and it's power by 16%. She had a wrench in one hand and an assistant clank who was essentially her extra hands as she worked in the shop. This clank whom was called assistant mark 3 was capable of lifting up to 5 tons yet was the size of an average human. He was also capable of running several maintenance procedures by itself when dependant upon the machine. Lucrecia finally finished tightening the last bolt and came up looking at it. "Ah there we are... I finally finished you're upgrade Doom" Incidentally her first breakthrough project was a doomsday machine that nearly destroyed a mountain that would have destroyed her town that she used to live in. But now it was more for her personal protection for the big problems. She had her asssitant droid for the domestic ones. Then there was Rob her best friend in the world and just as intelligent as any spark out there. Though he lacked the size for any projects. He was in the main house charging up with the portable solar charger she had made. She decided to head out of the workshop and into her house. As she walked out she noticed that it was morning... apparently she had been working all night... yet she wasn't even tired.

Fredrick yawned and rubbed at his eyes slightly looking down the road toward the next town. He scratched at his scalp a bit, sure that there were fleas and other bugs nesting, and not for the first time wished he could find someplace to have a nice hot shower. Stretching himself out he looked around and fixed his latest hat over his head to hide his horns. Granted his skin was still green and furry, but still...it helped somewhat. "Vell...letz go..." he muttered putting on his boots and grabbing his bag, marching his way toward the town in the distance.

Jaycee strode out of her house on her way down to Foster's for their lunch special. She didn't know what it was going to be, but she knew it would be better than anything she could cook for herself. As she passed the corner of Main and Heterodyne (every town had a corner of Main and Heterodyne), she noticed odd-colored sparks rising from the Mayor's house. "Hmm. Someone's experimenting again. I hope nothing catches on fire this time..." She commented out loud to no one in particular.

Arriving at Foster's she found it even more busy than usual, so she had to wait outside for a bit. Then, a man came out of the establishment and looked right at Jaycee. "Oh! You're here! I can really use your help inside!" The frantic proprietor practically drug Jaycee inside. She was sort of glad to be drug, because it put her ahead of that ghastly line.

"What is it, Mr. Foster?" Jaycee managed to sputter out as she was being brought behind the counter to the kitchen.

"It's my freezy engine. It broke this morning and all it does is... well you take a look!" he pointed to one corner of the kitchen, where the usual freezy machine was pouring steam from every opening. "It's boiling everything! I tried to adjust it but just burnt my hand!"

"Calm down, Mr. Foster, I've got this." She grabbed a thick set of pot holders and pulled a wrench from her tool belt. Approaching the machine she looked it over. "Here's your problem! You have the ramostat flux all wrong! It must have fallen off and someone reinstalled it backwards!" While she went to work on reinstalling the part, arguments ensued all across the kitchen until one of the sous-chefs admitted he was the one who reinstalled the part. Mr. Foster was about to fire the man on the spot when Jaycee finished. "There! And if you make another one of these machines, a bit smaller, I bet if you installed the ramostat flux upside down like this it would make just the right temperature for heavenly espresso!"

Mr. Foster stopped in mid-tirade. "Espresso, did you say?"

Words were exchanged, deals were made, and soon it was settled. Jaycee would make an espresso engine for Mr. Foster, and she could come in every day for the lunch special, on the house.

Who says there's no such thing as a free lunch?

Lucrecia walked into her house to see several mid small sized yet not miniature clanks some deactivated and some working. most of these were either clanks that have yet to be dismantled for parts. The others were for household chores to make time for her to work on her projects. Even as she walked through her house to activate her chef clank she was getting several ideas on some new creations. Some of them destructive and some of them helpful but all of them useful in some way. She activated her chef who went on her way to do the cooking. She gave all of her clanks genders even if they didn't look the part. She went over to her room just on the other side of her house to detach A miniature clank who was charging in from her solar charger that sat on her side table in the sun. The clank opened his eye and looked up at Lucrecia who was smiling at him. Lucrecia greeted him warmly "Morning Rob" Rob stood up and replied with a scottish accent "Gewd marnin Leucretza". Lucrecia lowered her hand to her side table and Rob climbed her arm to her shoulder and spoke in a friendly tone "Och Ah had dae wairdest dream" Lucrecia looked to the clank on her shoulder "Oh?" Rob leaned back and forth... his equivalent of nodding. Since he was a singular squar shape with limbs he couldn't nod very well. Rob went on "Yah... I was heuman sahzd... and we wair dayten." Lucrecia laughed "Well that is weird" Rob became ebarassed "Aye lass" Just then Lucrecia remembered some quick modifications she was going to do to Rob "Oh yeah I have to deactivate you for a bit" Rob jumped up "What?!... gev me a minut to wek up wha dontcha?" Lucrecia sighed "Alright... but hurry and wake up" she was eager to do these mods to Rob... maybe a little too eager which was what got Rob nervous. She had never intentionally broken him before but it was the memories of the times she had that he remebered and was nervous of. Soon though she got another idea "Shock GaUntleTs... it would be so easy... I wOuld jusT need a PorTable PowER source... yEs... ReaL EAsy" she was slipping into one of her mad moments as tended to happen to alot of sparks. Rob yelled in Lucrecia's ear "OOOOYYYYY!!!" Lucrecia snapped out of it and put her finger in her ear and twisted "Ow not so loud!" Rob replied "Sorreh... you wair slippen into one of your moments" she still twidted her finger in her ear "Thanks but you were still loud."

Fredrick looked up at the town he was approaching. it seemed rather dull, but then again that's how every town seemed unless it was where the Heterodyne castle was. He felt his stomach start to growl and he hoped that there was someplace that would serve Jagers in there without too much trouble. as he neared the gates he tried to look and act casual. ~Oh...yeah like zhat vill help.~

Tha-WOOM!

What followed that was a pattering not unlike rain, except this rain was stone and metal and wood from one of the towers of the mayor's manor. That sound was heard across the whole town of Nowhere. People rushed. Some away from the manor, some towards it. Guards hurriedly rushed around and looked for any sign of an attack. It was quickly resolved that this was some sort of internal matter.


Something very powerful had exploded and scattered the top of the east tower of the mayor's manner across most of the town of Nowhere.


Jaycee heard the explosion, followed by the rain of debris. "Sweet Lightning!" she exclaimed, but then her curiosity overcame her and she went outside to look. The mayor's manor! And that tower that's where...

"Dustin!" Jaycee exclaimed, running as fast as she could towards the manor, which wasn't very fast, there was general chaos in the town.


OK folks, time to respond.

Lucrecia heard the explosion and looked out the window to see debris landing everywhere. "Gotta see what that was... maybe I can help" as she got outside and looked in the general direction of the explosion she could see that it was coming from the mayors manor and upon looking closer she saw that it was a tower. "ooo maybe I can find some spare parts" Rob spoke up "Thair wahs an explooshun 'n awl ya can think abou is spair pahrts" Lucrecia snapped out of it "Yeah sorry... ASSISTANT" as she called out that name the same clank from inside the shop came out and stood beside Lucrecia. "Come we ave some work to do" The clank nodded and followed Lucrecia as she started to run toward the manor but keeping in the back of her head to grab spare parts as she saw them. Some people were freaking out and others could care less and some were going in her same direction though not at her same speed mostly.

"Vhat in Ze name of zparkz?!" Fredrick yelped covering his head as metal began to rain from the sky. he looked up in a mix of horror and curiosity at the smoking tower. a small grin passed over his fuzzy green face and he quickly ran toward the town. Maybe this time, this town wouldn't be boring...

Jaycee got to the base of the tower that had exploded, and looked around. She could tell from the wreckage, that Dustin was working on his Jagerlauncher again. She told him that there were problems with the compression ratio! Jaycee stopped a passing guard. "I think Dustin may have been in the explosion! I know the project he was working on and I can help! Please let's go to the top of the tower!"

The guard stammered a little bit, then said, "Ma'am, I am on fire control duty. The bottom door is ajar because of the explosion, feel free to go in." Before he finished she was racing up the stairs to look for Dustin.

A crackling noise issued from the tower. A strange glow began radiating from it as well. The guards had formed a fireline and were recruiting any people hanging around the manor to help put out small incidental fires. "Zhere hiz nufthink to vorry about, volks. Hit vill be hokay zoon." one of the Jagers who were on duty at the manor said, but his presence scared people more than the explosion, it seemed.

The mayor himself appeared at the door of his manor. He looked rather worried.

Wandering and in thought as usual she saw what everyone else was seeing and decided to take a closer look. Vaneria ran up to the building and listned to others to get an idea of what happened. (so sorry, next post will be longer I swear)

Lucrecia soon got to the scene of the explosion to see parts galore scattered along the ground. She had to keep the Madgirl side of her in check ash she looked around for any injured people. "Assistant debris duty" The clank started to lift the heavy debris and put it all in a single pile as Lucrecia looked around for people who had been injured. So far nobody had been injured but was sure there was somebody. There always were when it came to lab accidents.
