Today I decided that I want to some sort of fighting sport, but then I realized that there's like hundreds of different kinds. so, I need some help deciding what I want to do.

Do you like and/or do any kind of fighting sport? (like martial art, boxing, fencing, etc)
If yes, please describe it, and say why you like it, or why its better than any other sport..

(sorry if this is in the wrong forum )

Hey, I only know a couple of fighting sports myself.. My dad did judo for some time and I used to go watch. I think it involves some floor work and locks things like that but it seemed kinda rough to me :|

Then I used to go to karate with someone and in my opinion this is like the most known.. idk. This seemed to involve alot of sequences.. doing certain moves ect.

I always wanted to do some kind of fighting sport when I was little just to get the belts and awards lol.

Maybe you should research a few and see which ones that you might like..

This might seem a bit unconventional so if you're not interested, I wouldn't be offended. I haven't done much of this in a loooong time.
I am a member of something called the SCA (Society for Creative Anachronism). It is a midieval reenactment group that has practice locations, events and demos all around the world! Each different region of the US is a different Kingdom.

If you wanna try a fighting sport, the SCA has about every medieval sport you could think of. Heavy fighting such as sword+shield, great sword, battle axes, whatever you can think of. Then there's fencing, and archery, and they've even just begun jousting with horses and all! There's pick up fights, duals, battles, championships, and even wars with up to 200 people on apposing teams.

There is so much to tell about the SCA that I couldn't possibly fit it all in here. But if you've ever had an interest in fighting with heavy melee and 30 - 60 pounds of armor, then this could be right up your alley. You might be a stick jock, which is a person who is only there to fight. But there are many many other things to do. There's arts, sciences, food, even feasts! Everything you could think of!

If it sounds at all interesting, here is the main website, <http://www.sca.org>. I don't know how to make links on menewsha. :P

Go to this site and wander around. Learn a little about the organization. On the right, you can find a guide for newcomers, practice field locations, and you can find out wich kingdom you live in. I really hope you find this interesting. I know I did.

all fighting is fun so long as you dont take the actuall fight seriously. what type of stlye you want to practice really depends on your not only your preferences, expectations, and age. the most important thing to look at when choosing a style is your body type. most stlyes were developed for specific body types. tall, short, skinny, husky, etc..
