I'm Mimi, and I've had a thing for anime for fourteen years.
My favorite anime and manga are Yu-Gi-Oh! (original and Duel Monsters). |D I prefer shounen series, and action/adventure + fantasy genres.

Welcome Mimi. ^-^
I've also had a "thing" for anime for a long time, but I didn't know it was called anime until about 8 years ago, so thus I say that's when I really became an "anime fan"
I never got too into yu-gi-oh, but I heard the Japanese version was a lot better than the American version anyway -nod-

(I think I learned the term when I was trying to get into Sailor Moon. xD)
It is. >>; They ruined a lot of characterizations and plots in the dubs of it. They took away a lot of humanity in the villains, which miffed me. I guess it made it easier for they kids they were marketing the series at (kids are more likely to get their parents to buy them figurines and cards, after all) to deal with it or something...

Maybe I'll have to try watching it in Japanese sometime...I have so many other anime to watch right now though ><
Back in the day I started a lot of series due to the anime network and then they took them off so I never got to finish any of them, so now I'm trying to go back and finish them
I'm currently watching .hack//ROOTS which I didn't like before, but figured that once you get past Ovan's retardo-ness and Tabby's annoying voice, it's actually decently good

Yeah, it seems Menewsha's having some trouble with posting. o-o
I would more recommend the manga to the anime, unless you don't mind all of the card games. xD I mean, of course there's a lot of that in the manga, but hardly happens at all (twice?) until book six+ (probably after that... I can't remember! It's been too long). It mostly focuses on other games first. The manga's plot and characterization are also a lot different in the anime.
Right now, I'm slowly plowing through Soul Eater. Very slowly. I lose interest too easily in new (to me) series...

I just plow through subbed anime wayyyyyy to slowly
I get so tired of reading and I can't do anything (such as draw) while I'm watching subs
i'll try reading the manga then -nod-
oh, and pokemon is the same way
you know how in the anime team rocket is in every episode pretty much and the same thing happens every episode?
well in the pokemon manga they hardly ever show up and it's so much more interesting

I miss the original Pokemon... ;A; The episodes were a lot more interesting than the new ones (though I do still like the new ones). I have finally gotten around to watching the episodes in Japanese... and Rica Matsumoto's voice (for Satoshi/Ash)... *o* She's the one who voices Ryou Bakura/Yami no Bakura in Yu-Gi-Oh!, and I've loved his voice for a while now.
I'm probably odd and prefer subbing to dubbing, because I like hearing the original cast of voice actors. I also like hearing the specific words they use for things like "I/me" and "father" and stuff like that. Shows more of the personality that way!

I'd like to get into more animes. I've seen a lot of popular ones and a lot of unheard of ones and my selection is decreasing. Its hard for me to find anime that I haven't seen.....any suggestions? What are you guys's faves?

I like ones that are pretty heard of, generally. xD Gundam Wing, DragonBall Z, Revolutionary Girl Utena, Yu-Gi-Oh!, Digimon (first two series), Soul Eater... (That's all I can think of right now! Brain death.)

I'm more of a romance nut. ^^ I love Ouran and Fruits Basket type animes.
LOVED FOOLY COOLY. Mainly for the music....and the art.

I generally like subbing better than dubbing because I like to hear Japanese (I think it's a really beautiful language).
However, I find that I get through series' a lot more quickly when I watch them subbed since I can draw while watching them and whatnot

I'm in love with Kuroshitsuji
but I also like Monster Princess, Hatenkou yuugi, Utawarerumono, Pandora Hearts, monochrome factor, fate/stay night and many more that I don't feel like naming
But I bet you've seen those all ><

-FAKE-'s pretty good, too, though it's really just a short movie/a long episode. It's also B/L, so if you don't like that, well... forget I mentioned it. xD; The manga's seven books long, though.

Hmm...what exactly is fake about anyway?
I've heard quite a few people talk about it, but I never heard what it was about exactly...
