The story about a girl and her imaginary friend.
Petunia sat with her legs crossed and her head in her hands, elbows resting on her legs. It was always so boring waiting for her human friend to come home from wherever she went during the day. As she sat, she reached to the left of her and spun the ceiling fan with her index finger, trying not to get her long fuchsia hair caught up in it- again. Sitting on the ceiling was one of her favorite places to wait.
Her equally bright pink eyes gazed around the room as she began to wag her tail like a pendulum, which hung upside down from the ceiling.
She was one of many imaginary friends who were not human, but she was one of the most imaginative and most creative: Fuchsia hair and bright pink eyes, tan spiraling horns like a goat's, dark turquoise skin. She was also blessed with a tail similar to an animal called an ox, only Petunia's was longer and the hair at the end matched her hair, whilst the rest of the tail matched her horns.
She had to hand it to her human-child, she was a creative little kid. Who was keeping Petunia waiting and making her abnormally bored.

Denise sat cross legged at her desk, sighing. School was taking longer than usual. And she was not up for work at the moment, no way. She had met someone this morning, and at the moment, this insane character was in her head, refusing to get out. She grunted and tried to dismiss the thought, starting to pay attention to the chatting of the teacher. She finally managed to understand what her English teacher was saying the bell rang and she was free to go home. Rising from her desk, she waved goodbye as she exited the building, the wind in her face refreshing, as if she hadn't felt a breeze for a long time.
Crossing the streets, she headed home, now determined to figure out what was going on. She could truly find herself calling for Petunia but finding no one, and just realizing she was tired, dizzy, it was the morning, and besides, she felt lonely. Now she's going all crazy over some figure she saw in her living room this morning! What was she on about? She shook her head at the thought of watching someone's reaction to this.
"They'd think I'm crazy, bring me to the psychologist for all I know. They'd be 'concerned' like all parents," she grumbled aloud as she walked up the stairs to her apartment door, unlocking the door and entering.
As far as she knew, her parents wouldn't be home, and one stop to look and listen told her she was alone. She closed the door behind her and walked farther into the apartment, entering the living room. The slightly dark tanned girl couldn't help but look for Petunia, as if she still had hope, no matter what her thoughts were on about today. Denise a tall girl for a teenager, but not abnormally tall. She was already pretty far into puberty and her curves were coming pretty nicely, but she still had a lot to grow, not that she'd turn out to be a woman with a huge bosom. She had bright dark red hair that was long and layered, and as her green orbs flickered from one corner of the room to another, her hair drooped over at one side, falling slightly over one of her eyes. She found no one as she scanned the room briefly. Sighing, she dropped her coat on the sofa and headed toward the kitchen, preparing a snack. She was starving.
// I've decided to make her around 14-15, I hope this is alright. I've edited it just a little so it makes more sense for a teenager.
I've now edited the description, sorry for the confusion :-x \\

The girl's unusually pointed ears pricked up when she heard the front door. Stopping the ceiling fan's spinning, and standing up. She walked across the ceiling, stepping over the tops of the doorways and around the lights that hung from the ceiling, making her way to where her human-child had just come in. Petunia ventured quietly into the kitchen and saw her bustling around and Petunia stood there, smiling and waiting for her to look up. The last time Petunia had seen Denise, Denise instantly knew when Petunia was in the room. ...But this time, Denise wouldn't turn around.
Growing impatient within the three seconds of standing there, Petunia yelled, "Denise!" and held her hands out in a What-The-Heck-manner. "I've been waiting for you all day! Where have you BEEN?!" she asked, laughing, and expecting a pleasant response, like Denise used to give. Come to think of it, even from the ceiling, Petunia couldn't help but noticed the change in Denise's appearance. She had certainly gotten taller, for one thing... Petunia began to wonder what had happened.

Denise was busy in the kitchen, scurrying from one end of the counter to another, picking up a spoon on her way to the pan, carefully mixing it before going briefly to get some salt and on the way grabbing a glove. Quickly sprinkling some salt and snatching pepper from the cupboard, she scooped her tortilha and with a splat it fell on her plate. She was about to go with her plate to the living room, grabbing a fork and knife on the way, when she was scared shitless by Petunia.
Denise screamed, dropping the plate as her heart beat at what felt like a thousand beats per second. She managed to calm a bit, but she stared at her tortilha on the floor as her stomach rumbled. At least the plate didn't break, she thought wearily. She glared at Petunia as she quickly picked up the plate from the floor an putting her tortilla back where it had been. She inspected it before deciding it was alright to eat, and with a relieved smile, grabbed the fork and knife from the floor and finally glanced at Petunia again.
"You know, you scared the bejeezus out of me.." she said with a smile that told Petunia one thing, whatever it was, Denise was not going to let this go. Without another word, she floundered off into the living room and sat at the dining table, no longer wanting to watch TV now that Petunia was here.
"And I'm really sorry I couldn't visit you earlier.. I had some... arrends to do." she said looking away, she didn't want Petunia thinking she was a little girl going to school still! She was far better than that.
"What'd you do while I was gone?" she asked with a smile, changing the subject.

"Well you deserved it for ignoring me like that!" she retorted, then raised a pink eyebrow at her human-child's excuse for being gone so long. "What kinds of errands? And whatever happen to that edu-ma-cation place you went to before? What's it called... stool... spool... spoon...?" she asked, fumbling for the word 'school' while following Denise to the table.
Petunia dropped down, landing on the back of one of the chairs at the table silently and crouching on the back of it with incredible balance. She watched Denise curiously, then threw in the question, "What is that?" and pointed at the tortilla on Denise's plate. Petunia was always a curious person- of the imaginary variety, of course- so she often asked many questions at once, expecting an answer to every one of them.

Denise put her hands up in a gesture that basically symbolized her surrender.
"I'm sorry, its not like I wanted to leave you!" she argued back as she carefully cut a piece of her tortilla and popped it in her mouth. She was finally a lot calmer, specially after that 'attack' Petunia made on her. Food always had a good effect on her. Before she could say much more she watched with a smirk as Petunia fumbled for the word 'school', also not realizing she had mistaken edu-ma-cation for education. She giggled.
"For one, we have a lot to go through. It's education, and school. And those were the errands that I have to attend five days a week." she said with a slight sad smile, but knew better than anyone that Petunia would ask more questions, and so without letting Petunia interrupt, she answered the one's she thought most obvious to ask. "A week is seven days, and well.. the other two days are called weekend, which is when you get a break and do homework." she finished, but added quickly, "Homework is what you get from school everyday and need to complete for a certain day. It's work, but for at home!" she exclaimed with a grin.
Before she could even ask what she had done while she was gone again, Petunia asked yet another question. This time it was about what she was eating. Denice sighed, she swore she would get sick and tired of this girl, and was surprised she hadn't, but Petunia did make it a lot more amusing teaching her.
"This is called tortilla. It's spanish. It's basically egg with other ingredients that you can add to your liking!" she exclaimed with a smile.

Petunia watched as Denise answered all her questions one after the other. Including ones she hadn't even asked yet, and ones that Petunia already knew the answers to, such as the days of the week, and of course taking pride in correcting Petunia's lack of educational vocabulary. She stuck her tongue out in s disgusted manner, as though she had eaten something that tasted horrid, "Work's no fun. Unless you're a fireman. Or a ballerina! Or a cop. Or a dancer." she said. Petunia tilted her head at the tortilla and gave a short chicken noise: "Bagoooock!" at it, hoping to make Denise laugh.
She backflipped off of the chair and landed, again, on her feet and shot back up, looking at Denise, "So, five days a week I'm supposed to sit on your ceiling and twiddle my thumbs?" she asked, putting her hands on her hips. She gave an over exaggerated sigh. "What am I supposed to do for five days a week on my own?"

Denise waited until Petunia named all the fun jobs before answering one more,
"And writing. You can make anything up!" she said with a grin. She was often told she had the wildest imagination, and she believed it. She would think up the most random aliens, or the most horrific characters, and she would write stories for hours. She would actually be writing one now if it weren't for Petunia. She quickly finished the last bits of her tortilla before putting her full attention on Petunia.
Her thoughts were wildly interrupted as Petunia made the strangest noise, in what Denise thought was an imitation of a chicken. She burst out laughing and shook her head, determined to now sound like a hen house, she would REALLY be considered crazy if her parents came in the second she started with this chicken imitation.
"It's.. cockledeeduldo!!" she said, her neck moving in and out as if she were really turning into a chicken. She giggled and giggled, and soon it wasn't funny anymore but she was still giggling, going red, before she finally calmed down.
"You know, it's not good for me to hang out with you. You're a bad influence.." she teased with a grin.
"Perhaps its good I have a break from you once in a while, unfortunately, when I'm at school that is." she said as she slumped her shoulders.
"Wait..." she said, and her eyes widened, as if she just got the greatest idea, and she thought she did.
"How about you come to school with me?" she asks, glancing at Petunia. She thought about it.
"Hey Petunia, can other people see you?" she asked curiously, her eyebrow raised at the thought of it. She had never actually thought of it! That's when she took in the girl's appearances, horns? Turquoise skin? Pink hair and eyes? She frowned, this sounded so much like a character she'd made. She wondered if other people could see her.
"Petunia.. what are you?" she asks, a wild frown creasing her forehead as she finally looks to meet her friends eyes.

Petunia nodded vigorously, "Writing too! Making up stories is fun. You and I used to do that a looooooooooong time ago at bedtime, do you remember?" she asked, a smile on her face as she remembered all the things she and Denise used to talk about and make up. That's even how Petunia was born! ...Before Denise grew tall. Petunia mentally shook the thought from her head, not wanting to remember the time Denise made Petunia disappear. When her human-child corrected her, Petunia shook her head exaggeratedly, "Nuh-uh! That's a ROOSTER! A chicken goes: 'Buck, buck BAGOOOOOOOOOOOCK!" she did her impression of the chicken again.
"I'm a bad influence in a good way though!" Petunia defended. She smiled widely at the sudden barrage of questions from Denise, remembering how she had always asked Petunia tons of questions, just as Petunia asked her, in the old days. She was surprised by the questions, but what stood out in her mind the most was the invitation, "REALLY?!" she gasped, "I CAN GO TO SCHOOL WITH YOU?! I'D LOVE TO!" she laughed, sticking her tongue out and biting on it lightly. she took a few moments to clap and get all the excitement out of her system before answering, "Oh no! You're the only one who can see me. I am what you humans would call... an 'imaginary friend.'" she said, after a short pause to think of the term, "I'm your friend and yours alone, that's why I get so bored when you're not around, because I have no one to talk to or play with." she pointed out. She leaned closer and smiled, "Which explains why I look like a character you made, because you DID!" she laughed.

Denise's eyes widened as she suddenly remembered everything, which explained why Petunia never left her thoughts in school today. She cocked her head to the side. Wondering whether she could actually touch Petunia.. or like she said, she'd be a figment of her imagination and her finger would just go right through her. But before she could do any of her crazy experiments, she was interrupted by a loud noise yet again made by Petunia, and this time she was right. That was the sound of a chicken. She huffed and puffed as she usually did, not accepting the defeat.
"I was being your husband-y!!" she said as if she meant the sound she'd made only moments ago be a rooster.
Before Denise could even show any expression of being a drama queen, she was giggling as Petunia expressed her excitement to go to school. She wondered how it was only her who could hear this racket. She cocked her head to the side again, Petunia's comeback didn't make sense.
"How can a bad influence be good?" she asked, no longer in the fight, just curious.
"And yes, you can come to school.. but like you just said, no one will see you or hear you, so you'll need to shut up when someone's talking to me," she mentioned and looked at her sternly.
"I only bring you if you promise," she huffed once more.
Even thought Denise was playing that 'huffing' game again, she had to admit she was excited to figure out it was one of her own characters that she had written when she was really little! She couldn't even understand how she didn't recognize her, by the appearance, personality, or name! How stupid could she be?

Petunia laughed, "So if we were animals, and I was a chicken and you were a rooster, you would be my husband?" she asked, laughing again.
"Because what's good for one person might not be bad for another; what's bad for one person might not be bad for you." she explained, pointing out in layman's terms that good and bad were subjective terms. Petunia liked to think she wasn't bad, but rather just a different sort of good- one that obviously was not for everyone. Petunia looked at the ceiling as she listened to Denise, who then demanded a promise. Denise should have known better that to ask her to promise that; Petunia couldn't promise to control her mouth. "I promise I won't talk when it's important..." she offered.
Petunia smiled after the offer, there was something else she felt she needed to say: "You didn't write me exactly. Nor my personality, so don't get so narcissistic on me." she laughed, "All you really did was name me. Imaginary friends are exactly what they sound like. We are what you need, and nothing more. The imaginary is that you name us and are the only one who can see us. Only human, anyway. Animals can see us, which is why animals sometimes react to nothing- it's us. And we can see each other too." she said, starting to spin around the room as she explained. Petunia felt the need to get the record straight. She was childish, yes, and she was an imaginary friend, but she knew something. Just, obviously not how to say edumacation, or school.

Denise got all defensive.
"Yes! You got a problem with me being your husband in rooster?" she asks, but soon she can't help but stifle a smile.
"You know.. that explanation was completely pointless, I get what you mean.. but that just really did not make sense!" she exclaimed, a small smirk on her lips. Denise then raised her eyebrows as she listened to the slight promise the girl made, it did satisfy her, but she knew she'd be in trouble tomorrow.
"Well don't kill me if you can't keep your mouth shut and I'm ignoring you." she murmured under her breath.
Before she could say much more, Petunia had something to say. And this was quite interesting, even Denise had to admit it. She laughed.
"I named you?" she asked, but the question was more directed to her than anyone else, as she tried to remember when that was exactly.
"Mmm.." she mumbled as she chewed on her lips, forcing herself to remember. Before she could think any longer she gave up as a new thought struck her when Petunia mentioned animals.
"They can see you?" she asks with a smile that told anyone one thing, Denise was up to something.
"Can you talk to them too?" she asked, a glint in her eye as she smiled wildly, hoping against hope her imaginary friend could.

Petunia smiled a bit and stopped spinning, facing Denise. She then got defensive as well, "NO! I do NOT have a problem with it! But think of the children!" She enjoyed play-arguments with Denise, they were always about the silliest things.
She laughed at her human, shaking her head, "Basically, I'm good for you, but bad for your parents. Just for an example." she explained, hoping to end the silly argument, resulting in her winning, or at least Denise seeing her side. "Well, if you ignore me, I'll just have to do mean things to your friends." she laughed, joking.
After a few moments, Petunia spoke up, "Yup, the day I appeared. You were three years old." she reminded her, unsure if she was looking to find that out or not. "And yes, and I can understand them, unless it's a fish. I'm not good with speaking fish... They tend to gurgle." she smiled, making a joke that was actually a truth. "Why... what are you thinking?" she asked, knowing Denise long enough to recognize the cogs turning, as if the smile didn't give it away enough.

Denise burst out laughing. "Who said we'd have children?" she shot back glaring, but the smile on her lips always blew the acting.
Denise refused to lose, so she continued their silly argument with a silly bad comeback.
"You're not good for me! Only children have imaginary friends, they'll think I'm a loon!" she argued back, and added, "I might be one.. but I'm not letting other people know," she huffed, crossing her arms and raising her chin, avoiding her friend's gaze.
Before Denise could stop herself, a frown caught her eyebrows as she looked at her friend strangely.
"Last time I remembered you couldn't read my mind.. have you.. what's it called.. upgraded or something?" she asked, taking another good look at Petunia.
"You look the same to me!" she exclaimed, this again, directed more to herself than the girl sitting opposite her.
"If you have upgraded etc.. thingy-ma-bob.." she said, not sure of the word, "then tell me, because there might be some real fun stuff we can do with those powers of yours!" she exclaimed, suddenly going excited.
She was put down when Petunia didn't understand what she was on about with the 'animal extrvaganza and her insane idea', like I said, she's got a wild imagination.
"Well.. when you get bored at school you can talk to the dogs, as far as I know, one of them is male, so you know.. you can always catch up on your love life.. that is.. if you .. ah.. like guys?" she said, fidgeting. She always grew nervous when she talked about these things. Quickly changing the subject, she said, "I have homework to do."
// Sorry.. like I said, it's really late for me (past midnight o.o) and I gotta get off now. I'll post tomorrow! Night for moi, unknown for toi! ;D \\

"Well, it wouldn't even be an option, unless you're hiding something from me!" Petunia argued, still amused.
Petunia raised an eyebrow, "They'd only think you were a loon if you told them; were you planning on telling anyone about me?" she asked. The a horrible thought came into her mind, one she didn't want to think about, but asked without thinking: "Are you going to send me away again...?" she asked, watching Denise.
She was slightly offended by the questions, and a little hurt Denise didn't remember, "You remember wrong then. I haven't changed. You have though." she said. "And what's a love life?" she asked, confused by the last comment Denise made.

Denise blew up like one of those blowfish, whatever their called. She was shocked to the core. "You think I'd hide something from you?" she exclaimed, her voice faltering as her throat clogged up.
"I would never do such a thing! What in the world got in to you Petunia?" she continued, shooting a glare in her direction.
"How do I send you away? And why would I? Thinking these things is bad for you." she stated matter a factly.
"Bad bad petunia." she mumbled, as if she were that three year old again.
The instinctive words that flew out of her mouth had her giggling quietly before losing the rage that once consumed her. Where did that bad bad petunia come from? She was no child! She shook her head at herself and sighed.
"You see what you're doing to me? You're making me a child!" she exclaimed. "It's not good to be with you, I'm a loon already, don't make it worse."
The smile that captured her lips stopped her from saying much more as she listened to what Petunia had to say. But before she could be smiling much more, she had to explain what love life was. She fidgeted with the hem of her skirt and bit her lips.
"Well... love is like, when you like someone a lot that you want to live with them, and be with them." she explained, looking up at Petunia for her reaction.

Petunia laughed, "Well, you could be a chicken and not a rooster!" she retorted. She was highly entertained by how upset Denise got through the misunderstanding. Perhaps it was short term memory, Petunia reasoned. They did have several conversations going back and forth.
For once in her life, Petunia clammed up. She didn't want to answer Denise's question. If Petunia told her, she might really send her away again, and Petunia did not want that at all. She didn't want to go back to that place...
However, she was glad that Denise did not remember. Denise was vehemently denying ever having done such a thing, and though it put Petunia in a bad spot, it didn't seem too bad overall.
Then, relief flooded her when Denise was giggling again. Petunia didn't like when Denise was angry or upset. When Denise was happy though, it made Petunia happy as well. Her human was a lovely child, and was very well loved by her imaginary friend- not that she often offered that information. "You still are a child! You're just a bigger child than I remember! Besides, if you weren't, you wouldn't need me, wouldjyah?" she asked, smiling.
At Denise's explanation, Petunia saw this was one of those times where the information would be offered, "Well, that means I love you, so I guess I do have a love life!" the odd looking girl exclaimed with another, bubbly, laugh.
