Name: Ravyn Scarlet
Age: 26
Race: Half-Elf
Bio: Having been born to an elf raped by a human she was shunned by the elven community at an early age when her true parentage was revealed. Heading to the nearby village she was there too shunned for her more elven appearance. Disgusted by the way she was treated she struck out on her own. Finding she had a natural talent for "acquiring" rare items she made her living as a rogue. Traveling the world alone for the most part save for a tiger she'd saved early in her life, who would periodically travel with her. She'll target elf or human, as no trap can stop her from getting that which she wants, especially from mages due to an incident years ago.

Ravyn settled back into the shadows of her corner booth at the inn. The innkeeper brought over a tankard and returned to his duties at the bar. She was hoping tonight to hear more about this "invincible" mage, mostly she wanted to know where he was and what kind of goodies she could get her hands on. This one had better be worth my time. she thought as she went through the pouch on her belt. The last mage she'd heard about proved to be nothing more than an apprentice who's master had died in an unfortunate "accident". Replacing the items and double checking her tools she propped her feet up on the opposite bench and kept an eye on the door.

Florian re-checked the spell he had cast on his cloak, the hood pulled up far over his head. The spell would keep his face hidden from those who wished to be a little more nosy than he cared for. This was a rare time for him, one of the only reasons he would ever consider going into a tavern. But, he had long harbored a craving for a good ale. The tavern seemed empty enough this time. He kept his staff hidden under his robes anyway. He was always prepared for a fight. The staff had been a loyal companion for many years, and the only one he would ever trust.

He edged his way through the front door and headed at once to the farthest table, keeping his shoulders hunched and hood low. As soon as he sat down, the innkeeper appeared next to him and he set down just enough coin for one ale on the rough wooden table. The innkeeper gathered the coin and nodded, walking away without a word.

Ravyn's eyes quickly went to the door as a hooded figure entered. Keeping to the shadows she watched him intently as he made his way toward the back where she was seated. Holding still and blending with the shadows she noticed she couldn't see his face under the hood, even with her well trained eyes. He's a mage! she thought eagerly as he made his way to the table next to her booth. He's trying to hide it however, he must be up to no good. I know I heard the soft thump of his staff as he walked too. I wonder what he's got hidden in those robes? Very quietly she checked to see if she had anymore sleeping tablets on her.

When the innkeeper returned with Florian's ale, he thanked the older man in a low voice. He simply stared at the mug for a moment, wondering how long it would be until he could stop in for one again. Best make this one last to make up for the time. He took the mug and raised it to his mouth, taking a short gulp before setting it down again.

Ravyn checked her pouch she had one tablet left, as she got ready to distract him and drug him she noticed he seemed ready to leave at any moment. Perhaps I'll wait and follow him. While he might have one or two things on his person surely he must have a stash nearby with more goods... she thought as she decided that's what she'd do instead. Silently she hoped that Leon was out in the wood, if the mage detected that she was following the tiger could always track him. Carefully she sat up and kept a close eye on her new "friend".

Florian finally looked over at feeling the stare that bore into him. A woman was sitting at the next table over, her eyes intense as she stared at him. Was she trying to see past the spell? He smirked at the thought, watching her watching him. It was amusing in a way. She was so deep in thought. He raised his mug to take another gulp, tilting his head back a little. Half of the mug disappeared into the black barrier that he had constructed. He knew of it, and kept his eyes locked on the woman to watch for her reaction. Even the subtlest movement would tell him more about her, whether or not she was just the average woman, or a bounty hunter out scouting the area.

Ravyn watched as the mage finally took notice that she was staring. Good, at least he's not a complete idiot. He might actually be worth my time. She watched as he tilted his mug back and half seemed to disappear. Hmmm...he did that on purpose. While she couldn't see his face, she knew he was watching to see her reaction, she kept her face neutral. Let's see how he likes that. The show off. Mentally she smirked.

So, she was trying to play it cool. He lowered the mug with a smile on his lips. Obviously she was trying to come across as tough and stoic. The woman could possibly be a bounty hunter trying to unnerve him, but he had seen the same attempt far too many times. He set the mug on the table and leaned forward to fold his arms over the table, turning his head to meet her gaze directly. Whatever this woman was, it was best to play the silent card until she felt the need to talk. Not many could stand a silent stare for long without at least squirming. If she didn't react at all, then he could assume that she might be more than a bounty hunter. Hitman, perhaps, but female hitman were rare.

Ah she thought as she watched him turn to directly face her He wants to play the silent stare game. Unable to control herself she smirked as she leaned back to get comfortable. Most mages she'd come across who tried this usually failed at their own game. Propping her boots up on the seat across from her she folded her arms across her chest and stared back at him. Staring straight into the blackness she picked up her mug, gave him a mock salute and took a swig, all without ever taking her eyes off him. Two can play at this game...but I wonder what he's up to...

Florian couldn't help but to smile. This woman was amusing. Bold, confident, and not a bad sight to look at either, now that he took the time to see it. He kept his wary edge, of course. Never ever let your guard down completely in the presence of an armed woman. That was one of his personal rules and he stuck to it carefully.

After a long while of silence and staring Florian finally spoke up. "What brings a woman into a tavern like this so late at night?" he asked. Might as well, since she wasn't a definite enemy yet. And if she was, he hoped that the smalltalk would put her at ease.

Ravyn's eyes twinkled in amusement as he was the first to break the silence. She still kept mostly to the shadows, letting it be known she was female but keeping her ears hidden. Not too many folks took kindly to a half breed, she scowled softly at that thought before turning to his question.

She chuckled softly at his question before responding. I have my reasons. However, I think for this conversation to be fair.. she wiggled her finger in his direction you should at least dim that spell you've got working on your hood. I'm not here after you or whatever you might think. I'm after...well, I'll tell you once I can see you. she said softly so only he could hear her. Smirking she took a sip from her mug. Now we'll see. Most mages who hide their faces can't be trusted. No telling what kind of magic they're working...

Florian shook his head. "No can do. Nothing against you, but there's still the rest of these scraggly looking bastards hanging around to consider." He took another few gulps from his mug, emptying it, then got to his feet. His staff made a slight scraping on the floor as he moved. He paused to lift it up, fixing his cloak better to hang around it, then nodded to her. "Hope to see you around," he said, then made his way through the tables to the front door.

Once outside, he stopped beside a stack of empty wine barrels. Not for any real purpose, but just to take a moment to look at the moon and the tiny town it shone down upon. He would miss this place. It was one of the most quiet, peaceful towns he had come across so far.

Ravyn watched him walk out the door Hmm...now I know he's up to something. I mention pulling down the spell and he suddenly leaves. Using the patrons on the other side of the tavern as an excuse. Setting a coin down by her mug she gets up and exits out the back, keeping to the shadows she comes peers around the corner and spies the mage just standing beside the empty barrels.

I hope he doesn't do that teleportation thing. It's such a pain to follow them then. a sudden thought struck her I wonder if he's after the same person. I know one thing is certain about all mages, they hate competition. Quietly she climbed up the drain pipe and made her way across the roof so she was just above him.

Florian made a slight gesture with his free hand, and the spell on his cloak faded away. He heard a slight rattle distub the silence, and a tiny chunk of the tile roof dropped on his shoulder. He picked up the speck, looked at it closely, then turned to look up at the roof. His hood fell back a little from his face as he smiled up at the woman. "Hello again," he greeted.

Cursing she felt the tile under her foot crack and watched as a piece drop and fall on the mage's shoulder. Just my luck... Wincing she waited for him to attack, instead he looked up at her and smiled. That's not the reaction I was expecting. Tilting her head she noticed that he had removed the spell from his cloak and that she could see his face in the moonlight. For a mage, he's not half bad looking. Smiling she returned his greeting. Good evening, fine night to be out isn't it? She tried to act as though she hadn't been following him.

Florian laughed. "So says the stalker on the rooftop," he answered, then turned away to pull the hood back over his face. "I must admit though that I have little time to enjoy much. Farewell," he said with a wave of his hand as he started off down the road. He took out a battered map from inside his cloak as he walked, turning it toward the moonlight to see better.

Hmmm..should I blatantly follow him or hide in the trees. Ah screw it.. Leaping off the roof Ravyn quickly comes up behind the mage and looks over his shoulder at the map. Where you off to in such a hurry? she spoke softly in his ear.

Florian turned his head to smile at her. He stopped and rolled up the map, tucking it back into his cloak. "Anywhere I please, milady," he answered simply, then continued on. The tree line loomed far ahead like a wall of shadow, swallowing up the road in its gloom. It would make a good place to rest for the night though. If the woman didn't follow him, but he had a feeling that she was too stubborn to let up yet.

You mages, always so mysterious. Some day you ought to try giving a straight answer for once. Who knows, maybe you'd find some help that way. Following him into the tree line she could tell he was looking for a place to sleep. I wouldn't recommend stopping here if I were you.... Ravyn looked up into the trees, trying to keep and innocent look on her face.

Florian turned back to her yet again, raising an eyebrow at her. "And why would that be, milady?" he asked. He wouldn't put it past her to have an ambush out there waiting for him. Although, he strongly hoped that wouldn't be the case. He didn't want anymore trouble tonight.

Well.... she said while still looking up at the sky. First off these woods are full of wild animals, though I'm sure *that* wouldn't be a problem for you. However the other thing is it's going to storm tonight and i really doubt you'd want to be cold and wet all night. Finally Ravyn looked over at him as a faint rumble of thunder was heard in the distance. Grinning You're in luck however. Since you seem to be an alright fellow I happen to know a cave not to far off. Dry, spacious, and even comes with moss for sleeping on. Unless of course you'd rather use some fancy spell and alert anyone and everyone that you're here. From what she had heard, there was a "powerful" mage not too far away. She didn't want to alert him that anyone was nearby, last thing she wanted was to have to fight off some henchmen before she could even get the chance to "acquire" some of his rarer goods.

"I thank you for the offer, milady, but I have been on the road for many years. A rainy, danger filled night under the trees is the usual," Florian answered with a short laugh. The he readjusted the hold on his staff and nodded to her. "Good luck tonight," he said, then turned once again to continue on.

After he had reached the trees and made his way into the thicker growth, Florian finally stopped, glanced around, then laid down his staff. He undid his cloak to bundle it up as a bed in between the large roots of the tree he stood under.

Ravyn watched as he walked away from her for the third time. Fine, be that way. She thought huffily. Carefully she began to climb into the trees. The best part about storms is they hide noise very well. Since she had to fend for herself most of the time she was used to sleeping outdoors and being in the rain. Slowly she made her way through the branches until she was close enough to just see what the mage was up to. She sat quietly and waited. Since he won't tell me what he's up to I'll just have to find out for myself.
