So the other day I was walking home from a friend's house, and I stopped for a moment. I looked the way I needed to go, and I saw something strange. It was as if there was a ripple over everything in front of me, like a bend in reality itself.
so, what does everyone make of this, and has anyone else had any similar experiences?

I think I've had an experience like that, but I can't say for sure. Was it momentary or did it last for a minute? When it happened to me, it was there for several seconds. I later just kind of ruled it out of reality, telling myself that my eyes were just playing tricks on me. Who knows if that's the right approach to take? What was it like for you?

it wasn't heat waves over the pavement, cause where I was there was no pavement. it was like a ripple going across everything in front of me. it lasted for a few seconds and just kind of disappears. I have no clue what it was, that's why I'm asking.

Hm. I'm not quite sure. It could be a number of things that you saw....
Theory 1: It could have been your eyes playing tricks on you. Were you tired or fatigued at the time? Or had you been staring at a screen or reading for a long period of time? These can have weird effects on your eyes.
Theory 2: You could be clairvoyant. Of course, there are those that believe ghosts and other dimensions and things like that aren't real. I believe in them, however, and I believe in clairvoyant people, too. :) You could be extra-sensory. Also, you might think I'm crazy right now as you read this.
Theory 3: It could have been a hallucination. Not to judge, genuinely wanting to know, could it have been a drug or alcohol-induced hallucination?
Theory 4: It could have been a heat wave...possibly. Was there a fire around?
These are all of the theories I have right now? Thoughts?

alright, now to go through and analyze all of your theories.
1. I wasn't tired or fatigued, and I wasn't reading.
2. While I do have some psychic abilities, I have never "seen" things. I tend to "feel" things if you know what I mean. It didn't "feel" like it does when other things are around, and so that makes me less inclined to believe that. not to mention I wasn't the only one who saw it.
3. It couldn't have been a drug or alchohol related hallucination, as I don't do drugs and I haven't had a drink in over a week.
4. There was no fire, and it wasn't like a heat wave at all. it wasn't like it was rising up off of something, it was more like it was passing me by. like a ripple in a pool of water

Hm...if you weren't the only person who saw it, that brings new ideas and possibilities. There's this thing I read about a while back, but the name of it escapes me now. I think it's called a Luma? I read about it in a science magazine a few years ago. They're these things that people aren't totally sure are real. They're little embodiments of light. They're most often seen in Europe, but there have been sightings of them all over the world. They phase through forms and move around, presumably by movement of temperature focal points. Usually, they're seen as small balls of light that dart around really quickly through the air, sometimes hovering in place for a second. However, they've been known to change into a variety of forms. I'm going to search for it on the net and try to find the name.

alright. that would be interesting, and if they've mostly been seen in europe, then you might want to also look into various kinds of mythology for that as well. Oh, and I just found out, apparently a friend of mine saw the same thing a few days before, except this was higher in the atmosphere (he saw it in the sky, not across the ground)

Well, like I said, they tend to hover. They can move really high into the sky, from what I remember, or keep really low to the ground, so this could very well have been the case and your friend's claim would be justified/proven.

I can't find the original name for the lights that I was talking about, but there is a U.S. EQUIVALENT called a Marfa Light. Reading about it, it is similar to what I remember the European lights to be like (typically spherical in shape, move around rapidly, hover in the air), however there are two distinct differences from what I recall, the first being that Marfa Lights are said to ordinarily be nocturnal, though there are a few "unreliable accounts" of Marfa Light sightings. Also, Marfa Lights apparently tend to maintain their spherical shape, whereas the European lights could morph, as I recall.
I don't know. These differences could simply be faulty memory or the Marfa Light could be different. You can Wikipedia the Marfa Lights if you'd like. There's more information there.
