when a creak rang out from a old rotting floorboard. Albel looked around with a distracted air as he crept along, using the wall for support, and as a guide. It wasn't like he could see that well in the dark anyway. His hand met something cold and his fingers wrapped around it. It was a doorknob. He turned it slowly and pushed the door open to find himself standing in the doorway of another room illuminated with moonlight. The sheer curtains covering the windows were blowing in a nonexistent wind and he felt goosebumps crawling up his arms. He cautiously stepped into the room and he heard a voice...

Sadie called out from the shadows which she conveniently blended in with. "Albel..." She almost giggled, giving up her cover. "Are you out there?" It was a rhetorical question, but still, it probably freaked him out. "Albel...I know you're there. ANSWER ME!" Sadie was almost going to laugh. She would've been so freaked out if she was in Albel's position.

Albel twitched. Alright that wasn't even remotely funny. But he decided to play along nonetheless. "Why yes, I am. And may I ask who wants to know?" he asked calmly. He probably would have been freaked if he hadn't already gotten an idea as to who it was. After all, it was a little suspicious, seeing as he had come here with a few other people and they had all gotten separated. One or two of them were bound to try and freak the others out. It was like a general well known rule.

Anna could see the silhouette of Albel's figure in front of her, and trying as hard as she could not to frighten him, she called out, "Sadie, is that you?"
Sadie was most definitely freaking Albel out. She could almost see him quivering.

((excuse me Crunch? Albel isn't "quivering" or anything. And anyway you're controlling Mandy's character. That's against the rules. Not to sound snobby or anything. It just flat out bothers me.))

Sadie knew she was caught. She knew Albel too well. She decided to continue anyway to see who would cave first. "My identity cannot be revealed or else..." She had to think of some consequence, fast. "Or else...all we know will come to an end." That was the worst threat she could have given, but it was the first thing that came to mind. She hoped that he would just end it there.

((@Aoi Kazuya- I said that Anna could almost see Albel quivering. Seeing that they're in the dark, she might've imagined it. And I'm not controlling Mandy's character. Anna is thinking that Sadie is probably freaking Albel out. When it says "She could almost see him quivering", "she" is Anna. Misunderstanding. Sorry.))

Sadie sighed and slowly emerged from the shadows. Like THAT would've helped anyone see her more clearly in the darkness. Whatever, Sadie thought, He already knew it was me. But leave it to Anna to give me up...typical. Sadie was Anna's friend, but Sadie got frequently irritated by Anna. "Yeah, Albel, it's me." Sadie folded her arms. "THANK YOU, Anna." She added in sarcastically to make Anna see that she wasn't happy about the revealing of her identity.

((oh well I guess that's fine then. Lol but it's not dark in the room, the space is illuminated by an eerie glow of the moon XD))
"Mm... I could have guessed as much. Anna, you really must not going around ruining everyone's fun all the time." Albel didn't really know Anna that well. But Sadie on the other hand was a good friend of his. He sighed before yawning into his hand and stretching his arms above his head. "I'm tired..." he mumbled, nudging Sadie with a hand, "How much longer do we have to stay in this house before the dare's done?"

Sadie took out her phone to check the time. She never wore watches. "Um...about an hour." She answered. "It's only until midnight, right?" She fumbled with putting her phone back into her pocket. "Why did we have to do this dare, again? My mom is gonna freak when she finds out that THIS is where I've been all night!" But then again...she didn't actually have to tell her mom where she was...

"Eh? Wasn't it your idea?" Albel asked, arms dropping back to his sides. "Well, it's not like I really care, there's nothing else for me to do. Not like anyone's home anyway." He moved to the window and peered out, trying to figure out why the curtains had been blowing around like that. he pressed his fingers to the glass. That was intact. Then he tried to open the window. He peered at the sides, it was nailed shut. "That's not right..." he muttered. Then he looked back over to Sadie, "Well you can always say you were over at my place. Your mom probably won't freak as much. better than saying you came to the neighborhood's haunted house."

"Yeah," Sadie agreed. "That will be my alibi." She laughed. "But it actually wasn't my idea. I was only kidding but YOU wanted to come here anyway." She walked back and forth over a creaky floorboard. "But it doesn't really matter, does it? My mom is at work until eleven anyway...My dad...well he couldn't care less." She saw Albel examining the windows. "What are you ding?" She questioned, curious. She walked over slowly and saw the nails in the sides of the windows. She looked at Albel.

"When I walked in here, those curtains..." he pointed at said curtains, "...were blowing in the wind." Then he indicated the sides of the window, "As you can see, the windows are nailed shut." Then he rapped his knuckles on the glass, "And these windows are obviously still intact." He backed up slightly, "And there are no fans or such electrical appliances around to cause the wind." he stepped on a creaking floorboard and almost jumped out of his skin when, instead of a squeak, it let out a very loud groan. "There's something with this house..."

Sadie's heart started pounding. She liked to scare people, but she hated being scared. "We COULD go now...I mean it was my idea so I think I can decide when we leave." She took a step back. Thinking about monsters or ghosts that lived within the house was very illogical but still possible, right? Sadie shook her head. "But do you really think this house is actually haunted? Like...I don't know, but it seems pretty far fetched, don't you think? It's probably just old." She began to ramble. She always did that when she was nervous. "Do you want to leave?"

As the last word left Sadie's mouth the door to the room slammed shut and Albel shot around so quickly he almost tripped over his own feet. "I don't think we can." He did think the ideas of the house being haunted was a bit farfetched, but all things supernatural, well that he loved. Just...not right now. "We should stick together." Shouts and screams resonated outside of the closed door causing Albel to inch closer to Sadie, "This isn't right at all..."

Sadie hated not knowing what was going on. That mixed with her fear would probably lead to a panick attack or fainting. Her heart beat faster than the speed of light. She started breathing heavier and moved towards Albel as if that was going to help her become less scared. Sadie covered her mouth so she wouldn't scream. Her teeth were close to chattering. She really regretted going to the house now. She swallowed. "You're right. Stick together. That's w-what we h-have to do." Sadie was scared out of her mind by this point that she was stuttering. She didn't even know what was on the other side of that door. The moonlight dawned over the room, but it only made it scarier. "We s-should have n-never came here."

Words completely failed Albel by now. He could only nod before gulping, "W-we should find a way out of here..." He started for the door, the screams had finally died down and reached out for Sadie to take his hand. "Don't let go unless I say so." he said grimly before wrenching the door open, bracing for whatever would be outside. It was empty. The hallway was completely empty...wait...wasn't there a room here before? He was certain he had entered from another room, not a hallway. He turned back to the door he had just exited from and examined the room inside, there were no other doors. "Anna, you should come with us too."

"A-Albel...I don't think we should go out this way." Sadie didn't like to admit it, but she was scared. "I-I can't go. I'm..." She took a breath. "I'm scared." She led Albel back towards the window. "We can find a way to break this glass and get out. We're only on the second floor. It's not that far of a jump...there's a fence that goes down here. We could scale it." She knew that was illogical, but she really, really didn't want to go into that hallway. She gulped. Now she was paranoid because every little sound bothered her.

"Nope." Anna shook her head furiously. She had been quiet the whole time, too scared to speak. "Nope." She repeated. "I'm... I'm with Albel. I'm not jumping out... out a window. I mean... I mean, it's just a house. No such thing as ghosts. Or... anything. I think." Anna's usual leader self had shrunk to pretty much nothing.
"Sadie, how about you take out your phone? You know... so we can have some light? Maybe? Perhaps?" Her voice took on a slightly hysterical tone.

Sadie used her free hand to take out her phone. Then she realized how stupid she was. She could have called one of her other friends to save them somehow. She expressed her idea with the other two and then flipped the phone open. "No signal." Her hopes were shot down. "Anna, you really want to go back out there? After what you just heard?" She tightened her grip on Albel's hand, remembering the horrific sounds. "Really, Albel? You too?"

Anna sighed. Sadie had a good point.
Anna looked out the window. Like Sadie said, it didn't look like it would be that big of a fall. She was just afraid of climbing a fence. She could jump out of a window, easy, but she couldn't go up a fence. "I don't know..."
Sadie's phone was still open and emitted light from it. Anna suddenly saw something. She walked to the other side of the room and bent down to examine the floor. A trapdoor. "Sadie? Albel? I think you might want to see this..."

Albel crossed the room quickly, pulling Sadie along behind him. He kneeled down next to Anna and examined the trap door, he didn't know why but he felt that it might just be better to take the trap door rather than the hallway. "Alright..." He brushed his hand over to the top and found an iron ring, which he pulled up on, opening the trap door. A dank musky smell immediately assaulted his sense of smell and he peered in, "This thing must be really old..." He turned back to the girls, "Alright then, I'm not trying to be brave or show off but I'll go in first, if anything happens, take the window. I don't like this house one bit and I don't want either of you getting hurt if I can prevent it. Is that alright with you two?"

Sadie sighed. "Wait." She pulled Albel a little bit. There was really no safe way to get out, was there? There were consequences to every decision they were thinking of making. "But let's say that whatever is down there is worse than jumping out a window or going through the hallway?" Sadie wasn't fond of pessimism, but she couldn't be too careful in a situation like this. "I-I mean if you want to go, I'll go with you, but...shouldn't we try to break the window first, just in case?" She shrugged and rocked back and forth on her heels. "And Albel, I'll go right behind you. Remember? No letting go."
