The guards here are great, if you grease their palms. The folk friendly unless you say that one thing to tune them on each others. walking through the city Rosco whistled, tonight was his last night of city duty and he could not wait to work in the court. it was not that he hated working in the city, in fact he found this job the best that he had ever thought possible, but some times he just wanted breathing time. working at the Court was mostly just standing around looking impressive, which gave him time to breath and think.
twirling his baton he looked around him. the city streets were near empty but for the evening crowed that was coming and going form the taverns and inns. soon the night market would open and he would walk around there. maybe he might see something that was a good buy. one of the shop keepers as they closed up waved to him as he passed. waving back he smiled. Mith'Tor'Ren was a good city, better then the port citys he had heard of, why just last week half of the day watch had been called down the river to Mith'La'Ren, Mith'Tor'Ren's sister city, to quill a string of brake ins at the jewelers market.

Princess Judy sighs out as she was with her father the king of fairy's. The king wanted to hold a contest to see. how could win his eldest daughter's hand in marriage. Judy how ever was not to happy about this idea that her father had think up. they were heading off go to the night market Judy's mother the queen. was back at the castle keeping a eye on things wile her husband and daughter went out. "Father must you really hold such a contest you did not. even pick out what type of contest it would be yet. so far you said all eligible men would be allowed to join in." she says to the king walking slowly and elegantly like a princess should.

He was happy, there had been few if any crimes the last few nights. His watches had been well and truly quite. there had been rumor from those coming back from court duties that the king was planning on declaring a challenge to see who could win Princess Judy’s hand in marriage but that was just rumors. Tonight he was going to enjoy his last day on the streets before court.
Noticing a commotion up ahead near the night market Rosco quickened his pace. When he reached the crowd he saw the king and the princess Judy. Ho boy and I thought this day could not get any more difficult. The crowd had gathered trying to get a closer look at their king and the beloved princess.

"Well Judy my Daughter I am have finally made up my mind. on the challenge and will announce it tomorrow to the people of all the kingdoms. besides my dear you are at the right age to be married for to a fine young man." The king says to his daughter waving to the people of there kingdom. he would put a end to the rumor tomorrow he was not going to joke about this.

"I can't believe you would do this to me. I'm going to walk a lone for now have a good time Father." she says to her father in upset voice as the fair princess walk's off. away form the king for a princess she said what she wanted to when she gets mad. Judy keep's on walking till sitting down at the fountain in the middle of the market square. her some what small fairy wings flap softly as she try's to think of a why out of her father's idea.

Shaking his head Rosco watched the princess storm off into the crowd. not the smartest thing to do highness, now your dads men will have to decide where to go. pushing his way through the crowd Rosco fallowed the princess nodding to some of the body guards that had split off to protect her. They knew him and knew that if he needed help he would call for it. Sighing they went back to the king knowing their princess would be safe with Rosco. Finding her at the fountain he sighed and stepped up in front of her. “You know your highness it is not wise to storm off from your father in front of the whole market. Now your father is going to have to do some fast talking to calm them down so they are not worried.”

"He knew it was bound to happen my mother warned him. about not to get me angry with his crazy ideas."Princess Judy says to Rosco in a soft voice that was shy. she was the oldest daughter having 3 younger sister's and 1 older brother,2 younger brothers. knowing her brother would take the throne after there father once he was ready to take over. as for her self she would be married to how knows what type of man. if her father did his silly idea to have get her married to some man. she prayed the man would be kind at lest and not some horrible,rude are evil man.

"my lady it still is not wise to walk away from the body guards. what if some one kidnapped you to get back at your father, what do you think he would do then? all the guards know that your father is very attached to you, your his favorite." setting down beside her Rosco ran his fingers through the water. "it is not a well kept secret that he would give up the kingdom for you and I believe that your mother would let him just to have you back." he hated to talk to her like this but she had to think of the people and not just herself. there were to many people that did not care what happened to her here on the streets that it was dangerous for her to be alone. "my lady what did he say to you if you can tell me that has you so upset?"

"I do care about this kingdom I just do not like his idea. is all I'd only wonder why he would try such a thing? as to marry me off to someone that would win in a contest. it sounds so odd to me,as well scary in a way knowing. that enemy kingdoms may try out in the contest." she says trying not to let tears come to her eyes as she speaks. Judy's little sister's were still not near the age to be able to be married off. her oldest brother was thinking about asking a neighboring kingdoms princess to be his bride. Princess Judy cared for her kingdom's safety more then her own. the young woman all ways prayed for the people's safety even if she did not know them at all.

"There is nothing to see here everyone my daughter is just. nervous is all about what I'll be announce tomorrow please enjoy. the night market everyone I would like to announce that. well be having a ball for the Queen's birthday in the next few nights. All of the kingdom is welcomed to come to have fun time and dancing the night away." King Athens says to all the people that had group around them. knowing that a ball was for a joy's times and to celebrate good times. he loved his wife and all of his children he wanted to make sure they all would have good lives. he was thinking about Judy's well being and future when he had think up this idea.

“So the rumor about the contest is real?” Rosco sounded a bit surprised. “I can see why you would not want to go along with it, but he will make a way for you not to have to merry a man that is from one of the kingdoms that are not allied with us, unless they will become allies.” Standing up Rosco held out his hand to her. “Come let us at least walk the night market, let your subjects see that you’re not hurt or lost.”

Princess Judy takes his hand as she put's her own hand in to his. "Knowing my Father I'm sure you are right he mighty even. let some of the knights join in on the fun. I came out here tonight to try find something for my mother's birthday." she says wile thinking knowing her mother was happy enough. to have a her children around for her birthday and the hole kingdom. when any one in the family had a birthday coming up a ball would be held. Judy smile's lightly at the knight she barely knew. some how knowing he like the other knights were much to kind to others and the royal family.

"well then I have my duty to patrol the Night Market and you need to find a present for the Queen. I think I can walk with you around the Market and not worry to much. " offering her his arm he lead her into the stalls that he thought the queen would like gifts from.

She look around at the thing they had out at the night market. seeing all sorts of items that came form other kingdoms. a most gorgeous looking flower shape pin are brooch pop-out at her. Judy had notice it was quite rare looking and knew her mother loved flower shape pin's to put in her hair. "Excuse me Sir but how much do you want for this pin?" Judy asks the the man that ran the stall filled with all sorts of pins. she even found a necklace to her own likening but knew it was better to buy for other then for her self. ((I love the necklaces it's so pretty to bad I don't like the gold look. ))

Rosco smiled at her choice, the man behind the stall smiled and held the pen out. "for you my lady, one gold, it is for your mother right?"
"that is not what you would have asked me for Tomsay, last I saw some one ask you about that it was three coppers and one silver." Tomsay glared at Rosco then smiled.
"your right I am sorry," he bowed his head to princess Judy. "I was mistaken, it is as Guard Rosco says, three coppers and one silver."

"That sounds like a fair price to pay and yes your right it is for my mother. here you are Mr.Tomsay 3cooper en one sliver." she says to the shop keeper handing him the money. after taking it out of a small coin pouch she kept hidden away. Judy hope her mother would like this pen it could be used to hold a cloak. she did not understand why this shop keeper try the up the price to a gold coin. so suddenly for unless he wanted more money for it for a royal figure? Judy was polite o most people,kind and was some what all that smart. about others that would try to hurt her are do other horrible things to her.

"crazy little spend thrift." Rosco said as they walked away from the stall. "always trying to get whatever he can out of his customers, lucky you had me along most of the other body guards dont know a thing about prices here in the night market." he was going to have to return to Tomsay's stall latter and pick up that nice little necklace for her, after the way he tried to jip her for the bit of jewelery for her mother, had it been Tomsay's partner they would have gotten that for free and best wishes on it.

As they walk away form the stall she kept quite seeing her father with some. body guards noticing that he was talking to them about something. wondering if it was about the birthday ball for her mother? know her mother would be upset with her husband. if he planed something before her mother's birth day for the contest she would most. centrally yell at him or at lest try to get changed to a other date for it to start.

"I was thinking about making the contest start. 2 days after the queen birthday and try to add. 3 event's at most for the contest what do you men think about that?" the king ask his men knowing a lot of men may try for his daughter's hand. he was going to allow guards,knights,prince's and nobles to join in on the fun. he was going to make sure no enemy's would join. the contest unless they would try become allies.

“So my lady what are you planning for your mothers party? Will you be going to the queen’s ball? Last year you said you would not go to it again unless ordered by your father.” Rosco watched her watching the king. He could not understand why the king was so headstrong about his daughter. Why could he not just wait like every other man for their child to find the one that they would merry?

"I'm going this year I promise Mother that I'd would. since it may be the last time I'll be with my family. once being married off I may only be able to visit them rarely. if someone form far away land win's that is." Princess Judy says thinking about it. she starts to walk once more liking the idea of shopping at night. thinking about getting her sister's something as well there brothers.

Fallowing her Rosco sighed. “I don’t understand why your father would allow you to be sent away from here. You’re too well liked by everyone. The common man is not going to be happy if a prince from far away wins your hand.” Looking around he saw a thief picking a person’s pocket. Walking over he gently tapped the boys hand and smiled at the boy thief. Seeing that he was caught the boy dropped his thin knife and ran. Walking back to the princess Rosco smiled. “Silly thing should know not to pick a pocket in the Night Market, the watch will always catch you.” He pocketed the thin knife. “Will just have to turn this in at the end of the watch. Speaking of the watch if your father opens up the competition to the watch many of us are going to have to try just to save you from going to some far away kingdom.”

"If all of you kind gentlemen do that. then I'm sure one of you'll will be able to win against. how ever tries to win me to there kingdom at lest I know he won't. allow a other king's to join in that would be gross." she says thinking to her self if one them did win her hand. that means he could become a prince are a king if he was a knight. yet Princess Judy was not sure if that would work out with her elder brother.

“it would be wrong for one of the kings to join, they are way too old for you for, unless you’re talking about the king of Shayloren. Now he is just a year older then you.” Stopping at a booth he picked up a piece of jewelry, paying the owner he handed Princess Judy the necklace. “Here this is for your mother, would you give it to her from the Night watchmen?”

"Sure I will Mother will love it." Judy say's looking at the necklace to see what it look like. yet started to think about what type of contest her father had planed out. but quickly stop's thinking about it not recalling about the young king. how Rosco knew about King of Shayloren barely recalling when they had last met. knowing that he did have a crush on someone form inside of her family.
