Bio: Ryuu is a very normal 16yo guy. Likes video games, movies and just hanging out. Ryuu's dad is in the Army. He was shipped to Japan for 2 years and Ryuu and his mother now have to go with him. Ryuu's mother was born in Japan, and this trip for her is going to be a family reunion. For Ryuu though it's another school change and having to make all new friends again. Ryuu is also very smart and belonged to many clubs at every school he has been too. This has also helped him to make a lot of friends quickly.

Likes: Okonomiyaki, reading about the occult, fortune telling, dark colors, Enka music

Dislikes: Bugs, pop stars/music, sushi, pink

Bio: Mirai has a bit of an obsession with the occult. She reads books and magazines on it, has a deck of tarot cards and all sorts of stuff that she uses to try to read the future or contact ghosts. It's really just a silly school girl obsession. Some kids think she's weird, but she has a close group of friends that she trades magazines and ghost stories with. They've formed the Occult club at school. She wears a small crystal ball necklace that was given to her by her grandmother, whom she lives with while her father works. She never knew her mom. She is cheerful despite her odd interests and doesn't pass up a chance to offer a card reading to a new friend.

For Ryuu this day started like any other, get up take a shower, brush his teeth, get dressed for school and go and eat breakfast before his first day at a new school. "Hi mom, how are you doing today?"

"Good my little boy, are you ready for school already. Wow! you are such a good kid. Well lets hope you meet some new friends on your first day."

"Okay mom, well I am done already. I think I'm gonna get going to school now, don't want to be late for the first day at a new school."

"See you this afternoon, I will make your favorite for dinner tonight."

"Okay mom, go to go. See you later, if something comes up I will call you on my cell phone."

Ryuu walks to school and sees lots of new faces. He gets to the school and goes to the office.

"Hi there, I'm a new student here. I need to get my class schedule, can you help me?"

"Yes you came to the right place. What is your name?"

"Ryuu Smith."

"Okay, give me a second and I can find it." A few moments later "Okay here it is. Looks like you are in all honors classes, would you also like a list of the clubs we have Mr. Smith?"

"Yes I would like that, so is that all I'm going to need? Oh wait I also need a map of the school so I don't get lost."

"All that is in your packet that I'm giving you Mr. Smith. You have a good day and if you have any problems or questions just come back here."

"Thank you and have a good day." Ryuu then heads to his first class. On his way he gets many looks, both friendly and mean looks. Being the new guy, people won't always be so welcoming to him. "At least the girls here are cute though." He thinks to himself.

Ryuu opens the door to his first class and waits for the teacher to arrive, seeming he is 15 minutes early.

The teacher hasn't arrived yet, but there are quite a few students milling about in the room. They go silent as they see the new kid. Then whispers burst out as they all start to speak in hushed tones, wondering about this new kid in their classroom. He's cute, the girls whisper. Hope he's good at sports, the boys think.

In the midst of it all, Mirai sits at the back of the class, reading her friend's fortune with her tarot cards. "You're going to meet a handsome stranger today," she announces, oblivious to the stranger that just walked into their classroom.

Her friend blushes and looks to the front of the classroom. "Will we fall in love?" She whispers, looking Ryuu up and down.

"Nope!" Comes the chipper response, causing her friend to deflate.

"Why am I never lucky with guys?" She wails.

"I don't know Chiaki. But don't worry, you'll find one." Mirai smiles as she starts to place her cards back in her deck. Only then does she look up and notice the strange boy standing in the room. "Who's that?"

"My handsome stranger," Chiaki says with a sigh.

Mirai blinks. "I was right?"

Chiaki didn't reply as the door slid open and the teacher stepped in.

Mr. Nagai smiles. "You must be my new student," he says. "Ryuu Smith was it?"

"Yes I am Ryuu Smith, it is nice to meet you. As I can see by your plaque on your desk, you must be Mr. Nagai? It is nice to meet you. I will wait to introduce myself once class starts if that is okay with you sir?" Ryuu looks around at all the other students and thinks "This is going to be fun. I know I will be able to make a lot of new friends and the girls are cute in my class too."

"We'll just find you a seat while you wait," Mr. Nagai says. He sets down a folder on his desk and opens it to find his seating chart. "We have some open seats in the back row."

Mirai looks up. She is the sole occupant of the back row. She wanted the window seat. And it helps to keep any non-approved reading materials she might be looking at secret being so far away from the teacher.

"Feel free to take your pick," Mr. Nagai says to Ryuu. "I'll call on you once class starts so you can introduce yourself."

"Thank you sir." Ryuu walks back and sits right next to Mirai and just looks at her for a second "She is kind of cute, why not sit next to her." Ryuu thinks to himself. "Hi there I'm Ryuu and who might you be?" Looking right at Mirai.

Mirai smiles. "Mirai Sagara," she says, holding out her hand to him.

Holds his hand out to her and when their hands touch everything seems to just stop. The two of them are in their classroom but no one is moving. "What is going on this is really weird." Ryuu looks at Mirai and notices she isn't frozen either. "Do you know what is going on here?" Ryuu looks at her like it's her fault for a moment, but then he realizes that he doesn't know her.

Mirai looks around, her hair whipping about as she looks at her fellow students. "Out of body experience?" She asks, just as confused as he is. "I...I don't know." She pulls her hand away and looks down at it as though there's some answer there.

Out of no where comes a figure. The figure speaks "I am the sage of the 8 crystals. You are the one that have been destined to protect the elemental crystal shards. We are now in need of your power to find and collect the shard as they have been lost. Ryuu you are the warrior and protector of the crystals, and Mirai you are the binder of the shards. It is your duty to collect and rejoin the shards to make the elemental crystal. Your necklace is the home to the shards. When you collect them fuse the shards with your charm and you and Ryuu will gain powers based on that shard. For example if you find the element shard of fire, Ryuu will be able to use fire spells to kill off fiends and a fire shield to protect you and the crystals. You will alos gain some powers with each shard. It will let you bind and send fiends of that element back to where they came from. You can both do this, but now I must go as my power is very low. I will be here when ever you get another shard, good luck." Then the figure disappears and time starts again.

"What was that, maybe I should wait now that time has started again." Ryuu thinks to himself.

"That was....so cool!" Mirai announces enthusiastically. She immediately reaches out to snatch Ryuu's hand to see if it happens again. But it doesn't and she pouts. With a small huff, she turns over his hand and traces her finger along his palm. "You have adventure written all over your destiny," she says tilting her head as she looks at his palm. "Interesting."

"Hey that is my hand, but really you can see that just by looking at my hand?" Looking at Mirai "Hey we should talk about this after class okay?" Ryuu whispers to Mirai.

"I'm reading your palm," she says, letting him reclaim his hand. "I've got tarot cards too if you want me to give you a better fortune." She holds up her beloved deck of cards.

Mr. Nagai stands up and clears his throat. The rest of the class has trickled in and the bell chimes just as he gets their attention.

"Later," she says, quickly putting her cards in her bag so the teacher doesn't try to take them.

"We have a new student with us today class. Why don't you introduce yourself Ryuu?" Mr. Nagai says, looking back at Ryuu.

Ryuu walks to the front of the class "I am Ryuu Smith. My father is an Army Major and is here for two years, I enjoy sports, hanging out and I was in many different clubs at my last school. I hope to get to know you all and I hope we can all be friends." Ryuu then looks over at Mirai and thinks "I hope we can be more than just friends, if what that figure said was true. Ryuu then walks back to his seat and sits down.

"Thank you. I'm going to call roll. Hopefully you'll pick up a few names. I'm sure Mirai can help you with any questions you have," the teacher said before picking up a list of names and calling out each student.

Mirai smiles at Ryuu. She wonders if he'll join her club. There's definitely something out of the ordinary about him. He'd be a perfect addition!

After class is over Ryuu goes up to Mirai "What was that all about in class, crystals, fiends, what do you make of it? I don't really understand all of this, figured I would ask you about it." Ryuu looks at Mirai with a confused look on his face. "So you want to eat lunch with me today? Then we can talk this over a little more."

"I have no idea what that was about. But it sounds exciting doesn't it?!" She grins. "I'll show you where I usually eat," she says easily. "Do you need me to help you to your next class? What class is it anyway? I have math." She makes a face.

"Honors Math? That is the class I'm in next and yes I would love to join you for lunch, seeming you are the only person I know so far. I also think this is very strange, find crystal shards. It sounds like something out of some magical anime or something." Looking at Mirai with a smile. "Oh where are my manners, thank you for helping me out around the school."

She smiles. "No problem. It's not that hard to get around, but it's better to have someone show you. Come on." She starts walking towards the next class. "Do you think that's going to happen often? Time stopping and people popping up to talk about jewel shards?"

"Well if this is like any of the video games I play then yes he will be back. I still don't get it though, but I figure we will just know when the time comes. Kind of like in anime, where they just know how to use their powers but have some troubles at first and the person who summoned them sees they need help he comes and gives them the ability to use some kind of special attack. Stuff like that. So what clubs are you in?" Looking at Mirai.

She nods at his theory. She wonders if it could really be that easy, but at the moment, there's so little to go on that she can only just go with the flow. At the mention of clubs though, she perks up. "I'm only in one, but it's the best club there is! I'm the President of the Occult Club!" She says, flashing him a V sign.

"The Occult Club, we didn't have one of those at my old school. We should talk about that over lunch, and I can think it over then. So lets get to class, I really dislike being late. It's rude to coming after the bell, and it shows disrespect to both your classmates and teacher. When you are on time, it shows that you are ready to learn and you respect your classmates and teacher. I was taught this by my mother. She is such a nice, and sweet person."

Mirai nods. "This is the room," she says, sliding open the door. "There's a free seat, but it's not by me. I'll introduce you to the people you sit by ok?" She leads him over to an empty seat near the back of the class and introduces him to the people around him before leaving him in their hands. She gets into her desk just as the math teacher comes in. After Yue gets introduced, class starts at normal. Nothing strange happens during class and soon they're released into the halls once more.

Ryuu talks with his new classmates, then just listens to what the teacher has to say takes some notes and the class is quickly over. "So Mirai, What class do you have next? I'm honors chemistry next, wouldn't it be kind of weird if we were in all the same classes? Could I see your course sheet just to see?" Ryuu wonders if they had all the same classes.
