Is there anyone on here old enough who remember a late 70's song made popular in the 80's? It's called "Never Been To Me" by Charlene Duncan. It was made in 77, but went unnoticed until 82 then became popular. My mother listened to this song when I was child and I fell in love with the melody and now that I'm older I really love it because it's so beautiful and tells a tale of a few lady friends I know which they identify with. If you like ballads you should listen to it.

This song is a warning to not spend your entire life running away from commitment, and find happiness in fidelity which can apply to anyone.

This song, Charlene sings about a woman who lived a life of hedonistic pleasures searching for some utopia out there looking for something most women have under their very own roof....LOVE. Sadly, a lot of women think the grass is greener and let love slip away never to find it again cursed to be alone is this sad world. So it is a warning to anyone who is wayward.

What are your thoughts on this song?

Here is a link.

I love this song!! Whenever I heard in the radio, I'll tune the volume up and sing along with it.
Yeah, the lyrics are very meaningful, and for me, it's about not taking things especially love for granted. You can have all the luxury in the world, but the one thing that you really need the most, is just around the corner, but you didn't really took notice of it, until it's too late.

Wants and needs are two different thing...

That's my thoughts on it.. ;)

This song has actually inspired me to write a book, I have it posted in the literature forum. Charlene indeed sang this song so well and it's meaning is definitely one that is to the center of finding true happiness and love.
