I'd consider Cosplay an art, but if any mods disagree they can move it :P
does anyone here cosplay? I've been cosplaying for nearly 3 years now at my local cons, and it's a lot of fun and i've made a lot of friends through it! Right now I'm putting together a panel for my local con because I was asked to run the cosplay panel there.

I sort of cosplay? I've only done so a few times, and I can't sew worth anything. But I admire those that can. I'd definitely qualify it as an art. ;)

I've been attempting Lulu from FFX for two years. All because every sewing machine I find, doesn't work, or I don't have the belts or a means of having something that looks very similar to them.

i definitly consider it an art.
i cant go to any cons because the closest one is on an island away, and thats an extra 100 dollars i dont have, but for halloween i have done pikachu and mario which i would wear to a con if i could. it doesnt really help that i dont know how to use a sewing machine,
( i have to hand sew everyhthing, its such a pain -_-) so even if we did have cons here i would be one of those noobs

Why not try an upholstery needle to sew all the belts if the sewing machine fails you?

I should really STOP cosplaying. I own too many wigs and continue to forgo more important purchases to keep up the habit. Oh well. I said SHOULD, not WILL. Its far too much fun.

I cosplay as Ciel Phantomhive often, but I dislike the con atmosphere because I really don't like very much manga or anime, and people are so critical of each other! I love seeing cosplayers no matter how effective their costume is, because it's all about character, not how well you can sew. We've all had our 'hot glue gun and safety pins' costumes.
I always wonder though... Ciel Phantomhive's costumes are basically fancy period coats that can be worn casually and don't really look like costumes. But for people who make costumes of sailor moon and cardcaptor sakura and such, do you ever wear costumes outside of context? I feel like if I'm going to spend hours laboring on a costume I'm gonna have to be able to wear it more than a few times. What do you guys think?
