Who here reads or is interested in tarot cards?

I love them, it's a fun topic to study and it's a great way to look at the world through a different angle.
My favorite higher card is The Moon
My favorite lesser card is the Three of Cups

I started studying and reading in grade 10 and have developed quite well in my skill since then.

I am currently using the Robin Wood Tarot Deck

but I also have the Osho Zen Tarot Deck

and the Pagan Tarot Deck

So tell me GD...

- Are you interested in Tarot?
- Do you read Tarot?
- What deck do you use?
- What is your favorite card?
- What is you favorite spread?
- How do you think the use of Tarot benefits your life?
- What is your favorite means of blessing your cards?

Note; No trolls or flamers, if you don't care or think it's B.S. you're entitled to your opinion, but you have no real reason to be here.

I have practiced reading because my friend reads my cards almost weekly. I'm thinking about getting me a set and not sure what that set will be. I don't know what set my friend has, I know what it looks like and that's it. Tarot cards are also good for using them when casting spells and such.

I have the Goddess deck but I'm still learning how to read them. I know my family would freak if they knew I had them but I find them interesting. I'm not sure if I believe someone can tell the future with them but I think its a good way to force yourself to readdress what's bothering you in life by interpreting the cards.

To me, it's not really something you can just learn. I have the Gilded, Shapshifter, Animal Divine, Lover's, Native American, Day of the Dead, Halloween, basic, Fairy deck, Ocean, Pathfinder's, Rider-Waite, and those are the ones that I can remember off the top of my head by name. I have a whole basket full of somewhere between 20-30 decks. I normally just use the guilded because they are easier to channel energy through for me. I used to use the Pathfinder's a lot until my sister's dog ate them. I loved that deck though.

I don't know how to do tarot readings, but I -love- getting them. It's an awesome way to get indirect advice about upcoming life events and stuff, ^^;

I have a deck and do mainly simple readings.

Though once I did and more complex one for my cousin and it came to be.

I have the Rider-Waite deck.

But I am hesitant about using them in my house due to the fact my house is already haunted and it could call more out to here, you know? I don't want any more spirits here. It's creepy enough as is, even if they don't mean to scare me or anything.

Tarot cards do not call spirits. They are just simply used to channel energy. If you were using things like "psychic circles" or other medium devices then I would worry. I have yet to have problems with cards "attracting" any spirits and I do medium work as well.

But they attract spirits and I know that for a fact, but many things can and do attract spirits.

Because to say they don't is about the same (in my mind) saying that Ouija boards don't either. you're looking for an answer in spiritual medium. If you already knew the answer, which it would seem by just channeling energy, you'd know the answer period and wouldn't need to do it in the first place.

That's just how I see it .-.

But a Ouija board is conjuring up the inner energy of your own self in order to converse with the spiritual realm. Tarot cards are gaining your inner force in order to look into what is unknown. It has nothing to do with spirits, except using your own personal spiritual energy. Tarot cards should not be attracting anything.

Looking into yourself is never going to tell you the unknown.

If that is true, I see no reason why anyone should use them.

If you're looking into yourself, it isn't unknown in my mind. It just means you don't realize you know it yet.

-isn't actually trying to be an arse, but it's probably coming out that way anyway-

That's pretty much what I was getting at as well. A "Psychic circle" is basically a more detailed Ouija board and is used for medium work where as Tarot is not. Both are used to channel energy but not in the same way. It's kind of like saying that a pencil and a paint brush are "used for the same thing". Yes, they both produce art but it's not the same kind.

And I never said looking into "yourself", I said using your own spiritual energy. Of course looking into yourself will do little good. However you need your own personal spiritual energy in order to make the cards function.

I regard such a thing as superstitious nonsence, I've never seen or heard of tarot cards 'attracting spirits' outside of movies

I have a simple Hanson-Roberts deck that I got in Salem Massachusetts about 6 years ago now... I love it to bits. Most of the people in my RL have decks to be fashionable but they have no idea how to use it, or how to treat it.... There are a lot of mistreated and unhappy decks.

Its rather amusing how many people think they're nonsense until they get a reading done. During this years user event the Feast of Fools, I held a Tarot reading thread, and I believe out of the entire week only 2 people came to me saying that only one card had anything to do with their lives, which I think is pretty impressive for doing readings over the internet ^.^

But yeah, I love my deck. Back in high school I'd take it to school with me and I would do readings during lunch.
My favorite card is the 3 of Swords. I'm not sure why, but that card just sings to me in my deck. ^.^
My favorite spread is the Celtic Cross (10 card)

One thing I want to ask is how do people store their cards. I wrap mine in a piece of velvet and keep them in a red-wood box (its a deck-sized jewelry box)

EDIT: Starling is right Cat Eye, tarot doesn't attract spirits like that. Tarot is supposed to connect you and your soul and guide you down the paths of life. While it can't make the choice for you, Tarot shows you the doors and roads that could influence your final outcome.

I have all of my decks in velvet bags. The ones I read off of most are in silk bags though. I keep mine in a basket for now until I can get another dresser or desk that has a drawer big enough. I feel bad for having them in a basket. I feel like they are being mis-stored although I do take really good care of them.

I find it funny when people try to deny what you're telling them when you know you're right. I don't find internet readings really any harder than doing them in real life. Phone readings however, I refuse to do. I've done them over texts before too and was right on about it as well.

Well... I wouldn't call it B.S. but being a logic based person I do kinda wonder how it'd be accurate... sounds similar to the constellation stuff

I read Tarot Cards. My only deck is a set of basic cards. To be quite honest, I don't really know what it's called. It's comprised of the Major and Minor Arcanas and nothing else. I use them mainly for divination to see what areas I need to work on in my life. I rarely use them to attempt to predict the future.

I need to keep practicing with it. It's harder for me because I don't know all the meanings by heart yet.

A velvet bag, eh? I need to keep my eye out for one of those. Right now, my cards are sitting in the box they came in. :<

I made all my bags. Velvet and silk is kind of expensive but I figure that it's not that much fabric so why not spend the money? =P Memorizing the book meanings of the cards doesn't always work. It's easier just to "feel" what the card says rather to go by what a book says because the card can mean different things depending on how the reader reads. The lady that does my card readings, my sister, and I all read cards by feeling rather than what the books say although sometimes books can be a god guide for lay outs and things like that.

There is a science to astrology, actual star mapping, but the link to the universe around us and our individuality cannot be proven, so it's not surprising you are skeptical.
But alot of things in life require faith you know?

I know right!? I'm always giving readings to people who think it's funny, but when they get eerily accurate details they never talk to me again XD

True life requires faith... but I try to avoid it when possible XD... though I have looked at my "readings" for my birthday and birthyear but that's all mostly due to curiosity if it were accurate.

Mind if I ask... do you ever have inaccurate readings? If so... how often are they? (Sorry but I'm a very curious bug XD)

My Readings are accurate 99.99 percent of the time, because people who I read to almost always gasp and say 'OH! That's creepy because it applies to so-and-so situation in my life right now!'

and that's when I don't know them very well.

Through the issues the cards bring up, I talk with the person I'm giving a reading to and communicate what I believe the cards are saying, and it usually helps the person out.

On occasion I'll get one card that doesn't quite make sense, but we (the person getting the reading and I) are usually able to find somewhere it fits into their life.

I'm the same way. Like I said, out of every say 10 readings I get 2 that have one card that doesn't fit. I've never had a completely inaccurate reading

Same here. I get that card that doesn't make sense at first rarely but I normally make sense out of it.
