Appearance: Thin, drab brown hair, with the tiniest hint of silver in the right light, and brown eyes; slightly tall; wears old clothes (jeans, T-shirt) with occasional rips; very thin, to the point where you can see a faint outline of ribs underneath her shirt. Background: Shelno is a werewolf, and hasn't traditionally been accepted by people. Werewolves can change at any time*, a fact they kept secret from humans for fear of persecution, but when a community Shelno stopped in found this out, she was forced to flee earlier than expected.


*Terry Pratchett receives credit for this inspiration. His version of werewolves are my favourite.

Name: Liam
Sex: Male
Age: 18
Appearance: Short, spiky indigo dyed hair; just hits a bit over six foot tall; dark green eyes; normally found with an undershirt on and a pair of baggy jeans, without shoes.
Background: Liam is a youth who is only slightly muscular from swimming as much as he can. He is always trying to stay healthy, trying to stray away from junk food and sodas, but tends to fall in after a while. On the way for a swim at the community center, Liam headed into the tea shop.

Someone had thrown out a bathing suit. Shelno had found it while rummaging around for a new shirt - she hadn't quite removed her's in time during the full moon the week before - and had decided she might as well use it. Swimming was always nice, and humans were unusually squeamish about nudity.

The werewolf climbed over the bars to the outdoor pool and pulled off her clothes; the bathing suit was underneath. It clearly showed her ribs, but Shelno ignored them as she slipped into the water, not realising many people were wondering if she was anorexic. She pushed off from the wall and swam across the pool with surprising speed, and those that saw it didn't think quite as less of her any more, especially when they saw how much stamina she had.

After purchasing a snack and drink Liam returned to his jog towards the pool. He couldn't help but smile, he was finally getting signs of muscle tone forming, "About time too." He chuckled as he turned the corner and walked through the gates to the outdoor pool.

Liam moved over towards the deep end, setting his towel, drink, and snack down on the chair before he pulled off his shirt and shorts. He was wearing a pair of black and charcoal grey jammers under his shorts. He grabbed his goggles and looked over at the pool, surprised a bit at how fast a swimmer was, "Damn..." He muttered, slightly in awe of the speed, "I wonder if I could keep up." He grinned and slid his goggles on before diving in and swimming, trying to keep up with the fast swimmer. He was always up to a bit of competition, it kept him entertained while swimming, even if he didn't win.

Shelno arrived at the edge of the pool and turned, resting her arms against the wall of the pool. She looked at the man swimming after her, and raised an eyebrow. 'Interesting...' she muttered.

It took ten or so seconds for Liam to catch up to her at the edge of the pool, trying to catch his breath, "Wow, you're an amazing swimmer." He smiled, taking off his goggles, "Are you on a swim team or anything?"
He was captain of his swim team before he had graduated just this year.

("State of Finances". Basically, Mene is losing money because not enough people are donating and it might end up shutting down.)

Shelno grinned and shook her head. 'Nah. I just like swimming. You?'

"Was captain of the swim team before I graduated this year." He grinned back, "You could probably make it in the Olympics."

(Yeah...we may have to make arrangements to continue this somewhere else.)

Shelno laughed; the thought of a werewolf in the Olympics was ridiculous. 'I don't think so,' she said.

"Why not? You're good enough." He couldn't stop smiling, "Well, you want to race? I need to get in some more laps before I run out of time and got to leave."

'Sure,' Shelno said, glad the question gave her an excuse not to answer. 'How do we decide this race?'

"Which do you prefer distance or speed?" Eager to race now, he pulled his goggles back on.

Shelno looked down the length of the pool. 'Let's try distance,' she said. 'Who can do the most laps.'

"Sounds good. First one to quit is the loser?" He asked, getting ready to push off the wall.

Shelno nodded. 'Ready...and...Go.' She kicked off the wall and started swimming. She avoided going fast, to preserve her strength.

Liam dove into the water, speeding ahead of her and made a quick flip turn before swimming a slower and more even pace. He wanted to stay just a bit ahead of his new competition.

Shelno didn't care about being ahead, but she certainly cared about winning. She carefully moderated her pace with the experience that comes with having to cover long distances efficiently, with the result that she could keep it up for a long time if she wished.

After ten minutes of swimming, Liam slowed down a bit, now swimming next to Shelno, wanting to keep pace with her to make sure he wasn't making himself work harder for no reason. He felt fine since it was only under twenty-five laps so far. He could tell that it'd be a while before either of them was going to quit.

Shelno glanced at the man beside her. He wasn't tiring yet...he had more endurance than some humans she'd met.

Just like swim team practice. Liam smiled, stealing a few glances over at Shelno. He knew he could keep this up for a good half hour before he would get exhausted and need a break. His practices were always long and vigorous.

The minutes ticked by. After maybe a quarter of an hour, Shelno broke the silence. 'You're good. You must practice regularly.'

"Huh?" Liam shook his head, getting the water out of them, "Oh, ya. I'm the endurance swimmer of the team." He grinned, "Do you swim a lot?" He switched from freestyle to breaststroke, giving him access to talk and catch his breath.

Shelno nodded. 'Usually I'm swimming in rivers, though, so I'm used to having to go against currents every so often.'

"That sounds like a real challenge." He chuckled, trying to imagine the thought of swimming against the current. Hee fell back into silence, focusing on his swimming. After they had finished a total of forty laps Liam had stopped, "Aye, you win. Amazing, that was an amazing race." He beamed, trying to catch him breath.

Shelno grinned. Her breathing was only slightly heavier. 'I've done about a hundred before,' she said. She stretched. 'Not for a while, though.'
