Amy stood at the large glass window harboring the aquarium's biggest prize. She frowned as her eyes tried to find the tank's inhabitant. She had gotten hired only a few weeks ago, being the top of her class in the field of Marine biology, she was a quick hire. Amy was lucky to be put in the new section of the aquarium. It was now her job to tend to and care for the merman that had been captured. Despite her degree, she couldn't help but regret everything. She didn't like seeing animals in cages. When she got her degree her intent was to go into the field and prove that keeping animals in cages is wrong and cruel.
Now she had a new mission. She wanted to learn from this merman. She wanted to help him. Maybe she could set him free. Today was her first day being alone to do all of her duties for the merman. The staff was forbidden from talking to him, but if no one else was there, what would it hurt?
Amy put her hand up on the glass and rested her forehead against the window. Where was he? Would he even give her a chance to talk to him and try to help him? "Where are you at?" She mumbled as she glanced around. She looked to her right where the staff door was. Visitors weren't aloud on water level with him, the owners feared him saying something or attacking someone. So the visitors could only view him through this big window. Soon enough though Amy would need to go feed him, maybe she could get him to come to the surface for once and get him to talk.
