~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ ~~~
Night had almost fallen; darkness surrounded the trees and swirled through the grass. These woods resembled darker, harsher wilderness, and the forest she had been born in used to have warm oaks that never lost the warmth of the sun. Allie walked slowly through the woods towards the human settlement in the distance. She could see the smoke rising slowly in the sky that was red and orange with the promise of the sunset. Her black hair, sometimes allowed to hang around her neck freely, was currently tied up in a loose braid that fell to the small of her back; her clothing had been bartered from a human merchant with a little bit of bribery and some elven magic. She wore a white blouse and vest over dark brown pants and boots. Her belt around her waist had an elven sword; however, to the human eye, her sword looked rather plain. At the same time, her features looked softened and her ears looked rounded. In truth, her ears and face had points and lines that made her look like an elf. She had an illusionist spell that kept them all from recognizing her otherwise elven look.
With a sigh, she walked across the grass and paused near an evergreen. She leaned against the scratchy trunk and crossed one leg over another, leaning against the trunk. Her golden brown eyes scanned the place as she tried to decide whether it was worth it to go in or not. Finally, she decided that it would be fine and walked into the place with a slight smile on her face. A few people headed home from work in the fields. She ran a hand over the plants in passing, then kept up her pace.
She walked into the bar, then sat at a table towards the back. A couple of men gave her looks, but she hoped they staid back. After all the other troubles in her life, she didn't want any trouble. She took a slow sip of her drink; her eyes remained on that instead of the humans. If she hadn't wanted to sit down so bad, she could have staid out in the forest. Oh well; too late now.
Name: Alexander Le'strat
Age: 24
Personality: Irresponsible, Troublemaker, but very friendly.. Or so he seems.
Race: Human
Alexander was very new to the area. Mainly for reasons of his own personal decision. He walked along the path of the town. As the night slowly started to fall. Alexander had a pack over his shoulder as he looked up at the raising moon. He felt like a few of the men. Going home after a long days of work. He let out a sigh, walking past one man, and taking the small pouch of money from his side before continuing on. Obviously walking a bit faster and tucking the money into his shirt. Of coarse Alex had enough of his own, but it was the thrill that had him. Not that it was much of a thrill to steal a families income.
Either way he found himself at an inn for the night. Staying at an inn was something he rarely did. For the main reason, it was too expensive. But that night, he had a few extra coins. Maybe he would find a nice girl to spend the night with as well. He went to the bar. Ordering a nice large pint of beer. It only took about three or six of those before the sweat-greasy man next to him became his best friend.
He spun around in his stool, eyes meeting the white dressed figure in the back of the bar. "Excuse me.." He said, getting up and walking to the back of the bar where she was. Taking the seat, a small hiccup rose from the pits of his throat. "Good evening ..(hiccup).. my fair maiden!" The obviously drunk human said to the woman. He went to put his pint on the table, but missed the edge as it fell to the floor. "Oh no!" He said, looking around confused. "Someone ..(hiccup).. dropped something!"
Ah, why did she bother? No elf was her friend; no human either. The elven woman with elegant, graceful lines to her face could hold her drink. In fact, she was still on her first one and more savoring the taste of it than actually gulping it down. The harvest had been so-so; the men wanted only to lose themselves in their drink and the women that may or may not have been a part of this bar. Unlike the other women, Allie didn't have a desire for a man to take her up to his room. She had the elven disdain for humans....she would protect them, but.
She would never think about mingling with them. Which rendered the question of why she was there rather hard to explain. Her brown eyes studied the humans. She had no reason to really dislike humans, but then again....she was an elf. She looked like a human to all appearances, but she didn't sleep. Always she walked among the outskirts of life; always she tried to avoid everyone else. Now...what did she really want? To be left in peace? She was a sociable creature, but she didn't really want to be sociable when the only company was drunk humans.
Her gaze lifted as one of them caught sight of her. She tried to spell herself to not look so attractive; the spell was easy because he was drunk. He was by no means an unattractive specimen of human; however, his lack of sobriety made thinking of the human as possible company very hard. She watched him sit, listened to him try to talk...and moved her boot as he dropped his beer right onto the floor. Oh boy...
"Does drunkenly coming up to a woman normally work?" she asked, twirling a hair around her finger. Which illusion to make this one walk off...
Alex of coarse for a few seconds was fixated on his pint that had fallen to the floor. He was wondering if he should pick it up, or even a magical house cat would clean it for him. He finally leaned down, picking the now empty pint up, and setting it on the table. Thoughts of wonder ran threw his mind, although all of them seemed to run right back to where the bloody cleaning kitty was. A man started to walk towards the spill, To which right away Alex got up, holding his hand up to stop the man. "Allow me!" He said in a chivalrous voice.
He started to untie his vest, pulling it off of his head. Alex had a white shirt on underneath, so he wasn't bare in the least bit. He laid the vest over the spill, even going so far to pat the nice vest down. Being sure it would soak up all of the liquid before standing again, bowing to the man he had stopped. Allowing him to cross over his now probably soaked vest. He took the seat he had stolen before, looking back to the fair woman with pointed ears. Hearing her comment. Although it simply did not sink in.
"Hey hey hey.. Who ever said I was drunk!" He said with a small hiccup at the end. Holding his finger out in front of him. Pointing towards one of five fair maidens that circled his vision. "Hold still please..." He asked as she still kept spinning. Alex could in fact hold his own when it came to drinking, but not when he drank too much.
"That is not fair. You need not play tricks on me." He continued. Although honestly still not completely sure what she had said to him moments ago.
She wouldn't even need to bother with an illusion. Simply blowing on him would be enough to knock him over. She watched with a simple black eyebrow raised as the man dropped his vest onto the floor. Chivalrous, perhaps...but also disgusting. She wrinkled her nose a little at the sight of it, that nice vest soaking up alcohol on the floor. With a sigh, she sat back just the tiniest bit and peered at him as he sat down again.
Who was he to just walk over and sit? Obviously, he wanted only one thing from her. And yes, she was not interested in such things as spending the night with a human. Her illusion magic worked to make her pointed ears look like rounded ones. She also had slightly brushed over her appearance so she wasn't her beautiful self. Hopefully, that and a little nudging back towards the bar would nicely get rid of him.
She watched his finger with slight amusement; it could go either way: she could be actually making him think there were five of her, or he could just be drunk. currently, she wasn't doing any amazing illusion besides making herself look human and ruddy. What he didn't know wouldn't hurt him, right? With a soft smile, amused really, she followed his finger with her brown eyes.
"Tricks? Who's playing tricks?" she asked simply. She curled her hair along her finger more, and there was a smile on her face. Okay, so Mr. Drunk was amusing, and she had been bored. At least she could have a fun story to go tell...someone. "I don't believe I'm playing any tricks on you. And you're so drunk that you can barely sit there." She decided to go ahead and be a little teasing; she made three of herself sitting there, blurred and weird and oh so hard to tell which one was real.
Alex looked at the three images of the woman. All dazed, all moving, and creating about fifteen copies of the same person. He shut his eyes for a second. Holding his head in place as if to stop the spinning. He was not feeling sick just yet, more so confused. After all, there were now fifteen of the same girl around him. He paused for a second, looking up at the ladies. "My name is Alexander." He said very suddenly. Swaying a bit back and forth.
"I should tell you a story!" Alex said this about three times before he would continue, "I am on a special quest! In search for a pretty shiny necklace." The tale was nothing more than that. A Tall Tale. Most humans knew from when they were kids. It explained a demi-god, with enough power to fight off an entire army by himself. He was able to defend the city of Azroth. There they made him king. Although now a days the city is long forgotten. But it is said the necklace is in the heart of the city. Around the neck of the fallen warrior. The Necklace is said to give god-like powers to a simple man.
"I am going to find it. I know right where Azroth is.." Alex said in a low whisper before everything went black. His eyes shut and his entire body shut down. He fell backwards off of the chair, his room key falling out of his pocket right after.
((xD Drunk-ness! Sorry its short lol.))
((Oh, he's a riot. XD))
Allie raised an eyebrow. She seemed to have been doing that since he had gotten to her table and sat next to her; her eyebrow just couldn't go any higher. Humans always seemed to make fools of themselves, and she couldn't believe that yet another one had decided to just pass out drunk where she had to watch. She was still amused, however. He had that much going for him. She usually just brushed men off, but this man was making a fool of him. Which made being amused so easy.
She dropped the three of her; poor guy didn't need to throw up all over her too. Instead, she just swirled her beer around and waited for him to get to the point. He said something slirred, then tried again. Then tried a third time. She put her hands on the table and looked at him. She should have told him her name, as etiquette demanded, but he went on before she could put it out there for him. Allie watched, amused, listening.
That old story?! She'd only heard it a million times before, and nothing good had ever come of it. Her brown eyes stared as the man talked on about a quest that he was on, off to find the necklace that never really existed. Azroth? She snorted in disbelief, then looked back at him....as he passed out. Her brown eyes looked down at the man passed out on the floor. What was she going to do with him? Seriously? At least he was staying at the inn....and hey, a little adventure off to something else. She had to at least make sure he made it through life okay.
Sighing, she scooped up his room key and tucked it in her pocket, then tucked a few gold pieces next to her mug. With her human illusions still up, she moved and lifted him up in her arms. She carried him out of the bar and to the room that matched the number of the door, then set him down long enough to get the door open. It was hard to carry him for the most part, but she had strong muscles from being an elf. Sighing, she hauled him into his room and laid him down on the bed as carefully as she could.
With a grunt, she looked down at him and made sure he was comfortable on the bed....then she set a bucket next to his bed so he could have a nice place to vomit in the morning. Allie crossed to the desk and sat at it, peering at the book on it. So, while he slept off his drunken-state, she crossed one leg over the other and began to read.
Alex had been swimming in his own mind. Mainly from not wishing to wake up on his own, but also from all he had consumed from the previous night alone. He tossed around in the sheets while a dream played in his head. Alexander was playing in a field. The field itself was very large with a red shy, and gray grass. There was no body in there with him besides a statue of an Angel. Although the Angel herself had her hands gripped around something, and her face was half-torn off. He slowly walked closer and closer to the statue. Suddenly stopping as something was holding him back. Although as he turned, he woke up. Seeing the girl on the other side of the room. Sitting at a desk.
The Sun was peeking in the room. Shining right on his eyes. Although he couldn't take his eyes off the girl. She was simply beautiful. Then the feeling of guilt set in. What had he done last night? "I'm sorry about whatever I did last night.." Alex said suddenly. Sitting up slowly on the bed. Rubbing the back of his head. It was pounding up storm, and his throat screamed for water. But he did not get up right away. Then again, he was still taking in the fact he was in a room, with another girl, and it was the next morning.
Allie flipped through the book as he slept. She was thinking about her family, about what had happened....about the twins that loved her but had brought such ruin upon their family name. There was no real way to say what they had done or what was just legend. Her long black hair fell upon her shoulder as she flipped another page. Her two brothers were the closest people to her growing up, but she didn't know why they had decided on evil. Or, supposed evil. Allie hadn't seen them since...well....
She lifted her head as he woke up. The thought that he would think that something awful had happened crossed her mind as he did so; but she knew that he hadn't come anywhere near her. She shook her head a little, then smiled coyly. Her dark brown eyes were guarded but not, and she set her book carefully back on the desk. Poor guy. Maybe she should have waited outside, but she didn't feel like leaving him when he was drunk. And, the adventure sounded better than just wondering anyway.
"Nothing happened," she said, crossing one leg over the other. Her black hair fell over one shoulder as she did so. "I promise. I just dumped you on your bed after you passed out last night, then got caught up in your book."
"Ahh, okay.." Alex said as he leaned up a bit more. Holding the back of his head while it pounded greatly. It reminded him like waves crashing on a beach in the middle of the storm. He threw his legs over the side of the bed. Sitting against the bed facing the window to the outside. It was a warm day out, and seemed to be not a cloud in the sky. Although he could not tell from his position. For all he knew, it could have been raining all night. Well no, then the air would be filled with the certain smell the rain seemed to leave behind.
His memory of the girl from last night slowly came to him. He had told her his grand plan. To find the necklace, that hopefully would grant him with enough power to take over his city. Although she did not need to read too much into him. Alex's reasons were his own.
"You probably think I am crazy. Searching for such a thing." He said to her. Glancing in her direction.
The elven people told stories; they sand their songs of dragons, of humans. Knights, magicians, brave battles to win the wars of attrition. This was the first part of Allie's life, and as such she hadn't seen much of the humans. But the stories her people told, of how humans would slay each other for land and gold, made her stomach turn. She was forced to live among them because of something she herself didn't do. Her family name was cursed by any and all who heard it, because it wasn't just the humans who stirred up trouble...
As he sat up more and looked sick, she gauged whether or not he was actually thinking about her or not. Did he remember her? She guessed that, with his drunken state, she could have just left him on his bed and gone on her merry way. However, Allie loved sticking her nose where it didn't belong. And running along with this Alexander? Well...that seemed like just the right amount of trouble for Allie to get herself involved with. Why not? A good adventure would finally allow herself to get lost so far that the elves couldn't find her again.
She brushed through her pack, then pulled out a white handkerchief. Smiling to herself, she plucked out three leaves, then laid her cloth on the desk. She walked over and offered to him the herbs. Did she think he was crazy? Well...he certainly looked drunk and in over his head, but that was nothing to be surprised about after his night. As for crazy for looking for lost treasure? She twirled the three leaves amongst her fingers in thought.
"Crazy? Maybe. These herbs will help your splitting head ache." She gave him a soft smile, a knowing smile.
