Since no one really seems to know what Dead Fantasy is, I wonder if any of you guys know of another obscure game/series that's epically amazing and sadly unknown.
Legend of Dragoon had one of the most amazing games I've ever played- it had lovable characters, a deep and intriguing plot that you just couldn't put down, and for the time period that it came out in, superior graphics. However, because it game out on the exact same day as Final Fantasy VII, few people ever bought it- obviously buying the much anticipated and also awesome Final Fantasy game instead.
However, as much as I LOVE FFVII, I actually prefer Dragoon.... And get this, Dragoon was an amazing RPG that was actually made in America- how often do you get that?
I could go on about it, but you get the idea. The game had it's flaws- all games do- but it was still a wonderful experience anyways.
So are there any fellow Dragoon lovers or am I alone again?

OMG, I remember this game! A lot of people didn't have high hopes for it before it came out because of how much it seemed to clone the FF games, but man did it surprise everyone. Everything was well constructed, a bit generic at times but the combat system made up for it. Rhythmic button pushes should really be done more often, it keeps you at your heels and is much more fun than just watching and directing your characters to go attack an enemy.
I just wish we could see a prequel a la Lufia though... I wanna know what happened to all those other people you fought in that side battle thing. And honestly, when playing it I sort of feel at times like it is a sequel to something and they were building up to telling what had happened before.

Oh man I remember that game.
I never actually owned it myself, but a friend of mine had it and we took turns playing through it.

Yeah.... I really wished they had made a sequel... I think that if they WERE to make a sequel and advertise it enough, the dragoon series as a whole would get a lot more popular.
The reason why the first game, awesome as it was, never really sold too well, was because A. it came out on the same day as FFVII and B. It was not nearly as advertised as said FF game, thus it did not sell, and thus it remains unpopular even though it's an amazing game.

I played Legend of Dragoon back in the day, still have it on my shelf actually. And I distinctly remember having a good time with it. It was a good feeling when you'd hit each square. But I gotta say, after all these years the only thing I really remember about LoD is the terrible voice acting.

That is true, looking at it now I'm particularly horrified at the voice acting as well, but you have to keep in mind that that game was one of the earliest ones that had to do lip syncing on top of their voice acting. Previous games generally didn't have good enough graphics that such were required, and even other games like Zelda that came out relatively the same time, didn't have characters distinctly speaking, just action sounds and such- therefore it didn't require lip syncing.
The voices themselves used in Dragoon weren't bad, but the horrible lip syncing ruined the feel of the voices.... That said, Dragoon was one of the pioneers of lip syncing in video games, and designers have since learned from these mistakes.

Best. Video. Game. Ever.
Nuff said...
Actually, it is still by far my favorite game and I actually still play it from time to time. I really wish they would remake the entire game for the PS3. I'd have a fuckin' orgasm if they did.
Rose is still the boss.

LoD is one of those games that's on my list of titles to own and play before I die.

Trust me, it's worth it. The game does have it's flaws, but for the time period it came out it's top notch in terms of gameplay, graphics, and features.
And the plotline is epic. There is simply no other way to describe it.
And yes, Rose is amazing. I friggin cried when she died.
It'd be awesome if they remade this game- they should make a prequel too- telling the story of Rose and the original dragoons.

I've played Legend of Dragoon. I enjoyed it.
I never got to finish it though because someone stole it.......and switched out their broken ps2 with my working one....so I sold almost all my playstation stuff. So now I just have a Wii, gamecube, xbox 360, and the handhelds.

I played it when it first came out and my daughter just played through it out of sheer boredom not too long ago. She was surprised that, for such an old game, it was pretty good.

LoD is one of my favorite games ever and I agree, way better than FFVII but then again, my favorite FF game is VI anyway and my favorite game is practically unheard of.

hahaha! Yes!
I absolutely loved the game when I had it and a working PlayStation.
Never got past disk 2 due to the PlayStation breaking down.
It did have great features and story.
...
Kinda wish they would remake it with updated graphics and everything, that would make a good fanbase for the game happy I would guess ^^
