I remember hearing that we should use the report button for lots of things. From serious incidents, to a thread in the wrong place. Am I right? Was a thread that mentions how to use it as mentioned above. That thread is right HERE

Well... the problem with this is that when I hit report, under the message box is this:

Note: This is ONLY to be used to report spam, advertising messages, and problematic (harassment, fighting, or rude) posts.

If it is true that we should use it to report threads in the wrong place and such, then I must ask that this be updated as it is very misleading to a new user.

I'm with The Wandering Poet. I frequently use the report button, but for quite a while I was scared to, just in case my problem wasn't big enough.

Also would like to note, in said thread I linked I mentioned this exact same thing almost a year ago. (I can link the post on command if a staff requests a bit of proof :))

I can see how it can intimidate new users and make them not want to use it. Maybe add that it can be used to report wrong posts from yourself as well.

That isn't something that I can find so I can alter it, probably only Inso has access to it. Which is why I made the little reports guide to let people know what it's for, and to prompt them to read it if they've made enough posts to be likely to stick around :)

@ Jelly - thing is it makes me nervous whenever I report something o.o cause I'm ... well kinda a diehard rule follower >.< (try to be anyways)

Honestly I would use it much more if that message were different... as normally I just let everyone else report something.

could also have a drop down menu, to select a reason for a report. Instead of typing it in. Misplaced Thread, Spam, Offsite Advertising, Trolling, etc. That way it's categorized, and easier for mods to handle since they'll know what to do ahead of time.

Not sure if it's possible, since sending a report creates a new topic in the modly forum and we probably have to have SOME content for it to be posted.
