I wasn't a particularly big fan of her music, and her drinking problems were notorious, which usually bores me, since I'm not a fan of tabloid drama either.

But she had an excellent voice, and 27 is really too young of a age to die (as it was for Jim Morrison, Brian Jones, Jimi Hendrix, and Kurdt Cobain etc.) so it's unfortunate.

I'm not shocked. She'd been a zombie for the past five years.

Yeah, I think the way the press hounded her after she had a few too many in too too many places probably messed with her head. I think the thing that is hardest for a lot of these musicians is they want the money, and they want people to enjoy their music, but they can't handle the way everything else they do is under public scrutiny too.

I am more concerned with the deaths in Norway rather than Amy dying.

As is most of the world, or it'd be front page news. However I think comparing the two is like comparing grapefruits to avocados. Would Amy Winehouse's living have saved the kids in Norway? no. Does their death supercede hers somehow? It shouldn't. The figures are probably bigger now with a wider population than was in the 70s, but as Blue Oyster Cult said, 40,000 men & women die every day. How is one death better or more deserving of attention than another? It is sad that Amy Winehouse is dead. She had a messy life, and an all too brief career. Don't make her any less than she already was by saying some other deaths are somehow 'better' than hers.

Or do if you want, it's your perog. But then the Norwegian attack is a political news thing; this is the music forum. So why is it relevant to an Amy Winehouse thread?

It really didn't help when she posted youtube videos of herself doing crack.

It might've helped her, actually. At least it meant a few ppl noticed and suggested she go to rehab! (altho again, with the no no no...)

whatever happened to that other fellow who the press was lambasting for his drug habit around the same time, I wonder. Pete somebody? he was in a band called Babyshambles, I think.

Yep. No one said she was bright. And as said, I'm not a huge fan of her music either, just an observer that yet another media figure has shuffled off. I do hope her family and friends and such are going to be ok tho. It sucks when anything like this happens for the people closest to, and it's also sad for those who are bigger fans than I am.

I'm just sad because she had a good voice, and she was too young to go so soon. But that's that. Nothing anyone says is going to change this.

I can't say I'm shocked, but it's still very sad. She was way too young. :(

Did you know there's a list of musicians that died at exactly age 27? It's strange. Kurt Cobain, Jimi Hendrix... a few others. o.O

i knew it was coming sooner or later. i dont think she had any talent but this age of people liked her for some reason. the same people that bought her cds gave her the money she used to do heroine and crack and who knows what else. i would say its a complete shame, but her death is insignificant. with hendrix and and cobain, at least, they revolutionized a genre. amy winehouse was all but forgotten anyway. her death will make people remember her for a few more minutes and then she'll fade back into the obscurity she deserved.

I dunno... Amy Winehouse paved the way for artists like Duffy and Adele. I think she made quite an impact (though admittedly, not as much as kurt cobain or jimi hendrix).

15 Rock Stars Who Died at 27 Years Old - Spinner
Whenever people mention the 27 Club I love to point out that they miss one of -the- biggest celebs to die at 27- The World Trade Center.

Oh yes.

It may not have had a hit record, but it was only up for 27 years before it 'died' and we all heard about it and were shocked in one way or another when it passed.

I'm not a fan of Amy Winehouse, nor do I approve of the media's persistent digging into her life, but now that she's in another place, I wish her and her loved ones the best. And I know that many people day that they don't care and what not, but I don't believe that I should speak ill of the deceased.

It's unfortunate she died from an overdose but sooner or later she would have died on something else. I vaguely remember if she had a good voice or not but I'm assuming it was good, too bad she got hooked on something and plopped dead. Hopefully her husband or ex(?) should have helped her and got her out and not follow her. I assume he will end up just like her sooner than later. It's sad that someone so young had to die so early. If only she had help but those help didn't help so I suppose nothing would. Though it seems a lot of celebrity are plopping dead, they should take care of their health than think of something unhealthy for their body. As always, it is their choice. Unfortunately her choice lead her to her death.

She had bipolar disorder on top of addiction problems. Stress makes bipolar worse. Addiction is a hard thing to over come and simple just going to rehab isn't enough to help sometimes. She was sick and it's hard to help yourself once you're so far gone. I think it's sad that people judge her just because she had addiction problems.

I'm not a huge fan of hers but she did have talent. It didn't surprise me when I heard she died but it's still sad.

Wasn't so much an OD as death by misadventure. Normally you can't die from one X tablet, which means whatever she was on wasn't X.

Wow, that's kind of rude. o.O Are you saying that because I bought her album, I pushed her to die? Because I 'gave her the money'? Just because you don't like her, doesn't mean her death was deserved. No death is any less than someone else's.

I'm not a big fan of hers, But I did like her voice, I'm not saying she should have gone to rehab, but She could have made better dissensions then being Under the Influence,
She may have been too far gone, But even at the point there is a way to stop what your doing and take control,
I don't think she deserved to die, And I'm sure others think that too,
But then again everyone has their own opinion and there's no reason to hate on ones if it's not agreeing with yours in anyway .
