So I have this horrible curiosity complex... mind you, I am not gossipy, because I understand when things are not my business and I do NOT ask questions. But that doesn't stop my brain from thinking things... And I feel so nosy...

For example, whenever I see a user on Menewsha is banned, I always wonder why. :ninja: I feel guilty for thinking this, because it is none of my concern and no place for me to know that information... but that little curious part of my brain just really wants to know!! Its very frustrating!

Here's one worse-- Whenever I see obituaries in the paper of a young person, or I see someone has passed away on their facebook wall but nothing is said as to why... that's another curious button. What happened?! Is that sick of me to want to know? Or maybe it's just human nature?

Another one is when someone I know (who isn't a close friend of mine) has ended a very long relationship. Was there scandal? Cheating? Betrayal? (WOW those trashy reality shows are catching up to me!!) :(

I sincerely hope I'm not going to be judged by anyone. It's not like miserable people make me feel better, it just satisfies my need for information. I don't know how to explain it...

Does anyone else feel like this?!

Well that's just your nature I guess, everyone has the right to be curious it's finding the right time to ask the questions that's difficult. :) Personally I'm not like this but I will be once something really obscure comes up... :P

Oh, I'm exactly the same way! Like you, I of course realize that some things simply are none of my business and I shouldn't ask and may never know, but I do occasionally ask questions (regarding much smaller issues than the ones you gave as examples) that some might think are nosy. I'm not always the best at judging what is okay to ask about. Doesn't help that some people are much more private than others, so some people will be offended by a perfectly normal question! But I never ask anything that I wouldn't feel comfortable being asked myself. I just try to word things in a way that implies "If you want to talk more about this I wouldn't mind at all, but we can also drop it right here and now if you don't want to go further." That's assuming it's someone I'm friends with and talk to - news stories, obits, and the occasional relationship status update on facebook from someone I never talk to has to go unaddressed, of course.

I can't tell you why any one user was banned, but I can tell you that a lot of accounts are listed as "banned" but their account is simply deactivated because their email address stopped working. More on that here.

I think a majority of people are like that. The only difference that makes one nosy or not is if they act upon it.

I'm always thinking these things, so don't feel alone! I think it's a natural human instinct

One really nosy question that I have to bite my tongue on constantly is: "Why the hell did you get such and such tattoo" or "why did you decide to put three inch gauges in your ears?!" I don't particularly care if a person has body mods, but when I see really stupid (in my opinion) tattoos, I always have to wonder. Really stupid tattoos in my eyes are things like sunglasses tattooed on your face.

I'm also really nosy when it comes to people's life stories, so when people tell me something personal, I have to watch it so that I don't interrogate them. Don't get me wrong, I don't want the info for gossip, but simply because I'm interested and probably want to help.

I feel similarly a lot of the time. XD I get curious very easily, but I try my best not to act on it. I'm terrible, because when I hear something that gets my attention while I'm walking by, I'll slow down and listen out of curiosity. >///<; And I eavesdrop on my parents all the time, that way I know whether or not if they're in a good mood, where the heck they are in the house (I can't always figure it out immediately), or if they're fighting. I try not to, but my house is really quiet. XD I try not to ask about things, and carefully word questions when I do ask, because I don't want to seem rude. ^^;

I think it may be a pretty normal human trait. We like to know what's happening around us. I'm sort of that way too. I feel uncertain when left out of the loop.

I think pretty much everyone feels like that. Like, whenever I see a fight, I always wonder why the hell they even fought in the first place. Was it them being ghetto or was it them having tine tempers? So, no, you're not alone.

Oh thank God!! Haha, I'm glad I'm not just going crazy then! I really thought I was a horrible person for pondering these things  But I'm glad I'm not alone.

This thread has made me feel less crazy as well.

My favorite thing is when someone is saying something really interesting about themselves and then they're like "oh, I'm probably boring you," because then I get to say "NO, NO, TELL ME EVERY DETAIL OF THIS STORY, I HAVE TO KNOW!"

I always wonder about too many things, it could be something as small as an inside joke that i don't get between 2 people that just walk by on the street and i HAVE to know what it means...but of course i don't know those people so i didn't ask, so i just thought about it for a long time and got nothing lol. So no, it's not weird to be curious, i think it is some kind of need for ever growing knowledge, or any other big fancy term i can think of XD.

I'm always very curious about everything that happens, especially if i've known people it involves in some way. I'm really rather incredibly nosy. Only i prefer inquisitive, because i seldom pursue an issue if it doesn't directly involve me or somebody i care for. I think it's natural to be that way really.

I feel the same way. Humans are naturally curious and you shouldn't feel bad for being curious. Some people are more curious than others.

I for one, am just like you! I always wonder why and my mind wanders. I find myself doing that alot.

Haha, you guys worry too much, curiosity is totally natural, nosiness is just the extreme of it; like anything there's always extremes. If you think about it, nosiness is a bad habit that's been cultivated and encouraged by the lower aspects of society, mainly the tabloid press, so it's hardly suprising that there's that ingrained feeling of guilt with regard to any level of curiosity, even the very mildest.

Most of the time in situations like that I'm just like "I wonder what happened" then forget about it two seconds later. XD I have really bad A.D.D. though so my mi nd doesn't have time to really get into the "noisy" extreme of it. Plus, I don't care enough to ask most of the time. I do have a big mouth sometimes and do ask people things I shouldn't but that's only if they say something in front of me and I don't know the whole story.

I tend to have a rather dangerous sense of curiosity, which can get me in trouble. nothing crazy like pushing some nutty limit or border to find out something that's probably not all that special. but when I get curious about a certain topic or thing, I tend to research the absolute heck out of it. curiosity leads to learning, and learning to knowledge. curiosity is the main reason I always learn things, and knowledge is power.
