Question!
I was talking to a friend the other day and was worried about my lack of memories when I was 2 to 3 years old. My friend asked why since his earliest memory is around age 4. It was only then I realized that it must be rare for some people to have early memories as early as I have of me. I have a lot of memories from just before a year old until I moved to a certain place. Then I have a ton of memories from age 4 on. It is just a fact of life for me.

So my question for you.... how far back can you remember? Now they have to be your memories. Not stories and pictures you have been shown. Okay? Great! Type away! I am excited to hear from all of you!

Hmm... this is interesting. :)

When I was also 4 years old.
I remember sitting on a swing made of clothing drinking my milk in a bottle and my mom was taking pictures of me. LOL

That is a pretty neat memory and like his at age 4. I was almost a year old, living at what my family refers to as either the pink house or the panther house (it was a pink house where one night mom said a big cat). I was sitting in a car seat on the front porch with my milk bottle. My brother had a stick and I remember being jealous of him. Then he dropped it and I no longer cared.

I remember my childhood more than my math lectures. LOL.
Sometimes when I think about them I could actually imagine even the color of the surrounding in that moment.

I have gaps in my memory due to trauma/suppression.
My earliest memory was when I was about 6 months. I confirmed the details with my parents by describing my surroundings since we moved a lot, it was easy to tell when it came from.

Hm, I'm not sure, though there was this vivid memory of my dad changing my diaper for me...was probably around 2 or 3 at that time.

My earliest vivid memory is being 4 or 5. I was on vacation with my family and our neighbour (she was like another older sister to me), and we went to British Columbia, and were camping by Lake Okanangan. Us kids- my neighbour, older sister and older brother- were playing in the lake, when they started teasing me by saying that Ogopogo the lake monster was going to eat me. That Ogopogo liked to eat little girls the best. I freaked and got out of the lake... that also was the start of my fear of deep water, and dark water... damn them for traumatizing me. *grrr*

I remember when I was 7, I sat under my kitchen sink drinking maple syrup. xD
I have really bad memory when it comes to my childhood. I cant remember anything major or small, just snip-its. :c

For some reason, I have an extremely good memory of things that happened when I was really young.

I think my earliest memory, though, is from when I was probably about two years old... maybe even younger, because I'm pretty sure I still had a crib instead of a normal bed at this point. There was this recurring dream that I had constantly that I was convinced was real that an orange caterpillar and a blue fish would run across my bed every night. One time the dream continued that my mother came in and took them and threw them away because they scared me, but the next day, when she denied remembering it I thought she was lying to me because I didn't know it was a dream. xD

Most of my other memories aren't really specific instances of anything, but just things that I did a lot as a child, like going over to the school playground across the street with my parents and playing with my stuffed animals and spending most of my time drawing and things like that.

Well, I remember my crib being wooden, and it had blue and yellow blankets. *o*

I used to have a super-good memory and I could remember anything, but now my memory is worse than my grandpa's. >:U

I think the youngest I can remember is five. I remember the apartment we were living in, I even remember the manager's name. And I remember my mom's boyfriend who was there almost all the time. I wish I didn't remember him.

It's crazy that anyone can have a memory from being 1 or younger. How does that happen for some people and not others?

Wow! Thank you everyone ^_^ I remember having a white crib. Then one night I was able to pull myself out, but unable to get back in. So I was caught by my mom the next morning. I remember upstairs there being a window seat that I loved. I enjoy revisiting places from my memories because I moved so much that reconfirming memories is a joy.

I don't know why I have memories from so young. Wish there was an answer for that.

I can remember something from when I was around two, maybe a little younger. I was on a sidewalk with my grandmother (Mamaw), and I dropped my toy and it fell off the sidewalk into the gutter area, like beside the curb. And I was reaching froward to pick it up and across the street was a park. :) That's about all I can remember about that particular moment. But every now and again I get random memories from early childhood. I like them. :)

Mine was when I was around 4 or 5 and I got my foot caught in an apple tree. I only remember it made me afraid of heights since i was dangling from my foot.

Hmmm... I think the earliest memory I have is when I was either 2 or 3. My mom and her boyfriend were stretched out on their mattress on the floor and I was running around with a large Batman plushie, asking if there was any danger. They would just point somewhere and be like, "There are some bad people over there!" Then I'd run over in that direction and start kicking and punching the air with my Batman. XD

I actually remember a lot of really random memories from my early childhood. I also remember the most random details about those moments.

The earliest memory I can recall happened shortly after I turned two years old. I was sitting in a sandbox playing with our toy poodle Meko. It was slightly overcast. There was a white plastic lawn chair not too far to the right of me.

Strangely enough the first memory I can think of at this stage was probably from when I was about to turn two years old. My mum had taken my brother and I overseas on a holiday to see family and there was a playground with animal shaped play equipment and a fairly wide red slide. I asked my mum about that playground when I went there just a few years ago, unfortunately it had already been demolished or replaced or something, but there's a photo of my brother on the slide.

Those are really neat memories! Another memory I have when I was little was probably just after that blank space where I am missing a year. We moved back to my small town, but were in town instead of in the country side. I remember the house there. Jumping in rain puddles. Walking to the nearby playground that had a merry-go-round. Playing in the sandbox out back even though I was supposed to be taking a nap. The smell of fresh cut grass. Walking across the street to vacation Bible school at a different church than my own... but the people were really nice and helped me make crafts.

Another early memory as far back as I can .. Well, remember  was on my 4th birthday and one of my uncle's was trying to tell me about Einstien's equation of E=MC2  I told him back then that I didn't even know what any of that was, but kept saying it because I thought it made me sound smart

I consider myself to be an oddity, I remember when I was three. I had taken back my little tiger who my grandpa gave to me when I was younger after he got out of the hospital, He called me an indian giver and well, being three I laughed at him and ran off. Anything after that is pretty scattered, I have bits and bobs from when I was a kid playing over and then a blank slate from ten to thirteen, I can recall almost everything from fourteen and on, almost everything.

Okay so I broke down and went ahead and asked my mom about that time frame that is blank in my life's memories. She told more more about that time in my life. Evidently there is more missing in those memories than just the house we lived in and her boyfriend... evidently I spent a lot of time at her boyfriend's parents' house as well as in daycare... and I remember none of it. So I am pretty sure that those missing memories are gone not because of how wonderful life was (which mom over emphasized really bad) but cuz something happened.

My first memory was when I was 3 years old, I moved from my first house to my second house and it was very stressful for me and I spilled something on the floor in the new house and I was so afraid that my parents were going to be mad that I started crying. They just helped me clean it up and showed me the box of my toys that they brought in the car so I would have some things to play with the first day that we were in the new house.
I really don't have anymore memories of being three, although I have a LOT of memories of being four, which was the year that my little brother was born.

I believe I was around one year in age at the time. All I remember is my mother, she was at this base or airport. I'm not sure, I remember a man handing her a piece of paper. She made me put my fingers on a black ink pad and place them on the paper. That's all I remember, its a small memory but it is the easiest I have.
