Im trying to learn sax, I've already got a sound out of it, but how do I change the pitch of the note, like a high octave A and lower octave A?

I also have really tiny hands :< I have an alto sax so its not as big of a feat as tenor or bari...or contrabass D:

Btw, this is my third instrument. I play flute and guitar, but my forte is flute(3 years) even though I've been on guitar for about 5 years lol

Heeey~ We play all of the same instruments.

I'm typically a flutist as well, but I picked up sax for the sake of playing jazz (though, I would have loved to do a jazz flute solo).
Onto the matter at hand, changing octaves is much easier on the saxophone than the flute. Air temperature and speed stay exactly the same. All you need to do is press the little octave key. It's located right above the little peg you rest your left thumb on. Just slide your thumb up and viola! You're an octave higher.

I was just about to answer, but I read SirGolly's post and saw that they have explained it in a much better way than I would have written!

I started playing alto sax in... 2003/4? Maybe. I haven't played for a while (though I don't think I will ever forget how to play completely, it always stays with you) however grade wise I got to Grade 4 in exams.

When you press the little octave key above the thumb rest circle the lever on the neck (right infront of your eyes when you play) will release, changing the airflow etc.

OMG! I started learning sax just for the sake of being in jazz and playing jazz :D I wished my teacher let flutists into jazz lol a great amount of flutists started sax just for jazz lol

Anyways, thank you very much, I'm currently the most advanced in my learning group :) I'm beginning to learn the higher third octave C, D, E ^^ its only been two weeks and I'm a lean, mean, jazz playing machine xD
