I've seen several dream threads, but none really discuss the meanings that dreams can hold. Have you ever wondered why you dream the things that you do? Or wonder where they come from?
Of course, dreams are apart of your mind, your imagination, your memories all put into one. But they also hold your fears, your feelings, and seem to display them in different forms.
I've studied dream meanings, kept dream diaries, deciphered them, and have done different projects about them. So I find dreams to be an extraordinary part of life. Dreams can possess deep down feelings that you yourself aren't even yet aware of and they present them in metaphoric forms. Some people may not even believe dreams have meanings, but when something so unique takes place inside your mind while you sleep it is hard to not believe it. Often times dreams are a way that your mind discusses issues of your life with you. Sounds strange, but it can be explained.
This thread is for you to discuss any dreams that you remember having and possibly understanding them. I know it may sounds odd, but opening your mind up to them can seriously open yourself up to a world that you didn't even know. Meaning you may find out things about yourself that you never even knew.
Here is an example of something I mean:
In my last relationship, I was with a guy for four and a half years, but I knew when to cut it off. Before I even decided it needed to end I was having different kinds of dreams over and over. Zombies, snakes, tornadoes, death. Now these things can be associated with fears, yes, but it does depend on the form they take. I was often dreaming I was one of the dead walking around, I dreamed that I was running from snakes, being bitten by them and I do not fear snakes at all. I love them actually. I also kept dreaming about tornadoes touching down and having to escape them. These dreams occurred very often. After I left that relationship, those dreams stopped. I thought it was odd and decided to read about dreams and why you have them. I came across the possible meanings and it really seemed to connect.
Dreaming about being dead and walking around can indicate that you feel like you are not even alive like your life has no meaning. Different colored snakes can mean different things, but running from something venomous can mean that you are trying to outrun a part of your life that seems to consume you, that seems to hurt you. Tornadoes can point out that you are scared of losing control and that you are trying to escape different emotions that have been going out of control. I found it odd that I was dreaming about these things as I was realizing that that relationship needed to come to an end. Putting two and two together, made me believe that dreams can hold hidden meanings and feelings that are deep within you.
Now, there are many, many different types of dreams and a vast amount of things that can be interpreted, so I will not list them all, but a select few. If you are curious as to what a dream may mean you can discuss it in here and I can help you, if you'd like.
So, tell me what are your opinions on dreams? Do you feel that your dreams have messages or do you not?
Discuss any dream you want here. I have plenty to discuss if anyone ever wants to hear any.
Different Dream Meanings:
Since dreaming of snakes, spiders, and zombies are often common dreams I will list the meanings they can possess.
Snakes:
Dreaming of snakes can indicated different things, so in the end the way the dream goes and what you do in it will tell you which one it really is.
Snakes can mean fear or worries that plague your mind, they can indicate trouble in your sex life, and they can tell you that there is something sinister on your mind as well. But, dreaming of snakes can also represent healing, growing, knowledge, wisdom, and self transformation for the better.
From dreammoods.com:
Quote:

Your dream may be alerting you to something in your waking life that you are not aware of or that has not yet surfaced. Alternatively, the snake may be seen as phallic and thus symbolize temptation, dangerous and forbidden sexuality. In particular, to see a snake on your bed suggests that you are feeling sexually overpowered or sexually threatened. You may be inexperienced, nervous or just unable to keep up. If you are afraid of the snake, then it signifies your fears of sex, intimacy or commitment. The snake may also refer to a person around you who is callous, ruthless, and can't be trusted. As a positive symbol, snakes represent healing, transformation, knowledge and wisdom. It is indicative of self-renewal and positive change. meanings by DreamMoods.com

I had a post... spent 46 minutes typing it... I'm going to see if I can re-remember my dream...
I always have colourful and vivid dreams. If you want could you see what my dream last night means.
My boyfriend and I were wandering an abandoned apartment building. I'm not sure why it was empty. Everything was shiny and new looking, very pretty and clean. We were going through the building and checking out the rooms, when this woman in a black dress... kinda Victorian type dress, appears in front of us, looking away from us. I think she was a ghost or something, she just glided over the floor and didn't pay us any attention. She just walked a few steps ahead of us, and would stop and point at a door randomly. We looked into the first room, and it was kind of like there was a movie projector, the movie was like old-home movies from like the 80's...sepia toned, but colour, lined and kinda spotty at times.... It was a split screen, both my boyfriend and I playing in sandboxes as little kids, but in 2 different places.
The next 3 rooms were the same thing, I cant remember the content... just stuff every kid does as they grow up...
The woman led us up to another level- this one was darker and worn out, wallpaper peeling- and walked down, and pointed to a few more doors. These ones were from when we met in high school. 4 doors for 4 years. The first three were just interactions during classes, the last was our first date senior year.
We went up another flight of stairs. This floor was bright, and comfortable, not as new as the first floor, well used and well loved. And again the woman repeated her pattern. 4 more doors. These ones being everyday happy events for the three years together after high school. Nothing out of the ordinary, just scenes of watching movies, cooking together, going swimming, my bf teaching me to fish.
At the end of the hallway, the woman pointed to another staircase heading up. She turned and faced us for the first time. Her face was covered with a black veil and we couldn't see her face. I could swear she was smiling.
Then I woke up.
I usually have dreams with some kind of 'spirit' being...they often guide me, or act like spectators to what I'm doing.
I also have a lot of dreams about my boyfriend and myself and our friends playing in parks during the winter.
My dreams repeat a lot...

Wolfie is wondering something. She had two (at least) dreams recently about reading. One where the book, one she had recently finished, filled her entire field of vision. She read it,and as she read the letters flowed and changed. It made sense in the dream. The other dream only featured a bit of reading, but it was noticeable.Wolfie wonders if the books might mean something,or the changing letters?
