A lot of you will have seen my CD thread here, but just in case you haven't, it's time to make things official!

This option down at the bottom of the page?


It's no longer a waste of space, we now have some alternative background styles for you to choose from \o/

So far the choices are all past event backgrounds, but there will also be new options when Yan has made some! There's always the chance that you might be able to submit them yourself if Yan is cool with that. He'll have to do all the donkey work though so that is up to him.

Which of the options that are available so far do you like the best? I'm using the Easter one 'cause it's just so cute and happy! =3

I saw that last night and popped on the Stars one myself.
I actually didn't get a chance to peek at the other ones.. :o
Maybe I should go do that right quick, hehe.

It's nice to have options though for sure, people get tired of
looking at the same thing all the time so thanks for the addition!

I keep switching them out, but find myself using the one from Phoenix Jubilee because it was such a fun event!

I'm using Stars, right now. And I think my cell phone is using Halloween 09. This is awesome, Jelly~!

I love this! It's so much fun. XD Is it suppose to reset every time you come on or stay saved? I had the Halloween one on yesterday and it went back to blue. Hmm would it be because I logged out?

Yeah, it's because you logged out so it reset to default. Yan's been looking into why it does that. I suspect there's no option for it to remember what one it was on before.

I love many of them, but still prefer the stars one because it's most neutral right now. :3

I'm also using the Stars one. It's pretty and simple and doesn't make the avatar and words at the top hard to see.

I like the dev style.
It's superrrr refreshing to see a somewhat new layout.

Will the default be left as is? I think it would be good for people who don't like change or don't want to have fun with avi pranks.

Re-appeared, more like That's always been there since we've been on vBulletin, I got Yan to remove it during last winter, maybe, as there hadn't been any new wallpapers created in forever and people were commenting on that fact.

So is it for users to make whatever picture they like a background? It doesn't change anything for me, I'm on an iPad right now.

NVM! I found it. haha.

My inner Berksey is telling me to tell you that if the styles aren't being kept upon logout, you could look into setting a style cookie. Apparently it's not that hard; just a snippet of Javascript to set it and read it, apparently. In fact, there may already be one in play somewhere.

She also says (jeez, I feel like a channeler or something now) it could be set via the database, either by adding a table cell to it and populating it with the data concerning the user's style choice and looking it up at login, or by seeing if there's already a table bit for it, and using that, or adapting an unused one, whatever that means.

Sorry to burglarize the conversation, but when voices in my head tell me to tell people things, I generally do. I hope it's at least something potentially useful.
