Fable AoifeX

More images can be found here.
Age: unknown, she couldn't be bothered keeping track.
Sex: female
Occupation: death/grim reaper
This character is a work in progress, she acts as Death, meaning she takes souls that have passed away and helps them find their way to eiither hell or heavan. She is not biased and tends to not talk. Fable likes to hang out in the world and will dress to fit in, casting a spell to hide her wings and horns. She usually goes for corsets and more victorian style clothes but she somehow always finds outfits that let her fit in. She is very cut off from the humans. She enjoys coffee very much and she smokes. Need more details just ask.

(Sorry it took so long been packing and moving which I am still doing @.@)

It was the time of the year that many people gathered at the hidden victorian house in the woods. It was time for the lunar festival, but this one was extra special considering this time it was for the blood moon which far rarer then a regular lunar eclipse. The blond haired male, stood in the doorway as he watched people arrive in horse drawn carriages. It was the only way to get to his home, as most electronic devices tended to stop working in e with in his woods. He chuckles to him self as his green eyes looked over everything as it was being prepared. There was nothing like a true gypsy festival to put everyone in the right mood. He directed people on where to set a few of the stalls up, making sure that the clearing where the viewing will take place was still far enough away that it could be seen with out the lights over powering it. Though he did not know was that he was going to end up cheating death, and one thig that everyone knows is that death does not like being cheated. He smiles even more as he made sure his little tent was front and center, a symbol of a crescent moon with an eye behind it.

Fable walked through the stalls in her old fashioned corset outfit, she fit in perfectly. Today was suppose to be her day off but they were short on grim reapers. Sighing she checked all the weapons on her body. There was small needled in the tips of her fan that wiith a push of a button they'd fly out, a dagger in both her boots and a vile of poison in her necklace. Although she rarely had to use them, some people tried to cheat death and she would have to forcefully kill them. Sighing she noticed a stall in the middle of all the others that had a crescent moon with an eye on it. Curious she walked into the tent she saw a blond man standing there. "Ahem." She cleared her throat, "What exactly is this tent for?" She asked curiously.

Green eyes scanned to the front of the dark blue tent when he heard the flap open, but it was more then just that. It was as if a chill had rolled into the cloth structure, there seemed to be a misting fog to roll in with the female. Though it was all in his mind, any number of things could made him feel that way or imagine the rolling fog that had entered with her. He had been adjusting pillows that sat around a low round table that had the phases of the moon painted around the edge of it. Having yet to put out any utensils for fortune telling as he had been busy with other things.
A scarred, pale hand pushed back the blond hair that had fallen into his face as he stood up to his full six foot height, smiling at her. "What would a festival be without the fortune teller? I am Ricfrith though everyone calls me Ric or Lye." he said to her in his charming way as he flashed her a smile again, though normally he either had a serious or blank look on his face but for the next three days he would not be able to do anything but smile, for he enjoyed these festivals, and a special one like this does not happen very often. He was even excited that he maybe able to met a few other witches like himself.

Fable looked at him curiiously, tilting her head slightly. "Fortune teller... right." she looked above his head and noticed the life clock above it. Walking up to him she looked him over, noticing he wasn't a normal human. His blond hair looked soft and his green eyes reminded her of spring. "May I get my fortune told. Sir/" She asked looking around the dark tent. It was rather alluring the way the tent was set up, very relaxing aura went through he. "I may tell you a little secret in return Mr. Ricfrith." She focused her attention towards him and smiled her sickly sweet smile.

Ricfrith laughed at her reply, he never told her that he was the furtune teller. He had to admit that he had to give her some props for deducing that so quickly. "You don't believe in fortune tellers or anything along that line do you? he asked her as he pulled a box out from under the table, placing a crystal ball on it and a deck of tarot cards next to it. "You may not like what I may find." he said to her as he took a seat across from the entrance as he motioned for her to take a seat. The smile that was on her face out a knot in his stomach, made him sick to see it but he smiles back at her anyways. "First why don't you tell me your name?" he asked as her as he shuffled the cards, a spark of magic could be seen as the cards were mixed.

Fable sat down in font of him and let out a sigh, she brushed a hand through her peach colored hair. Watching the deck be shuffled she notice that small spark of magic going into it. 'Ah so he's a wizard. I see.' She thought as she moved to rub the back of her neck. She heard his question and smiled. "They call me Fable, Aoife Fable." This time she smiled with sincerity. She wasn't use to telling her name, but it was an exception. He was going to die soon after all. His life numbers slowly ticking away.

Ricfrith spread the cards out in front of them, touching each and everyone of them, causing sparks to fly because of his magic. Saying her name with each card he touched. He then scooped them all up once more, shuffling the cards once more before spreading them out in front of her once more. "Pick three cards." he motioned to them as he spoke softly to her. Once the cards were pulled, he put the rest away. He spread the three cards out in front of them, tapping each one of them before his green eyes locked on her face. "Each one symbols your past, present, and future." he said to her, tapping each one twice until the picture that was hidden, showed up on top. A frown crossed his pale features as he looked at each one, the first two were the same, but the last one was just a little bit different. Worry was clear on his face. "Death.....Death......Death and Love......" he mumbled, he looked at her again before taking the crystal ball to gaze in it, concentrating on it as if his life depended on it, which it may very well be.

Fable sat patiently knowing what the cards held for her, so she didn't seem shocked or surprised to hear that each card meant death... Well besides the death and love card. Sitting up a bit straighter she watched the young man stare into his magic ball, sphere, oh she couldn't remember what it was called. Letting out a sigh she smiled at him, "What are you looking for so intently in that magical sphere thing?' She really did need to start remembering simple things like that. Letting out a sigh again she looked at the man in front of her, noticing his ratheer handsome face.

Ricfrith had a rather serious look on his face, not reacting much to what she was saying or doing at the moment as he sat there and stared into it. Though when she wasn't surprised at the death cards it made him worry. As it was not something to take lightly. After all a normal pack of tarot cards only has one death card but fuse them with a bit of magic and then you can get what most others would not get. When she spoke to him, his head jerked up as green eyes landed on her soft features. He quickly tossed a cloth over the crystal ball so as to not gaze into it again. "I was hoping that I had read the cards wrong......but sadly i have not." he said to her in a solemn voice as a sad look graced his masculine features. "You should be more careful, Fable. Death has followed you since you were very young. It plays a very prominent role in your life and this...." he said to her as he taped the card that was a death version of an adult cupid. "This means that in your future.....you will fall in love......but death will take your love from you." he said before he stood up, picking the cards up once more before he shuffled them and left them in a stack once more. "It pains me to have given you such bad news." he may not have known her very well, but he still cared about her, and at the moment he wanted to do no more then protect her from what ever evil seemed to have been following her. He couldn't hold back the urge anymore, moving to her side of the table, he tugged her into an embrace, stroking her hair.

Fable was surprised to say the least. As he embraced her she froze for a minute then smiled softly and hugged him back. Debating on telling him he only had a few months tops to live and that he should really die tonight she sighed and wrapped her arms a little tighter around him before she left their embrace. Looking into his eyes she sighed again, this time sadly, "Ricfrith, I have some bad news for you as well. You should probably sit down for this." After waiting a few seconds she continued on talking, "you see, I am what many people call a grim reaper. I can see how long of life you have by the numbers above your head... Your's are not normal I can't keep a good read on it, it keeps flashing different numbers.. You have anywhere from dying tonight to a few months from now... This means I have to stay close to capture your soul after you have passed." Frowning she started tearing up, "Im sorry, this has only happened two times throughout my life time." She bit her lip and looked at the ground thinking he must hate her now.

A smiled graced his lips as he felt her hug him back. He kissed the top of her pink/brown-ish head as comforted her, though just maybe she was the one comforting him. It was hard to tell, though if someone walked in on them, they would have thought it was two loves embracing. He felt her squeeze him tight before he watch her pull out of his arms. He felt odd after their embrace, it seemed as if the nice feeling he had gotten was gone. He had liked holding her close, as she was shorter then him so she fit nicely in his arms, he had felt as if she was delicate and that he was the only person in the world that could protect her. He shook his head as he tried to get those lingering thoughts out of his head. Green eyes locked with grey ones. He could tell how serious she was, which only made him more serious himself. The sad look on her face, only tugged at his heart strings a bit more, taking a seat as she suggested. "Hmmm....." he said while listening to the soft words coming from her mouth, it was clear that he was surprised to find out that she was a reaper after all she did not appear like one. "I see..." he spoke in a disconnected voice as he looked towards the table, tracing the moons that were on the edge. He quickly looked up as he heard her tear filled voice, he reached a large hand out to grab hers and tugs her close to hug her once more. "What do you mean this has only happened twice in your past?" he asked her in a gentle voice, wanting to know more but not wanting to push her into telling him everything about it. "If it helps......i am not surprise that i am going to die.....everything dies eventually." he tried to reassure her.

While embracing him she sighed softly, "The first one was my first and only boyfriend... his numbers always flashed something different which is weird because everyone has a set date." She paused and looked into his eyes and smiled almost tiredly, "He died unexpectingly. The second person I fell in love with him, and the same thing happened to him as well." She leaned into his embrace,, "The sad part about it all is that is they both had options to become a grim reaper as well. The job isn't that bad, they have enough reapers to switch places and give each other breaks.... but both men decided that heaven would be enough for them. Which I honestly don't blame them... it was just hard, you know?" Fable never told anyone about the incidents but for some reason Ricfrith seemed to be able to trust. She looked everywhere but hhis face, hoping that her blush wasn't showing to bad. "Anyone that has numbers that change a lot has a chance to be a reaper. Not many choose such a fate though."

Ric kissed the top of her head once more, letting her soft voice wash over him as she told him a bit about her background. He was sadden to find out about her first love, after all the first love was always the hardest and what happens with them tends to stick with you for a long time. He should know, after all he dealt with a tragedy with his first love himself. He noticed the slight flushed look to her cheeks, which only made her more attractive in his opinion. "I am sorry that you have had such a tough time with those that you love...." he said to her gently as he stroked her hair, smiling after a few minutes. "I am also sorry to disappoint you, but death is no where in my plans for the future. I am also not cut out to be a reaper either." he said to her as he laughed, trying to lighten the mood but he was dead serious, there was no way he was going to die, and taking care of people's souls is not something he was willing to do. After all he gets paid to curse people, or to help them, though he could sense spirits occasionally but it was nothing like his talent as a seer. Though the sad thing was that he could never see anything that involved himself, if he was in a vision the parts that dealt with him were always blurry.

Fable sat there still, not sure what to do, she was never hugged or touched in general. Feeling him plant an Innocent kiss on her head made her blush even more. "I'm quiet use to having a heartache." She mumbled shyly and looked up at him as his smooth voice washed over her, making her heart beat a little faster. "What do you mean you mean death is no where in your future? You realize that when you cheat death is alters reality. Not only that but since I was the reaper sent to you I have to stay in a 25 mile radius of you." Shaking her head she sighed, "I'll have to "reap"". she said making quotations with her hands then hugged him again,"those around you. And that's not always good, if reapers "reap" in a certain town for to long we might be caught." Sighing once more. Then an idea struck her, "Wait, you travel though, don't you?" She asked excitedly, out of all the years she has reaped only once was she almost found out, which would ruin her standing in her job but also give away that there are indeed reapers. She awaited his answer, hoping and praying that she would find a way to not be caught.

(oh you look very lovely)

He laughed some more. "I mean I have no plans to die." Ric said as he grinned, letting her go before running a hand through his blond hair, looking around the tent before looking towards the flap of the tent. "I like to think that instead of changing reality we will just be taking an alternate time line." he laughed, playing with the gem pendent around his neck as he tried not to shake his head at the words that she was speaking. "I am a witch or wizard as it maybe. This is my home out in the middle of no where. The only ones around me are animals. Well except for right now seeing as the Blood Moon Festival is right now but still." he said to her as he opened the tent to motion to everything out side of it. People having arrived and started to celebrate. "Travel...." he said the word with thoughtfulness, holding his elbow as he held his chin, thinking to him self for a few moments. "Occasionally i will have to travel after all my life doesn't involve me being locked away from people." he said to her as he smiled, motioning for her to follow him as he goes to make his rounds, making sure everything was set up properly.

Fable followed him warily but none the less did. Sighing she walked next to him, "You know you really shouldn't cheat death," winking she continued, "When the numbers go to zero you have to pass on, it's the rules." As she looked around at the booths she started to smile widely and absentmindedly clung to his arm, it was the first time she saw anything like this, well the first time in several hundred years. Looking up at Ricfrith she gave him the best smile she could, "This is all so wonderful, and bright, and colorful, it's just beautiful!" Fable continued to stare out at everything, following him around happily, still not noticing that she clung to him. Every booth they passed she wanted to stop and take a gander at all that was laid out, and was being laid out. It was just fascinating to her.

Ricfrith smiled as he talked with some of the vendors, trying some of their products and helping them out where they needed. He looked down at the female that was clinging to him, he raised an eyebrow at her but did not say anything about it to her. "I was never one much for following rules." he said to her as chuckled, smiling back at her. He noticed her reaction to everything and that she seemed like she was really trying to enjoy her self even though she was there to reap his soul. "That is the point of a festival my new founded friend." he said to her as he laughed, he took her over to one of the food stalls, ordering a funnel cake for her to try as he pointed to another spot, telling a man that he should set his stall up there. "I take it that you haven't been to a festival in a very long time." he said to her as he chuckled. He enjoyed watching people have fun and move about, but he enjoyed the fact that Fable seem to be having the best time of her life at the moment.

Fable giggled as she listened to him talk, "Rules are set for a reason though, even if we disagree or find them useless... It creates order." She listened intently still clinging to him. "New found friend? Friend... I haven't heard that word in a long time.' She stared at him for a moment before blushing and looking away. As they continued he let her taste a funnel cake, it was one of the most amazing things she had ate in a while here on earth. It was great and she thanked him. Fable heard him ask her the question she was dreading, she lost count of how old she was, it wasn't a very important factor in her line of work but she was slightly embarrassed to answer. Looking at her feet and clicking her feet together she finally answered "It was a pretty awesome time but it was at least four-hundred, maybe five-hundred years ago... I get assigned people who aren't the normal procedures, mainly because I have more patience than most and I have been doing this for over well, for a long time." She mumbled the last part, hating that she had been around for a long, long period of time.

"Maybe so but they are also meant to be broken." Ricfrith said to her as he, he patted the top of her head as they continue to walk slowly through the fair. "Well aren't we friends?" he said as he raised his eyebrow at her, he knew that she had been around for a while but her having no friends at all is just ridiculous in his opinion. Personally he knew that he should stay as far away from her as he could considering the fact that she going to reap his soul from his body. What better why to cheat death then to be right next to death and to prevent your self from not dying. "Your welcome.....you can try other things too. Just enjoy yourself. Take the day off from work." he said to her in a nonchalant voice as he tried to put her at ease, trying to get her to kick back and relax and well not think about taking his soul from him. "Hmmm you really should take a break then if it has been that long. Enjoy the festival while you can, it will be a while before it happens again." he said to her as he lead her over to a game booth where all you had to do was toss rings onto a bottle.
