The closest we had was a dress code which was bad enough.

Ah yes, dress codes, a.k.a. "Oh my GOD your TANK TOP STRAP is too SMALL and your SHOULDERS arr OBSCENE COVER THOSE THEY'RE TOO DISTRACTING!1"
I always hated those. Can you tell?

...I like making my own clothes. I'm working on a few new shirts, having some fun with that. Not entirely sure how to describe these things, though, so photos will have to suffice when I'm done.

I hated wearing dress pants.
As a boy in Detroit I wore jeans, but when we moved to Lincoln Park just south of Detroit we had to wear dress clothes

I love wearing dress pats, actually. I find them pretty comfortable. Most of the pairs I have are nice and soft and smooth.

I didn't enjoy it so much when I was in elementary school though. Luckily my school wasn't always that restrictive - but they had some pretty nasty double standards going on sometimes and what they did allow is still not always the most pleasant thing to wear when it's 35° C in the shade and the classroom's air conditioning is broken.

...yes, this is a horror I have lived.
