Who here uses Pandora? If you don't know what it is, it's a free online radio website where you can create stations based on a favorite artist or song. Then the website will try to find similar music and play it for you. As the songs play, you can give it a thumbs up if you like it, a thumbs down if you hate it and want it to stop (but there's a set number of songs you can skip in one hour), or just leave it alone. You can also bookmark artists and songs you find through the site.
I've got ten pages of songs bookmarked now, and most of them I'd never heard before using the site. I'm really happy with the music it's helped me find.

Unfortunately, I live outside US, and thus am unable to use the service due to licensing constraints. The short period of time I was able to use Pandora before it got restricted left a good impression on me, and I dare say that this project is quite successful in its function.

Ohh, that's sad. I forgot all about the licensing restrictions.

Aww, I guess there's not many people who use Pandora then.

I do use Pandora.
It's just that I don't go there very often. I'm now using my Pandora account.

What kind of songs do you listen to?
I'm listening to "Turn Off the Light" by Nelly Furtado.

I love Pandora! I have the same username, if you want to look me up. I'm probably the person who has the longest bio on there xD And you can see which people are my friends in real life from how much their comment boxes are spammed with my random thoughts that build up.
Anyways, I started out with an Evanescence radio, and now I'm obsessed with Nightwish, Epica, and Within Temptation. I also made a Claude Bolling radio which is wonderful, it has everything from classical piano, to jazz (Jean-Pierre Rampal on jazz flute, yay!).
Pandora is wonderful, it shows you music you wouldn't have picked up randomly in the stores that you like!

xD Don't worry. I get obsessed over those type of things. I just looked at it and I got excited since it was a music site. I am a flutist, so I decided to write a lot about flute, and then about anything else in the performing arts that I am involved in.

Oh, that sounds pretty useful. :) I started using it because I was bummed out about giving up my radio clock for a plain old alarm clock.

I don't really like pandora, [or rhapsody, which is a similar thing], because it only has 'mainstream' music. It doesn't carry a lot of titles [if any] in the foreign language department - which is the sort of music I prefer. :P

I've stumbled on some good Japanese and French music in my stations, but yeah, they're not as common as the English songs.
I've never heard of Rhapsody, I'll have to check that out.

I used to listen to Pandora, but I'm in the UK, so I can't anymore. I really liked it, but it did used to freeze anything else I was doing each time a new song loaded, which was a trifle irritating :/

I just found out about this
site a few days ago. I really
like the fact that they have
similar sounding artists in the
stations. It's a good way to discover
new music artists. I just don't like
that you can only skip the station a few
times.

Depending on how fast your computer and connection is, you can just reload the site to get around the song skip restriction.

Yeah, it's really helped me.
I liked the "I'm tired of this" option they added a little while earlier. 'cause sometimes one song gets played on a station so much I don't want to hear it again, but I do like it... So that really helps.

I used to listen to them...
They introduced me to a couple of new artist, which was pretty cool. ^^
I stopped after a while because you can't listen to the same song over again, and sometimes I want to listen to that song again, but I can't find it anywhere else. xP
Another thing was that a lot of the songs where hard to find otherways, and it's not like I can just download it from there, and I don't know the lyrics either. I'd have it stuck in my head, wondering what they're singing...
xD;;;;

Oh, that's true, it'd kind of stink...
Most of the songs I listen to, the lyrics are pretty easy to distinguish. Although I noticed recently that I'd been singing "Drama doesn't follow me, it writes on my back" when more likely, it's "Drama doesn't follow me, it rides on my back" >.>;;;; My common sense is not always strong.

I really like Pandora, though I go through phases of using it a lot or ignoring for quite some time. But it's been great at introducing me to a lot of new artists that I hadn't know anything about before.

My one friend is always using Pandora, so I thought I'd give it a shot. I'm liking ti so far... but I like so many bands that it will probably take me some time to get many of them in the system... I like the whole concept though.
