Okay, I looked for a topic similar to this and couldn't see anything much.
WELL. you know how there were those certain bands that were just so good you spent like 3 hours listening to their songs only to find out, two years later, that they're completely out of fame and stopped making new music. It's so upsetting!
The Barenaked Ladies. They had a shitload of good songs. Million Dollars, One Week, Pinch Me, It's All Been Done. They had hilarious songs and were good singers. :] If they made new music, I bet it'd be just as good as it used to be from 1994 (I think?) to like 2001 or 2002 or something. They still perform live but I don't think they make new music.
Any other good bands that this has happened to?

To bad the Beatles aren't around to much anymore. I liked their music~
Now there's just a bunch of emo bands and stuff. I wish more bands like the Beatles would be around now =P

Sapphire: YEAH. I loved the Beatles. They had some really stupid ones, like the Ballad of Yoko Ono and Sgt. Pepper's Lonely Hearts Club or Band or whatever. I don't like those. I don't like Strawberry Field Forever either. but I like most of their songs. xD Another one was Smash Mouth. They had EPIC songs.

The BareNaked Ladies still make new stuff, just not as often. They still tour and everything it just isn't on the radio. I wish more music like that was popular as well though, like Sister Hazel.

Mint Car: Yeah. I just now found that out, thanks to YouTube. Apparently they're considered 'ska' now, even though they're alternative rock. I like their 1998-2001 music. <3~ They don't even play THAT on the radio anymore. >_>

Most of the music from like, the sixties and seventies and such. It was so much more powerful than anything is now P: Music used to be about... like, revolution, peace, you know? Now, it's all sex and blah.
I know that's a TERRIBLE generalization. xD There was obviously lots of crap back then, and there is some awesomely sweet stuff now, and I actually love sexually-charged songs (especially sexual techno, it's awesome), but... I don't know. A lot of stuff from back then seems so much... bigger.
More recently... hmm. I don't know. A lot of bands are reviving lately! Bands that I thought were dead! o_o I can't think of any specific examples, but seriously.
OH NO WAIT YOU KNOW WHAT'S AWESOME? NEW B-52S ALBUM. <333

A good band never goes out of style. And The Barenaked Ladies still tour and preform, and preform new songs often. Just because they're realeasing stuff at larger intervals doesn't mean they've disappeared.
And on the note of TheSatah stating that all music now has lost meaning, you're obviously not looking at all. Just because it's not in the mainstream doesn't mean there aren't shit loads of bands singing about those exact topics.

Like I said, it was a terrible generalization P: I know there are a lot of people singing about that stuff, and I listen to a lot of it. I also listen to a lot of that shit. P:

We need more music like Queen and Meatloaf these days.....alot of the newer music these days don't give me that special happy feeling like old bands do. :(

I think there is a lot of music still coming out like the stuff mentioned.
I don't ever get when people say "There's no good music these days... and everything is the same... and it's only rap and emo... and blah blah blah."
I just don't see or hear that at all.
Is it just me?!

Awwhh. :( I checked Wikipedia and there are some rumours that he is working on a new album. I hope they're true.

I agree! There is still tons of good music out there. Browse some music blogs for new bands you haven't heard of. I agree with what Tilly said as well.

I was going to wholeheartedly support this statement, but I think it needs a quick edit: A great band never goes out of style. There are dozens if not hundreds of very good bands that simply went out of style because the tastes of the listeners changed. Great bands and artists can reinvent themselves in such a way to be enjoyed years after the fact. Look at Aerosmith, KISS, The Rolling Stones and Bon Jovi. I might not personally like any of those bands, but that's because I'm an old codger, and there's simply no denying that they're still popular after a substantial period of time.
