So. I just got a PM from a mod, telling me I have an infraction on the Mene forums. >.>

I forgot to quote something because I didn't directly copy/paste so I kinda (being new, and stupid...) didn't realize that it should have been in quotes, despite not literally copy/pasting it. I don't really care about the lost gold. But... but.. GAH. Infraction = bad.

So, for the topic now.

How often do you guys do stupid things like that?
Do you wish there was a desk-like apparatus on laptops for those crucial "headdesk" moments?
Do you guys also tend to feel REALLY guilty after making an accident like that?
Do you get embarrassed?
On this site or others, what is your reaction to seeing a warning from a mod?
Is it less serious to you from one site, then it is on another?

>.>

Aw. That's no fun D:

I've never been warned on any site that I'm on.
Though I know I would be totally embarrassed & feel like a complete idiot if I ever do D;

Haha. exactly. I've NEVER had a warning on Gaia, Zantarni or Kinsaki.. this is my first warning. >.>

(other than fellow users reminding me not to doublepost)

I feel like such an IDIOT. :gonk:

At least it's only temporary though. I don't want permanent blotches on my name! :gonk:

I got the same :( Same thead as well... how much was your infraction?
I copied 4 words and got 100 points infraction :(
I didn't realise it applied to other websites and seriously, it was FOUR words!

I thought we only had to quote other member stuff :( I kinda wish it were a warning rather than punishment, I hadn't realised I did something wrong.

Well - since it expires it is a warning. XD;

Everyone makes mistakes - it's all part of learning!

Haha. Yeah, my post in the Victorian Flower Language thread wasn't in quotes.. >.> So I got 100 for that.

But it's only temporary. The 100 points are gone after 28 days. :3

Yeah, I guess it's a strong warning, because they don't want it to happen again. It'd be nice if it were without a punishment... but oh well. Now we know that KeiKei will quote even when not needed. XD

@CK -- but.. but.. I'm a goody-goody. We don't do mistakes. It just doesn't happen. XD
I know, but I still feel like a moron. I thought I'd read the rules! And I did.. just didn't understand thoroughly I guess.. >.> Thank GOD it goes away. >.> I hate having bad marks on anything of mine.

The one time I got suspended from school (for punching a girl who called me pregnant because of my meds) I was in tears. Well, mostly because of the bitch's words, but still... XD

XD I'm a "goody-goody" too, so I know how embarrassing it is. Particularly when you think you understand the rules and discover you hadn't fully done so! I look foolish several times a day in the Staff room by asking for clarification on things, but I learn to deal with my own mortification by knowing that people here are pretty forgiving and understanding. XD

That's another thing... I 'copied' four words and yours was many but we get the same warning/punishment :(
I just don't think it was necessary, perhaps if it was the second or third time I had done it after being told not too.
But like you, I read the rules and just didn't realise I'd done something wrong :(

aww, i'm sorry you guys got infracted. I'm surprised I haven't gotten infracted yet. I just let my fingers fly over the keyboard without really paying attention when I post.

as for four words getting a one hundred point infraction.. that seems a tad steep to me. The upside to this story.. a lesson was learned and it isn't permanent.

*hugs everyone to make them feel better*

I do try hard to not get any warnings from Mods.
XD And if I do, I freak out.
As for what you did, I would have felt a little embarrassed, and more scared than anything else.
I'm a worry-wart. XD

I know that it's embarrassing, and you feel like the staff hates you when you mess up. But on Mene that's just not true. We know that everyone messes up. We have messed up too. Human beings aren't perfect. The only time you really need to start worrying is if you chronically do the same thing over and over after being told not to. Or if you do something really bad like post porn or purposely cheat somehow. But ultimately everyone here wants you to enjoy the site. There is no reason to freak out or worry over making a little mistake.

I know sometimes the rules here seem kind of unfair, and like there are so many things to learn. Especially if you're new. But then when you have been on the site for a while and see how it works, you realize the rules aren't unfair at all. In fact they keep the site moving along without so many of the things that really annoy people on other sites. We don't have to deal with huge amounts of spam, or people posting giant text walls of stuff from the internet just for gold gain, etc. Having to interact in order to get gold also keeps people friendly and really helps to make friends along the way. It's so many of those rules that make Mene the friendly, safe place it is. :)

I was wondering if the Mods/Staff members get warning?

I've seen them break a few rules here and there. >__>;
But I suppose no one would report them though..

The same thing happened to me.
I forgot to quote the spoonfed questions >.<
it was a silly thing to do,
but I've learnt my lesson,
Does anyone have any idea how many infraction points we all get?

I GOT THE SAME ONE THIS MORNING! AND FIVE MINUTES I GOT ANOTHER. Although I hate feeling this way, I feel that I'm being picked on. I have 4 infractons already. Two from the same person. And now with the new trial mods needing to "prove" themselves, I'm prone to get banned. At the rate they're going, I would be banned in 3 days. And I'm really flustered about it. I feel like I shouldn't even post anymore.

Randall, all the infractions that you've incured are ones that will expire :yes:

If you try your best not to break the rules any more, you shouldn't have any further problems :)

I see more people talking about getting warned for small mistakes more than anyone else. I also see a lot of people with out warnings being really demeaning to those who are talking about having them. Makes me want to scream at the computer that they should be nicer, everyone makes small mistakes.

The Staff has their own warning system in place.

That's why it's important to ask questions if you're unclear on something. If you ask questions about anything you're unclear on, there's no need to get in trouble for doing something wrong!

And if you happened to misunderstand the rules, that's where the idea that it's really not all that big of a deal if it's a small, unmalicious mistake comes into play.

Live and learn and enjoy yourself. ^^;

Ah, it's good that there's a warning system for staff. (Makes sure that the staff are still good staff.. gaia should try that. XD)

But yeah. I'm glad it's just temporary, but it gets me all paranoid that i've read other stuff wrong. I read through EVERY rule-bearing thread I could find like... 3 times after getting that. XD

@Randall -- Awww. *hug* I'd be upset if you were banned. Your posts in the GD are all really good. :3

wow really? i don`t do things like that often though i guess i`m a pretty good rule follower when it comes to online communities.When i have done things like that though i feel so frustrated and start being hard on myself.My reaction from seeing someone get told to follow the rules from the mod is sort of like those omg gasp! moments and they i just basically think i`m not going to do it and then i leave the thread.If i got a warning on a site like gaia which i rarely ever use i would not be worried,now if i got a warning on roliana or menewsha then i would be worried...

If I accidentally break any rule in general, I feel bad. It doesn't even have to be a site rule. It could be a rule I missed in a thread. It still makes me feel like an idiot and I get all upset...Like someone's gonna come to my house and beat my for breaking a rule on the Internet xD

I've gotten, I think 2 warnings from Gaia. Both because of my sig. The first time it was because my sig was over the 500 x 500 limit. I was still newish to the site and I hadn't looked over the rules very well, so I felt superbad for that. The 2nd time, I was actually more mad than embarrassed. I got in trouble because my sig file itself was too big. The only way I could have gotten in trouble for that was if someone was deliberately checking people's sig size and reporting them if it was too big. And I wasn't event posting that much then! Like...1 post every couple of weeks. That felt more like an attack from someone ><

But thankfully on Mene, I haven't broken any rules yet. And I would like to keep it that way....otherwise I would cry ;-;

In many cases, it's probably easier than you might think to pick out the filesize of a graphic by sight. I had your sig pegged at about 20k, and I overestimated by a bit, but the point is if a file looks like it might be overlimit, someone would be inclined to check it.

I was a little embarrassed about it, but I'm glad I was warned about it. Now I know better!
