" Are you sure this is the right way?" Felicia Davies asked her younger sister Avery. Things so far on this road trip had gone great and Felicia didn't want anything to go wrong. They both had been planning this trip for months and were looking forward to going to Canada. They had their passports and spending money and were thinking on going to Mexico someday if this trip went as planned.Felicia had an odd feeling about something, and hoped she was wrong about being lost.

Never had he meet a person who was so full of denial like Emma was . A women his father wanted him to help but had left her at the first chance he had got. But August had hated that foster home and couldn't help but feel like he failed his father. He swore he would make things right and try his best to get Emma to believe. Yet it wasn't going so well and he was running out of time. August was slowly turning back into wood and he wasn't sure if he'd get Emma to believe in time Letting out one last sigh before grabbing his jacket, August walked out of Granny's Bed and Breakfast ,and headed to meet Henry at the diner to talk about Emma.

Avery sighed for what felt like the millionth time, "Yes Felicia, I'm sure!" Avery mumbled. After all, she knew how to read maps! She'd been going off on her own for quite awhile now, no way would she every get lost. "What can possibly..." before finishing her sentence her mouth dropped open. Welcome to Storybrooke. Avery pulled the car on the shoulder abruptly and grabbed the map from Felicia's hand. Her eyes followed her hand, there. Avery groaned...this wasn't possible...MAINE?!

"Looks like I might have made a mistake" she said with a loud sigh. She checked the clock, 8:50 pm, "I think we should pull over in this town till tomorrow...it's getting pretty late". Her brows were furrowed as she drove the car slowly into town, the place seemed pretty small. The first thing she spotted was a giant tower...with a clock. She pulled over in front of it to discuss her plans with Felicia.

Mr. Gold was grinning ear to ear, his antique shop business was booming this year round. And why shouldn't it? After all, he had things that people...needed. And if they didn't he made sure that they needed something, making deals was his life. One favour in exchange for another, now didn't that seem fair? Emma already owed him two favours now, he was absolutely thrilled with that thought! Soon, the time would come when she would need to repay him...and repay him she would.

Mr. Gold grabbed him cane and hobbled out of his shop, but not before securely locking it. He couldn't have people go about and steal his stuff now could he? Wobbling his way he made it over to Granny's bed and breakfast to collect his month dues. He grinned, all be it a bit creepily, to the citizens of Storybrooke. Oh how naive and unsuspecting they were, they had no idea who they truly were.

August saw a strange car in front of the clock tower and drove past. He hadnt seen it before had a feeling they weren't from Storybrooke. Strangers never came here, though he did, but technically he wasn't a stranger. He decided to turn his motor cycle around and see for himself who they were and see if he could be of some help. He parked his motorcycle behind the car and thought of a plan of action. If they were strangers he would tell them where Granny's inn was, since it was getting late.

"It is getting late." Felicia said and wondered how they had gotten here in the first place. She froze when she saw a motorcycle stop behind the car and hoped they weren't in trouble. Felicia had been a troublemaker in her teen years , and wanted to stay out if trouble now that she was older. " Who do you think is behind us?" She asked in a whisper deciding Avery should do the talking if the man behind them wanted to speak with them, even though she didn't think he was law enforcement.

She took in the man at the same time as Felicia...why had he parked behind them instead of beside like a normal person would. Her eyes narrowed as she nodded at Felicia's suggestion. Getting out of the car she turned towards the man, "Hi, is there something we can help you with?" she asked him, her eyes still narrowed. Her head tilted as she looked up, she was pretty tall for a girl standing at an even five foot eight but clearly the man was still taller.

"Well, well...now who do we have here?" he whispered with an excited barely audible cackle. Two new additions to the story perhaps? He thought with glee, a small growl left his throat as he saw August making his way towards the new pair. No way in hell would he let August screw things up if they were indeed new additions to the story. Mr. Gold hobbled towards the girl and August as fast as his legs could carry him, "Good evening August, and who do we have here?" he said turning his eyes towards Avery and offering her his hand.

" Just being neighborly. " August said as he saw Mr. Gold making his way toward the car. He had a feeling that he had something on his mind conceding the woman and saw that there was a second one inside the car. " Just greeting fellow travelers like myself to Storybrooke Mr. Gold. " August said truthfully. He would do anything to reverse the effects of him turning to wood, but had a feeling only the curse breaking was the only thing to stop it.

Felicia saw the two men outside the car and got out herself. She had a feeling the younger man could be trusted but wasn't so sure about the other one. " I'm sorry if we're causing any trouble. See me and my sister here are lost and we need a place to sleep for the night. " She said only standing at a pitiful 5 ft 4 inches. Felicia hated being so short compared to the other members in her family. She still would let Avery do the talking but felt she needed to be out here.

Avery glanced beside towards Felicia, usually her sister was the shier of the two. "Like my sister said, I think I must have taken a wrong turn some where....because we ended up in Main. We'll be out of here bright and early tomorrow morning!" she nodded with a small smile. Avery didn't like the look of the older man, he gave her the heebie jeebies. "Hi, I'm Avery and this is my sister Felicia" she said with as she shook the mans hand before letting go quickly, his hands were cold. "Hey, is there any place we could stay for the night?" Avery had seen a diner but wasn't sure if she saw a motel. Her stomach gave a low rumble at the thought of food, ok first stop is so the diner. She thought to herself desperately, it had been a few hours since lunch and she needed to refuel her stomach and her car.

Mr. Gold's eyes narrowed as he turned to August "greeting", of course that was all August was doing. Turning his head back abruptly he smiled again, "Nice to meet you Avery and Felicia" he said with a nod. So the were looking for a place to stay, huh? "We have the best bed and breakfast in all of Maine here at Storybrooke, maybe August would like to show you?" Mr. Gold uttered with a coy smile. He knew that August was having problems walking....or doing anything these days because of his...syndrome. Mr. Gold however, enjoyed the young mans pain. It was rather amusing to watch.

August knew that Gold was trying to make his like as difficult as possible. It was harder each day to move and knew soon he would be in bed and then back to wood. Though there still was a chance he could get Emma to believe in magic before then." I'll gladly show you ladies where the bed and breakfast is. The diner isn't to far from there either. How about I show you where to go?" He asked wanting to get these girls away from Gold.

" Sounds good to me." Felicia said with a small smile. She didn't like the creepy feeling she was getting, not sure if it was Mr. Gold or the town of Storybrooke itself. There seemed to be something lingering in the air that was weakening and wondered what was going on. Food did sound good to Felicia, knowing it had been a while since they had stopped for food. They had stopped at a rest area outside of Boston and had some ice cream from a vending machine, since the traffic had been terribly bad that time of day.

Avery was tired, she sighed and ran a hand through her chestnut coloured hair. It was a mess by now, it was splayed all over her shoulders and her bangs were beginning to bother her. In one swift motion Avery pulled her hair up into a loose knot on top of her head. "Thanks" she turned and said to both Mr. Gold and August. "Mind moving your bike?" she asked August with a grin. Avery hadn't noticed before but his bike was pretty sweet, like one of those cool, shiny gang bikes that gang members had. She looked back up to August with a speculating look, was he a gang member?

With a nod to Mr. Gold and a gentle nudge to Felicia she got back inside the car. Avery shivered a bit, she hadn't noticed how cold she had been before. The hair on her hands and neck were standing, but maybe it wasn't just the cold...there was something about this place...something she couldn't put her finger on. Looking in her rear view mirror she eyed Mr. Gold, she knew that he was one man that she definitely didn't want to get too close to. Strapping on her belt and turning the car on she waited patiently for Felicia.

"Good good lad, thank you" his accented voice spilled the words. His voice laced with malice which was clearly intended for August. He knew that August didn't have much time, a month topped it...and a month was if he was lucky. Gold knew Emma, and he knew that she wasn't into the whole "fairy-tale crap" as she described it. As according to Emma, it was just Henry's imagination doing his job. Turning back to the smaller female Gold bowed his head and gingerly kissed her hand.

"You are in good hands with August, I suspect he'll be showing you around our little town. Now, if you ever need anything...do not hesitate to come and ask me. We might just be able to strike up a deal" he told the girl with a coy grin. With a nod towards August he turned away, but not before briefly turning back and uttering, "I hope you enjoy your stay in Storybrooke and I hope it's....safe" he said with a chuckle before hobbling off towards his own dark little house that he had packed with the citizens many trinkets.

Felicia blushed a little when the older man had kissed her hand and remembered that August had called him Mr. Gold. She got in the car and waited for this August guy to show them the way." I have a feeling we're going to have a lot to talk about tonight." She said once she got her seat belt back on.

Felica wondered about the exchange between those two men and had a feeling Mr. Gold had a grudge against August for what ever reason. She figured it was a small town thing, since she and Avery were from a small town that was a little bigger than Storybrooke." What's the deal about this town and why does it give me the creeps?"Felica thought to herself and figured she read to many horror novels.

-------------

Don't mind at all." August said to Avery before she had got in the car. He had an odd feeling about both the girls and didn't like the look Gold had in his eyes. August didn't want either of these women to make a deal that they would be obligated to complete.

He backed up and pulled up beside the car and motioned the women to follow him. He hoped that they didn't get caught up in to this story, since he had a feeling that the curse would be broken soon. Though he didn't know that could happen unless Emma believed in magic. He took off toward Granny's and hoped Avery would follow.

The moment Felicia was in the car Avery turned to her. "Please tell me you get the creeps from this town too? And that...Mr. Gold...ack...he kissed your hand!" she said with a shudder, it was beyond creepy and just plain wrong. There was no way that Felicia wasn't feeling this too, I mean...how the hell did they get from Boston to MAINE?! Boston was nearly a twelve hour drive if they factored in stops and breaks. There was no way in hell that Avery had driven twelve hours without noticing that the way she was headed...was completely wrong!

Checking her mirror she followed August without mentioning any of this to Felicia, she really didn't need her sister to freak out. Avery would just figure all this out and then lay it out to Felicia in the best sounding way possible. In a span of just a few minutes, the girls were standing in front of the diner. The night life of this town was slow and quiet. "Guess this is it" she muttered as she unstrapped herself and got out. She smiled to August, "Thanks, I appreciate you going out of your way to guide me and my sister" Avery said with a laugh.

Mr. Gold opened the door to his house with caution, someone had already broken in once and he couldn't...no wouldn't...have that happen again. He needed to do a bit of...research about the girls, he needed to know who they where and what could possibly make them tick. He assumed August would probably be keeping an eye on them, he knew that August had felt that same bit of..spark that he, himself had. But most of all, Gold had to make sure that if they were somehow involved with the story that Regina didn't get them before he did.

" I get the creeps from this town.Gold creeps me out the most. I thought only Stephen King could write creepy characters and that real people wouldn't excede that level." Felicia said also shuddering at the thought. Why had they been in Maine the last 12 hours when they should have been in Canada by now. " There better not be something that wanted us here."Felicia thought as Avery got out of the car.

" Yes! Thanks so much!" Felicia said to August as she got out of the car." What do you recommend from the diner?" She asked feeling she could trust August. There was something about the man that felt familiar, like she had met him before somewhere. " Of course I've never met this guy before." Felicia said to herself.

------

" You both are very welcome. I recommend the lasagna at the diner, but pretty much all the food is really good." August said to answer Felicia. There was some sort of spark in these girls and had to find out if they might be in Henry's storybook somehow. From what he remembered there was a story about a group of magic users that had left the Enchanted Forest a few centuries before the curse, but he couldn't be sure how two outsiders would have a connection to that group.

Avery nodded at Augusts suggestion, though lasagna sounded good what she really needed right now was a good, fat, greasy bacon cheeseburger. Oh, and fries if they had some, topped off with pecan pie. Avery almost drooled at the thought of so much food. "Do you want to join us for dinner?" she asked politely. It was the decent thing to do, though she was no where close to trusting this stranger yet he had agreed to show them around. Plus, it's not like they would be staying here longer than tonight so there was no harm in being nice.

"Ah, here we go..." he muttered. Mr. Gold's face was illuminated by the glow of his computer screen, there had been nothing to dig on the girls so far. Their record was as perfect as it be, save a few speeding tickets they had gotten when they were wild and younger. Mr. Gold stared into the screen utterly confused, this wasn't possible. How could this be? There was no way this should be happening. With narrowed eyes Gold got off his computer, he needed to keep a closer eye on the girls.

" I've already had dinner, but I would love to join you both. I can introduce you to Granny and Ruby." August said. He would admit he liked these two and would have some pie while they ate. He really wanted to see the look on Regina's face when he saw the girls tomorrow and hoped that she wouldn't try to run them out of town. He carefully got off his bike and needed to figure out a way to keep the girls longer than just a night.

Felicia hoped the menu had fish and chip, since she was in the mood for something greasy. She also wanted some apple pie and ice cream if there was some. She felt the stares of the people when they entered the diner and tensed up. She hated moments like these , since it reminded her of high school. She didn't have many friends and had gotten into trouble a few times more than she would admit.

As they walked into the diner Avery's stomach flipped, the smell of food, the people it all had such a homey feeling to it. There seemed to be only one server, she seemed young, a few years younger than Avery perhaps and seemed a bit like Felicia and Avery used to be, rebels. She smiled to them "Hi, welcome to Granny's diner" she said cheerily. "Thanks" smiled Avery, they got the seat closest to the windows, Avery sat down beside Felicia with August across from them. Avery ordered what she wanted and waited on Felicia to order, as she waited she turned to August, "So..do you live here or are you just traveling around like us?" her head was tilted to the side as she questioned August.

He slunk through the night, he needed to go tell Regina. It wasn't often that he worked with her but he was sure he would be well rewarded if he dropped the hint that there were two new creatures going about town. The Mayors house was almost across town, the night was cold as he hobbled as fast as he could to her place. Gold passed his shop and took a quick glance to see if everything was in order or not, the shop still seemed shut tight and no security breaches either. After what seemed like an eternity he had finally reached Regina's door, he rang the bell once and stood waiting.

Felicia liked the diner right away and gave a warm smile to their server. " I'll have the fish and chip special." She said since Avery had left out desert and figured that they would order that after the meal. She noticed there was a good crowd here and figured this was the place to be on a Thursday night. She had an odd feeling about these people, almost like something was keeping these people in line.

" Just traveling like you ladies. I'm a writer and I like looking for stories." August said. It was the truth, but it wasn't why he was here in Storybrooke. He was eager to find out who these girls were and hoped that Henry would let him see the book again. Something bothered him about them, and wondered if they were capable of using magic in this world. He had met a man in Hong Kong who was a magic user, but he had been killed. That made August wonder if there was the chance of more outsiders once the curse was broken.

Regina had been working on some things for the next city council meeting when she heard the door bell. She was glad Henry was in his room doing his homework and didn't know who would be coming over this time of night." Mr. Gold. It's unexpected to see you here." She said wondering what the pawnbroker had in mind. She knew that if Emma ever believed in magic, then her curse would be broken, and then everything she had worked for would be lost.

"You're a writer?" Avery asked suddenly interested. Her face was nestled amongst her palms as her elbow rested on the table and she seemed to lean in a bit. "What kind of stories do you go hunting for?" she asked August with a grin. Writing was a hobby of Avery's, when she wasn't making blueprints for houses and rooms she would lock herself away from the world and write. Avery never let anyone read her stories, not even Felicia. She would mention it to her sister and then quiet down, Avery was worried that people would ask for the inspiration behind her stories, but the truth was...she didn't know what it was. It was as if Avery knew what to write, it just came to her...a sort of deja vu was what Avery described it to herself as.

It had freaked Avery out the first time it had happened, she had dreamt about her story. From beginning to end, it was a nightmare really, Avery had been surprised by the fact that she remembered each and every little detail about her dream. Usually, normal people could barely remember they had dreamt by morning. Sometimes, it was the reverse way she would write the ending before she dreamt about it and then, the next night the story would play in her head with the same faces with the predetermined ending that Avery had written.

"Why, good evening Regina" Gold said with a crooked grin. "May I come in?" he said as he invited himself into the house. Taking a whiff he let out a deep breath, it always smelled like apple-cinnamon. The dark queen sure did love apples. As always, Regina's house was in tip top shape. She always had the newest furniture with a hint of vintage, as his eyes surveyed the room his eyes fell upon Henry. "Why hello there lad, you might want to run upstairs for a bit. I have some...business to discuss with your mother" Gold said with a nod to Henry as he turned to Regina.

" Unique stories. I once wrote a series of stories about a legend in Laos. The legend was that magic once existed in this world but had somehow been purged by the Laotian gods. But that it came back and is hiding from the ones that destroyed it. " August said. He had been intrigued that magic could exist in a world that was supposed to have none.

" Sounds like an interesting one." Felicia said with a smile. She often wished her sister would let her read the stories but knew that there was probably a very good reason for that. Felicia liked stories about magic, since it helped her relax from her job as a paralegal.

Henry nodded and went to his room. He closed the door and debated if he should contact Emma about this. Henry decided against it since Emma still didn't believe in magic and decided August would be the safer bet.

Regina wondered what Gold needed from her. She knew the curse. Was weakening and from her sources two strangers had arrived in Storybrooke. " I assume you are here because of the outsiders that have arrived. I was in the process of making them a pie to take on thier way out of here. " Regina said. She would do anything to get them out of her town.

"Laos" Avery muttered back. "Your life seems pretty interesting August" she said with a laugh. It must have been awesome to be travelling all the time, "So...you always travel alone?" Avery asked him curiously. She squealed in delight as they got their food, it looked and smelled absolutely delicious! Not to mention, her burger was easily double the size of what she got in the city and the fries looked deliciously salty. Thanking the girl for the food she stuck a fry into her mouth. "Mmm...this is heaven!" Avery said with a laugh.

"Aye, so you know about the girls" he said with a small nod. His eyebrow arched at the mention of pie, "You are going to bake them a pie..?" he looked at her confused. Regina generally wasn't concerned about strangers, but ever since Emma Gold guessed she was being extra careful. "There is something strange about them...as you know I like to collect...'information' on everyone I come in contact with and I couldn't find anything about them. There is absolutely no background information on them whatsoever." Gold's voice was low as he spoke to Regina urgently.

" Usually. I like to go to the places where I can think about why they hold significance to the people that live in the area. " August said and thanked Ruby for the pie. He didn't know how much longer these girls would be in town but had a feeling Regina would do what she could to get them to leave.

Felicia was amaized at how good the food was here. " I agree. You can't get serving sizes like this in a big city. " She said with a smile. " Why do I have a feeling that we'll be here a while? I hate to think that something bad will happen to either of us. " She thought as she ate her meal.

" What do you mean by that. If they are outsider then there has to be some record of thier schooling or anything else. These days everything a person does is on the Internet. " Regina said feeling concerned. Could these women be from their realm, but knew tht was impossible. She had heard rumors that there once had been magic users in their land that had left in for of persecution, but had never believed those silly stories.

"Doesn't it get lonely?" Avery asked him with a small laugh, "I mean...Felicia lives literally ten minutes away from me and I'm always knocking on her door to let me in because I'm bored out of my mind!" she said with the shake of her head. But then again, Avery was still a bit of a child inside. She was very fidgety and couldn't sit in solitude if she wasn't writing or reading. It also needed to be the right mood for her to want to read and writing...that was a whole different story. Avery limited her writing to when she dreamt, if she dreamt she would try to wake herself up and write the dream down immediately.

Gold shook his head, "Nothing, not even parent names that can be traced" he said with a shrug. "They seemed to literally have sprung out of thin air" his fist clenched over the knob of his cane as he thought about this situation. "What or rather who do you think they are?" his voice was a whisper once more. He just couldn't put his finger on it...they were familiar to him. But why? Why were they this familiar?!

" It does but I manage." August said and finished his pie. " It was nice talking to you ladies tonight. " He said and carefully stood up. The pain in his legs was getting worse and he needed to get out of here before Avery and Felicia noticed anything strange. " Hope to see you tomorrow. " He said.

Felicia could see pain in his eyes and hoped he was alright. She could sometimes tell when others were in pain and shuddered at the thought of a past memory. They had lost their parents at a young age and had been raised by distant relatives. Felicia never understood why their records had been sealed and hoped it wasn't because of their parents.

" The lack of records could signal they are in the witness protection program but it could also be they are from where we are. I often heard stories of magic users fleeing to worlds without magic because they feared the evil in our land. " Regina said wondering about these sisters.

"Super nice talking to you too August!" Avery said with a small smile as she scooped the last bit of pie down her. Avery chuckled, "No offence...but I hope to be getting out of here tomorrow and in Canada by tomorrow night" she said with a shake of her head. How they had reached Maine was still beyond her, one minute they were almost in Buffalo and the next minute they were thrown into a town known as Storybrooke. Avery got up to pay the bill for her and Felicia. She made small chat with Ruby and asked the girl if she could show them where the motel was, Ruby smiled and nodded and told them to follow her when they were ready.

"I think there is something more there than meets the eye with those sisters, even our dear little Pinnochio seems to sense it" Gold looked up at Regina. He knew that she felt as threatened by August as he did because after all, he was one of the people that remembered what had happened and him opening his mouth could put Regina's entire plan in jeopardy. "We need to stop them...and August" Gold hissed out.

What he didn't know was the Henry had been listening to the conversation the whole time, the boy needed to do something to save August, Emma and the two girls.

" We're ready." Felicia said with a smile on her face. She really needed a chance to talk to Avery about all this, since something in the air was making her very nervous. They followed Ruby to the inn and she was impressed by the size of it." Want me to get our bags sis while you check us in?" She offered, since she figured their car wasn't too far from where they were now and hoped that she wouldn't run into Mr. Gold while she was there.

" I agree something must be done about them, but only if they don't leave tomorrow. " Regina said and wasn't going to tell Gold about the plan to get rid of Emma. She had just retrieved the poison apple from the past and once the pie was finished would make the turnover. Regina had been very careful to keep that particular apple separate from the ones she used to make the pie.
