Is that worrying? I spotted that in the statistics in the forum index.

I mean, I'll be biased and pick an example from the Writers forum (always inactive on any website), but the bottom thread on page 1 had its last post in June 2012. i.e., 9 months ago.

And in the GD (which should be lively), it takes a month for a thread to move to page 2.

I don't even know what is the criteria of that 'active', to be included in the count.

Actually that's about what we're stuck at right now...
It will jump up to about 1,300 during an event but other than that about 1,000 people seems normal now

1000 would be a pretty good number, if those people would actually participate..

The activity count goes on people who've logged in in the past 30 days

You guys know that a lot of the activity issue is how a lot of people develop various phobias and habits with regard to posting anywhere other than their habitual threads, or making new threads for that matter : /

Maybe.... though maybe if mene "sponsored" a forum or a thread or something each day that would help make it easier for people to join a new thread?

like Fresh Meat Friday?

Drawing people's attention to a different area works in that instant, but it tends to not have long-lasting affect. Or that's what I've noticed anyway

Still, if it helps get people out of their comfort zone and familiarize them with other things...
It's almost like a public service. Plus, people do like to feel like there is something special to focus on. That's the appeal of events.

True... remember when I think it was Seito did a small event a while back? When the announcement put it out there it exploded.

I've definitely noticed that thread production is low... and that most posting activity is in tight hangouts.

Have you seen the one where John Cleese is nice enough to reenact that scene with a young fan?

I did challenge people to make threads in the music forum last year, if you guys remember.

A few were really negative about me doing that :O

"I can see what you're trying to do, but it's not going to work!"

Kind of unsuprising that we have some stagnant forums if that's some people's attitude ><

Like for one thing... FAQs never really changes cause we can't post there... why not push that link up with this stuff?

That reduces the number of forums and makes it accessible globally

Would it be as eye catching there, though? FAQ is meant to be a stop before the users posts questions in the info desk.
