Well since we're now in the far distant past we might as well make ourselves useful. Let's catalog some of these suckers before they're extinct.
How to catalog a creature
Well flash photography is certainly out.
No telling how they'd react to it. Besides we have our handy dandy explorers journal to fill out.
We'll have to trust our pencils and words to do a proper job. For this contest I'm looking for a few drawings and a few descriptions. You can do both forms of entry or only one. Which ever you like. More details about each part and forms to fill out in the sections below.
Join as much as you like. On your main or alt. We have a lot of ground to cover this week folks. Who knows what sort of fascinating creatures aren't in the fossil record.
These are some interesting prints! Let's sketch them before whatever made them comes back!
For this part of the contest draw an image of a dinosaur, their prints, or other prehistoric plants & animals. It could be based off of a real species or a "newly discovered" one you make up. Have fun!

trying something without legs. haha I wanted to make a plant today, but couldn't think of anything
and the EIs evidently are much better bought with time tokens, so I think I will take fast cash for everything? sorry for the indecisiveness >3>[/QUOTE]

It's a cute little reptile that's got a bit of a trick on it's tail to lure in some tasty eats
Sorry the quality is a bit odd looking. lol I haven't used my tablet in years. Very weird trying to get use to it again.

Much less awesome and cute than the other entries. I have no skills with photoshop or other art programs. But I tried!
These are some interesting prints! Let's jot down some notes on them before whatever made them comes back!
For this part of the contest write a description on some loose leaf or journal pages about a prehistoric animal or plant species. Scan it or take a photo. Make it around 250-500 words. It could be based off of a real species or a "newly discovered" one you make up. Have fun!

Prizes for this contest will be based on participation rather the a 1st-3rd system.
Every time you make a fully rendered entry you get your choice of 1000g OR you can wait till you catalog 3 animals and claim an EI.
If you make a sketch for the Art portion it will be worth 250g
If you write a blurb using the mene forum as opposed to Physically writing a Journal entry and taking a picture of it. It will be worth 250g
Yes the whole "everyone's a winner" is rather millennial of me. However, those of you with a truly excellent work ethic will have a great earning potential in this contest.
Now I must warn you...
NO CHEATING! If I can google your art or write up. You're in BIG trouble.
All in all. I hope you enjoy your creative endeavors and this event.
I literally threw this together with one day left while trying to get pixels done because we don't have that many staff ran threads due to real life issues. Obviously it shows.
Yes I'm certain I want people to get gold for entering. It takes out the judging step which our current staff size we don't have time for.
I personally don't think any one person will want to make it past 25 images. As it wouldn't leave much time for anyone to do anything else during the event if all they did was art for this.
But sure let's lower it for future entrants.
1000g won't be for sketches at all but finished images (like what zeapear has done)
uncolored sketches will be 25g.
As for the writing thing. You will actually need to submit an image if what I had in mind was to be done. I was thinking legit journal entries. So like images of journal/lined paper with your discovery hand written on it. Think old timey Explorers journals.
Written entries that aren't images (ie just typed out on mene) will be given 25g and the ones that look like legit journal entries will be given 1000g
I'll fix the descriptions on things shortly on this. But I really need to concentrate on pixels first.
