I always have trouble with creating a character that I am happy with, as they quite often end up looking cliche to me, no matter what I do to change it. So here I am, looking for character creating tips. Help me? Search with me? Or even refer me to someone who could help, and I will be grateful.

I just pick one character concept and evolve it over time (a lot of my characters are different branches of the same concept). Whenever I get an idea that could never be a part of that concept, though, it starts an evolution of its own. Maybe you should just sit and think about a concept that you think would be fun to work with--don't worry about whether it seems cliche at first; you can change bits and pieces to give your character more individuality as you go along. (I am in no way saying to work with only one character--that is generally a no-no.)

What I generally do, is I go find a picture, and then I create my character from that picture. Most of the people I Rp with do it the same way as well, as it helps with the 'How should I have them look' phase. *laughs slightly*

Anyway, as I was saying, I generally find it easier to create a character from a picture.
