Yes, we are. Once we have someone to code it. Right now everything is waiting on that. Inso's job just gets busier and busier and he has barely 5 minutes to dedicate to us each week. But things are looking hopeful for him finding us a dedicated coder who's skills are up to his exacting standards.

Once we have someone in place we can start really moving on the new features (including the cash shop) that we have currently waiting in the wings :)

Items that can be bought for cash :P

Basically what will go into the cash shop are items which should hopefully be popular enough for it to be wise to have them permanently available. Rather than have them as a CI and a lot of people never be able to get them.

Also, items that would make a good CI, but are either too gender specific, or too colourful to be worth risking them as a short-term availability item.

It certainly won't be like Gaia's cash shop, I know a lot of people have that fear, but it's unfounded. All the staff here disapproves of how Gaia manages its cash shop, and there's no way in hell that we're going to go down the same route.

While I hate Gaia's cash shop, I do think the evolving items are brilliant, will we be seeing any of that on Mene?

If we were to see them, I'd want them to be monthly items, or the equivalent, not ridiculously expensive pixels.

We've already had evolving items on here, I'm sure we will have more in the future :yes:

I was looking at Topic Spy, and I happened to see jelly's post, and I got shocked that we've had evolving items already over here? o_O;; I didn't know, lolz. 8DD;;

And I have the sentiments about Gaia's Cash Shops. ^^;;
While it doesn't benefit me personally (as I have no way of paying real cash from over here where I live xDD), I can't wait for the items that are gonna appear in it. =P <3<3

We've had two lots, the birthday item from last year that went from giftbox to cake hat, and the April Fool items that started off as Easter eggs and turned into spork, fake gun and Channah's panties. We just don't have any easy means right now to make those "proper" evolving items, as in, give people the previous options as well as the end product. Because our only means of doing that would be having to swap every item that's in the system manually, and that would take a very long time :sweat:

Ohh, I see, I see. =O <3<3
No wonder I never knew about them then, since I wasn't around for both of those events. ^^;;

May I ask though if there is any progress in developing that future option? =O
You don't need to answer if it's still supposed to be a secret and under wraps. I'm just curious though. ^^;; <3<3

All right then. :> I understand~ ^^

Back to a previous topic though. xDD;;
I should find a way to pay using real cash. :x
It sucks when the system here isn't as... trustworthy, as it is in other places. ^^;;

Well, if you're talking about Paypal, that can be problematic wherever you are, can't it :sweat:

Yeah, but it might depend on the country, might have to quiz Yan about the reliability of Pinoy Paypal!

Paypal was only available for the Philippines kinda recently, I think. @_@;;
At least, I do remember that it didn't exist around two or three years ago?
Cause, that was when I was buying some webcomics online. xDD;;

Is there any easier way to do things, like by just adding a pose to an item? I remember before the Cloak of Death only had four poses but recently a 5th skull pose was added to it, but I don't remember seeing anyone say anything about replacing each cloak in everyone's inventories one by one... how did that work out? Or did whoever switched them do it fast and silently enough to the point where nobody noticed? xD;

Ah well, the cloak of death is already a multi-item, so it's easy to just add another item to it :yes: The issue here is we can't turn a regular item into a multi item, I asked Ken if that was possible and he said yes, but he never did it, so I think that really meant no xD

I asked Inso, and he says it would be "painful", so from a guy with Inso's coding skills, that clearly means it would be a nasty task.

I'll explain the concept here:

Think of a normal item as a, hmm...a sock! OK? Multi-items on the other hand are like the drawer the socks live in. So to make a multi-item, first you create the drawer, then you add the "socks" into the slots inside the drawer. But you can't turn a sock into a drawer.

So our only option with the eggs and so on, is to create a new multi-item and put the already existing parts into it, and that leaves us with the super tedious switching out problem again.

I like to stay out of technical discussions regarding the site, but using your sock analogy:

Why can't you just make a sock drawer with one sock in it? Then just add socks as you get more. A one-item multequip for evo items seems to make sense intuitively...

That's not the issue though, Kin, because what you've described is what we do with every CI and EI that's a multi. The problem is the distribution of the old items that weren't multis previously, but now are, because there's thousands of them.

The multi itself isn't an equipable item you see, it's just a container, which is why we can't change the April Fool eggs or the cake hat easily. Going forward there's no problem at all, it's just those old items because we can't convert a current item's layer ID into a multi as they're different things.

I know this might sound completely absurd, and as I know nothing about coding and such, I have no idea if it's even possible, but...

What if, instead of switching everyone's items out, you simply made a new version that's a multi-equip item, and then make an announcement asking everyone who owns said items to trade them to a staff envoy. Then, instead of having to rummage painstakingly through everyone's inventories, you just trade the new multi-equip version of the items for the non-multi-equip versions.
