Three Leaf Tavern

There is a long road that leads from just about everywhere else through a large, beautiful forest, to a another town deep in the mountains near caves rumored to be filled with treasure. This long road is several days travel and though well traveled easy to get lost on, however, so in the center of this long road is a beautiful inn. It is enchanted to call those who are lost and also works as a tavern. The era in fact seems to draw magical creatures by its nature and make them never want to leave!

The Inn is divided into two parts. The wooden structure with it's sweeping balcony where the guest rooms are and the brick structure that houses the bar, the kitchen, the dining room, rooms to repair equipment including metal weapons, and the rooms of the staff. All but the kitchen and individual staff rooms/taken guest rooms are open to guests to wander as they will. The two structures are connected by a long hall with glass windows, enchanted not to break, so that one can peak out at the garden and the beautiful birds that have a habit of landing there.

The entrance of the tavern is in the brick part of the building and is the room where the bar/eatery is with the dining room to the left opening. There is always a npc bartender to greet you and will give you a room key on request. The rooms cost a simple donation of your choice, the food and drink are free. If you are too drunk the bartender reserves the right to stop serving you alcohol, however.

Scars/Tattoos: There are two clean gashes along the left corner of her lip, the longest of which kisses the corner of her eye.
Inhuman Features: To be of note: Cassidy seems to take on a sinister air if she becomes angry or upset. Her eyes seem to glow a rusty red in the dark and her voice may become dry and raspy. Though she is such a well adjusted young lass. I am sure you will have no trouble handling her.
Clothing Style: Cassidy wears a gray overcoat with a hood, the cloth woolen and heavy when wet, though she never seems to mind. Beneath her clothes are usually simple and unimpressive. She usually carries with her a bag filled with various herbs and tools. The item to take most note of would be an old, rusting one-handed harvesting scythe. It's blade is chipped and hasn't seen a whet stone in years.

Jack had been laying across the bar top in the tavern as if he owned the place. Really it wasn't very busy, he was bored, and a cat. You could always expect a cat to lounge in places that would inconvenience people the most. His tail swished lazily behind him and the bartender had long since given up protesting Jack's choice of lounging spots. The Nekojin had simply ignored him anyway, when the door opened those eyes turned to it. Familiar, hated sight, met those eyes just as the wolf's scent found his nose. Jack moved quickly, leaping off the bartop and bounding to Krinn. The wolf seemed surprised, but Jack was only angry. He hissed at Krinn through that mask he wore and grasped the other male by the neck, pulling him into the Tavern and then turning to slam him against the nearest wall. Murder shone in Jack's cat like eyes. "I told you I'd kill you if I ever saw you again. Are you prepared to die, mongrel?" The grip around Krinn's throat tightened.

A tavern, it would be good to rest there. Krinn was exhausted and hungry, the pain in his body from his last change only just now beginning to dull. Soon he would be stuck as a wolf forever again. It was a fate he was resigned to, his only regret was not being able to find Vega before the were leopard had died. He had tried, he had tried so hard. There was a slight frown on his lips as he approached the tavern in his human form. It was his true form, light lilac colored eyes seemed heavy with sorrow and he pushed the door open. An action he regretted immediately as a familiar, threatening scent filled his nose, Krinn was too surprised to move. If he hadn't let his surprise get the better of him, he might have been able to dodge the hand that reached out to grasp him by the throat. He whimpered and wriggled, reaching up to wrap his hands around Jack's wrist. "J-Jack.." He winced as he was slammed against the wall and wriggled some, gasping and spluttering for air. "S....s-stop.." Krinn didn't seem interested in fighting back, but only because he didn't want to hurt the neko.

Dinnae 'Di' Faervell
"I do not think the bartender will like their being a mess such as that. Would you be so kind as to put him down?" said a soft, soothing voice as the woman who had been dancing earlier stepped over placing her delicate smooth hand on Jack's shoulder. She had secured the job some time ago and so did what she could to keep peace at the inn. Then again it was always Di's nature to try to keep things calm, perhaps because of her own calm nature. Once again it had been proven that little could ruffle her feathers as hearing the fight she had simply stepped off the platform and taken the leash of her seeing eye ....wolf looking dog? and walked over with enough grace she appeared to float.

"Besides I think the young lady who smells like wild flowers who just entered has business with one of you." She added as she heard the door open and two steps near them only to stop. She could sense the tension of not only the men but something else, what she could only guess was the woman's. She smelled not only of wild flowers but there was a faint scent of tears long shed and dried. Di didn't seem to think much of it other then what she had said, however, only giving the Nekojin a soft smile. She let her hand drop now and stepped back, her wolf handing her the umbrella in its mouth so she could lean on it.

Mei Miyano
Mei entered slowly, tracking the scent of one she loved but feared would soon be lost. Once again she and Emi had fought, and once again Emi had done something to try and take Mei's happiness. Mei was cursed to be trapped in one form, her female human form, until she could break it. Normally this would be painful for the non human, gender bending soul which required shifting between male and female as well as human and part dragon to feel whole.... now with her beloved being gay it was devastating to her. Would he leave her? How could he not?

"Jack.... Hey, remember me?" She joked as she hid her distress, giving him a warm and teasing smile. She slipped her hands in her pockets and looked between the two men. She was puzzled by it really, almost enough to draw her out of her thoughts. She eyed the wolf shifter with suspicion for a moment but seeing his refusal to fight back she doubted he was any threat. Just what had Jack so angry?

Jack was content to choke the life out of Krinn, though he would have much enjoyed disemboweling the wolf while Krinn watched. A fitting end for the mongrel, at least in Jack's opinion. His nose wrinkled in disdain, he barely glanced at the dancer when she approached and put her hand on his shoulder. He could ignore her easily, deal with this mutt and then be gone before the bartender could get too angry at him. Those ears twitched, his nose wrinkled a bit and he glanced at the blind woman for a moment before his attention completely turned to Mei. "This won't take long." It really wouldn't, especially since Krinn wasn't fighting back. There was something beneath the surface of that teasing smile, something a little off. Jack released Krinn, letting the wolf crumple to the floor where he promptly kicked the mutt hard in the chest. "I'm not done with you, if you leave I'll hunt you down, dog." Jack turned to Mei. The anger and murderous intent seemed to melt away somewhat, it boiled just beneath the surface of Jack's happiness as he smiled at his Mei, arms reaching out to pull her close and hug her tightly. He nuzzled her neck and inhaled deeply of her scent. "Gods I've missed you, koibito"

The wolf whimpered, almost afraid for the life of the woman that interfered, but Jack seemed intent on ignoring the blind woman. He gripped Jack's wrist tightly, digging sharp fingernails into it to try and get the neko to loosen. Krinn thought maybe his chance had come when all of Jack's attention seemed to turn to a female that had just entered. The cat's grip hadn't changed though and Krinn wriggled, struggling to get free without actually fighting the neko. If this didn't end soon though, Krinn would start the fight back, assuming he didn't pass out from lack of oxygen first. Then he was released, that was unexpected and he fell into a heap on the floor. A grunt and whimper escaped his lips as Jack kicked him hard in the torso, he gasped and inhaled deeply as he slowly sat up. Well at least Jack was distracted now. Krinn was a little dizzy, but he slowly got to his feet and began to slowly inch away from the neko.

Dinnae 'Di' Faervell
Di did not respond to the man, sensing he didn't really hear her. She stayed silent and simply held her umbrella, inwardly debating if she would have to interfere. As Krinn dropped she would wait a moment to see if the other male was going to continue his attack past a simple kick and when he walked away she knew his lover was far more distracting then the wolfkin. She half smiled and simply bent next to him. She held out one hand, cold as if she'd come in from the snow, towards him and offered to take him to the back room to rest. She offered him a warm smile, an almost angelic smile that held promises of protection. Everything about her was sweet, delicate, and somehow sweet. Her own wolf companion, however, appeared just the opposite and eyed all three of them with great suspicion.

"Koibito" She repeated, as if savoring the word. She simply clung to him a moment, shivering as he nuzzled her neck. Mei knew this couldn't last forever, but some things were inescapable. She would lose him, just as Emi had intended, of that she felt certain. She took a breath, simply brushing her warm lips across his cheek before she slowly and reluctantly disentangled herself from his grip. She would interlace their fingers and slowly lead him towards a quiet corner table, tugging him along behind her. For once she appeared shy, almost demure and submissive. She could not be more opposite of the bold, flirtatious Mei he knew as she sat down and then waited for him to do the same. Once he had she would speak, her gaze on her fingertips.

"We.. both know how you feel about this form, about all women's forms. Apparently, Emi found out too and you know how she is about me being happy. She has found a way to curse my form so I can no longer shift between my forms. Even the dragon's shape-shifting powers are suppressed. I......am grateful you accepted me as the gender switch i am, but I will not try to trap you in a relationship where you can not enjoy yourself. I will not stop you, if you want the romantic part of our relationship to end and for us to just be..... friends." She said slowly, inwardly wincing. She didn't tell him that many of her other dragon related powers were suppressed, knowing he would feel obligated then. Yes, that put her in more danger then not being able to switch genders but becoming utterly unappealing to him scared her more. He was the first person who had truly accepted her for what she was... neither a he or a she but Mei, fusion of both spiritually to the point it carried over to the physical.

Krinn rubbed his neck lightly, frowning softly. He willingly took the hand the blind woman offered, shivering slightly at the coldness of her touch. Krinn stood slowly, compliant, willing enough to accept her help and allow her to take him to the back room. He watched her wolf for a few moments, it didn't seem like a normal wolf to him, but then he wasn't a normal wolf either. Krinn was silent as he let this woman lead him to the back room.

Jack let Mei lead him away, watching her carefully as they sat down. His ears twitched and he was only half aware that Krinn was being led away. For now, this was much more important than punishing that wolf. Something was definitely wrong and he paid close attention to his Mei, frowning slightly behind his mask. His ears pointed towards her as she spoke. He let her finish talking before he stood so suddenly that his chair fell over. In moments he was pulling her out of her chair and crushing her to his chest. A hand running down her spine and one through her hair. "Idiot. I'm in love with you. Not your body. Don't you have faith in me, trust in my love?" For a moment he sounded hurt, hurt that she would think he could or would leave her over something so trivial as not being able to enjoy her male form.

"Mei is Mei and I am in love with Mei." He let her go then, pulling his mask down and then crushing his lips against hers. It was a passionate kiss, deep and eager. To leave no doubt in her mind, then he broke the kiss, let her look upon his uncovered face for a few moments, then pulled the mask back up. Always hiding. "What kind of pain will such a restriction put you through?" The anger that had been barely boiling beneath the surface was coming back to a full boil. Anger at Krinn and anger at Mei's sister. He would punish that woman for trying to harm his Mei.

Dinnae 'Di' Faervell
"You should rest..... this place might be a little hectic sometimes but they keep the patrons pretty safe...... from each other anyway. Out in the caves people are kinda on their own." Di advised softly as she lead him to the back room. It was a simple, spacious area with very little furniture. It was mainly just a place for staff to take a break so really only had a bed to lay down, a table and a few random chairs. There was also a single shelf with various objects including instruments and such.

"My name is Dinnea but most call me Di." She introduced cheerfully enough, not seeming bothered or worried by the fact he eyed her wolf suspiciously or any other such thing. You would think from her cheerful tone that they had just met at the bar under perfectly normal circumstances. She smiled at him softly and innocently as one would expect as well even as the wolf stayed on guard. It was not so happy to have Di stand between the two men but it knew it's mistress well enough not to try to dissuade her. Di was the frailest looking thing but her will was unstoppable.

Quote:
Mei Miyano
Mei looked up quickly as she heard him stand and the chair fall. She barely had time to shift her hands away from one another when she suddenly found herself lifted from her chair and crushed almost painfully against him. She might have expected anything but most certainly not something so suddenly and practically violent. She was not frightened by it, but at the same time she was too surprised to think almost anything of it. She shivered, the teasing and slightly possessive seeming trailing hand stirring other thoughts. Relief, hope, and maybe a little bit of warmth to replace the chill that the certainty she was going to be alone had surrounded her with.....

She started to say something, wanting to say she trusted him or anything really but soon his lips were crushing her own with far too much force to say anything. She hesitated but soon her arms were around his shoulders and she was returning the kiss with a little more of the fire and passion he was use to, for Mei had always been a creature of passion and there was nothing in her life she did without it. She bit her lip as he withdrew and for a moment she simply hid her head in his chest, even if it rather annoyed her that she could not resist the urge to do so. The honestly rather aggressive woman was not use to feeling so vulnerable, so shy... then again it had been some time since she'd opened up to someone the way she had to Jack. Had all the lovers who really just used her secrets as a fetish or some similar thing instead of just seeing it as trivial and unimportant to who she was made her so hardened? She took a breath and spoke again, softly still but with a more even and confident voice.

"it wasn't.... that I don't trust you.... I just... well, we're both vibrant passionate people and I thought you might want someone you could still enjoy. I'm sorry, I guess I've just never had anyone as good as you." She looked up as she said the last, deliberately teasing slightly to give it a double meaning. She hoped to lighten the mood, being the joking creature she was. Sometimes she wondered if she had made him feel trapped, like she would leave if he didn't love her in return and had wanted to just not be alone, because of how they had began when she'd revealed everything of what she was. Now, it seemed she had worried for nothing.... He just loved her. She pushed aside the guilt and spoke again, finally answering his question though she shifted slightly as if uncomfortable with the fact.

"I..... don't know. Normally staying in one gender form for too long is painful but part of it is because the dragon fire builds the longer i keep in one form and only shifting releases enough energy to get rid of it. The curse though.... did more then just suppress my forms. It has suppressed much of my dragon power so it may not be as painful as my fire is much weaker then it was." She explained softly. Without so much power welling within her it would likely be easier to hold a form but it would be harder to fight. She was sure her sister would not hesitate to send someone to kill her once she was sure Mei had suffered enough....

Krinn couldn't help but feel a little ashamed for the scene his presence had caused, he frowned deeply. "My name is Krinn." He spoke the words softly, as he looked over the room. He moved to one of the chairs and sat down. "I'm sorry for causing such a scene. If I had known Jack was here, I wouldn't have come in." He realized now though, that he should have recognized traces of Jack's scent as he had followed the path up to the tavern. He had simply been too tired to really pay attention. He slumped in the chair, running a hand over his chest. Bruised but nothing was broken at least, and he was sure there were bruises around his throat.

"I can still enjoy you, koibito, and trust me, you'll never find anyone better than me." He winked at her, smiling playfully behind his mask. Then that smile was gone as she finally answered his question. He frowned deeply. It was good if this didn't cause her pain, but it wasn't good that it limited her power. She was a strong person, a powerful person. Without that power she would be vulnerable and Jack, despite how hard he might try, was not good at protecting the vulnerable. "We'll just have to find away to free you of this curse, so you can have all of your terrifying power back, we also need to teach your sister a lesson." That was the important thing, Mei's unrestricted power, the ability to shift from male to female wasn't very important at all. At least, in Jack's mind. Mei being able to fend for herself was the most important because Jack could not always be there to help or protect her.

Dinnae 'Di' Faervell
That would be too bad, everyone is welcome here. If you would like to lay down you may, I'm done with my dance for a bit if you would like to talk too." She said simply as she sat on a nearby chair. She perched slightly as if she was a bird, her stance appearing poised but at the same time utterly relaxed. It was simply her nature to move in this way, every muscle in her body composed and controlled. She continued to smile at him softly, her wolf placing his massive head on her lap as he watched the man. As he sat his head down Di would pet him softly, waiting for the other to decide what would be. If he wished to lay down and rest he could, if not she would listen. The bartender meanwhile would come in with a pot of tea, two cups, and a small saucer like bowl. Judging by Di's nod it was a tradition after her dance as the bartender left, though the added cup was simply the bartender's instinct.

"This warm tea will help your throat likely." She said softly as she poured him a cup with practice ease. She then sat it on the small table between them nearer to him. She would then pore her own and put some in the saucer. She added honey to her own cup and the saucer before she placed the saucer in front of her wolf's head. The wolf would then lick it carefully and delicately, as if he were conscious of the risk of spilling it on his mistress and determined not to.

Quote:
Mei Miyano
"I have other tricks my dear, I'll be alright. Still, terrifying? My, perhaps you know me better then I thought you did. Am I such a terrifying creature?" She teased softly as she gazed up at him, relieved but sensing his worry even if she wasn't sure how he could enjoy her. She was a warrior hardened by time and a sister who wanted nothing more then her destruction. This back and forth game had began long ago when even dragons were young and would continue even after the last dragons fall, not the dragon spirit she communicated with liked to admit it. Her sister's madness would not die until she or Mei were dead, Mei had accepted that long ago....

"I hear they have good books here, perhaps we should focus on those more then my sister..." She finally said softly, knowing there was no way to 'teach her sister a lesson'. She honestly wasn't sure she could say she wanted to. Part of her felt to blame for her sister's madness. Perhaps if she had learned to control the dragon fire faster, or left before it could harm anyone, her sister could have lived a happy normal life. Maybe if she'd just done something, anything different. She shook her head and gazed back up at the man before her thoughtfully.

He would leave soon, he was sure of that. But not yet, Jack had threatened him to stay and if he left the cat would certainly hunt him down. Krinn glanced at the bed, he was tired, but there would be no rest here. Not until he was certain Jack really wouldn't kill him. He shook his head slightly and watched her, the way she held herself was interesting, every movement seemed calculated already. He let the thoughts slip away as the bartender came in with cups and tea, Krinn didn't meet the man's eyes. Still feeling rather ashamed for the scene moments ago, he was rather glad once the bartender left and he watched Di as she poured the tea. "Thank you, but it really isn't necessary." He was a fast healer, usually and bruises were next to nothing to him. Still, warm tea would help sooth and perhaps calm his nerves even though he didn't seem jittery by all outward appearances. He felt cornered and trapped though. He took the cup she had sat near him and brought it to his lips, sipping at the warm liquid and wondering what he could talk about with this woman. Did she want to know why Jack had attacked him? Or did she just mean she would listen if he needed to get things off his chest?

"Of course your terrifying, to others at least. You couldn't terrify me if your life depended on it." Jack grinned at her from behind his mask, his eyes dancing with playfulness for a moment, that expression fell slightly when she mentioned books. "Reading isn't as fun as revenge." He whined softly. "Besides, I'm not good at reading this human language, I'd be useless in a library." He glanced over his shoulder, as if suddenly remembering something. Right. There was a wolf in here that needed to be taught a lesson. "Also, I have some business to attend too." He hugged her fiercely again, then turned. "It really shouldn't take long, then I'll help you read." He started towards the back room, but he would stop if Mei stopped him.

"A good cup of tea is always necessary." Was Di's warm response. She let out a relaxed sigh of contentment as she took a sip of her tea. She didn't say anything for a moment, simply tilting her head to the side again. She could feel the mix of tension and emotion wafting through the air as nearly a physical presence against her skin. She said nothing for a moment before she tilted her head back towards him. She knew it would be helpful to know more. Did the woman out there know more? No her nervousness felt more personal.

"Just what is between you two anyway?"

Quote:

"We can research the curse other ways........Though, Revenge rarely is worth the cost.. My sister's mind was destroyed by it. Just what would you be trying to get revenge for on that guy anyway?" She asked quietly, standing slowly. She did not move to stop him, she simply put her hands in her pockets and prepared to follow. If he had hurt jack she would have a hard time resisting the urge to hurt him herself but at the same time she hadn't liked the look in his eyes. It had reminded her too much of the one her sister had, that crazed illogical look. She pushed that thought away quickly however.

Krinn took a few more sips of the tea as he held the cup in both hands. There it was, the direct question, at least know he knew exactly what Di wanted him to talk about. He inhaled deeply. How to start that one? He could be blunt and say it the way Jack saw it in his own mind, or he could tell it how it had really happened. Either way, Krinn was still partially responsible for it. His grip around the tea cup tightened a bit. "I was tracking a missing person, unknown to me at the time, an abomination created by the one who abducted the missing person was tracking me. I met Jack in a meadow outside of a tiny village where several of the village girls were picking wildflowers. It was then the monster hunting me caught up to me, Jack and I managed to get all the girls back to the village safely. Except for one." He closed his eyes, body tense as he squeezed the tea cup tighter. "She was further out in the meadow, further than the rest of the girls, and though we ran as fast as we could, neither of us could get to her in time. The monster killed her," The tea cup shattered in his hands and his eyes opened, though he didn't seem to notice the shards of porcelain that bit into his flesh or the tea that had spilled into his lap. "Jack killed that monster in a blind rage and turned on me, as far as he's concerned I killed her with my own fangs and claws." Krinn didn't move, he blinked and looked down at the remains of the cup in his hands, as if just realizing it was there.

"Depends on the revenge, sometimes it's worth it." He frowned so very deeply behind that mask. Her question made him pause and he bit his bottom lip from behind that mask. For a moment his hands clenched into tight fists, then relaxed. "He killed an innocent little girl." Saying the words out loud, it only made Jack angrier at Krinn, even if his tone of voice hinted that there was more to it. It wasn't quite that clear cut, in Jack's eyes it was that clear. Krinn had brought a monster and though the monster had been the one to do the deed, it was still Krinn's fault. The wolf was just as guilty as the creature. "I told him if I ever laid eyes on him again I would kill him. He knew better than to come to a place where I'm at." That said, he started for the back room again.

"I suppose that was easier for him then blaming himself for him...but I doubt either of you was to blame." was her gentle response after listening sympathetically but with little other emotion. It seemed almost as if she had sensed it was something like this, then again with Di it was hard to tell. She simply reached over and patted his hand gently, her hand hovering a moment as if to sense the warmth before finding it. It was a subtle motion but showed her blindness very real even if most of the time she seemed to see better then those with eyes. She could feel the tensions rising in the air, such blind rage clear to the old fox. She shook her head and took another sip of her tea without another word.

"There's more to it then that or he would have at least fought to save his own skin. What are you not telling me?" Was mei's rather blunt response. She was no fool, she knew there was darkness in her lover just as there was some in herself.... but he wasn't downright evil. However, not being evil didn't mean you couldn't be foolish now and then did it? She reached out on instinct and touched his arm, frowning at him. She suppressed a sigh, much of her relief having faded. Had she found he accepted her only to have to fight him so soon? She could not stand the thought of losing him to some crazed revenge as she had her sister and so many more to her sisters fury.

"Please....... talk to me." She whispered softly. She studied him a moment, as if hoping to see something there. She was so afraid that things had already changed too much, that as time passed he would grow less and less interested as they failed to find a cure.... but she was not the kind to back down and run away when she thought something was right. She couldn't do it, no matter what happened to her, even if she lost everything she had to be who she was and do what she thought was right.

"We both tried to save her and we both failed, I don't blame anyone but myself. If I had been more aware, I might have realized something was hunting me before an innocent child got involved." Krinn moved his hands, shifting them so that he had covered all the pieces of the broken teacup completely with his hands. He did it when he saw Di reaching out to pat his hand, not wanting her to accidentally get stuck by a piece of the broken cup. "I seem to have broken my teacup." He spoke the words as if in after thought and gently laid the pieces of the cup on the table with a slight noise. There were small nicks and scratches on his fingers, but nothing serious. They would heal quick enough.

"He's a cowardly dog." That was Jack's reasoning for why Krinn didn't fight back, but he stopped when she touched his arm. Turning to look at her, Jack didn't want to tell Mei, mostly because it was a very painful thing for him. He didn't want to relive it by telling it. He sighed softly as she whispered and shook his head, grasping her hand gently. "Let's go outside, I need the fresh air." Jack was sure she wouldn't protest, and if she did, he'd tug her along with him anyway. He turned from the direction of the back room and led her out of the Tavern and towards some trees. He didn't stop until he found a comfortable looking tree and then he sat below it and pulled Mei into his lap.

Jack pulled his mask off and hid his face against her neck. Scarred lips placing soft kisses there for a moment before he pulled back. "I was lounging in a meadow outside a small village, watching some children play and pick flowers, then he comes down the road, with some monster trailing along behind him." His arms around Mei tightened a bit. "There was a little girl, further out in the meadow, closer to where the creature had appeared. The other girls got to safety, but I couldn't get to that one in time. The monster killed that girl, so I obliterated the monster. Krinn brought that monster. He led it to those children and stood there and watched as it killed one. As far as I'm concerned, he killed her with his own hands." He buried his face against Mei's shoulder, hiding there. Jack was very protective of children, to be there, helpless to do anything. It had been unbearable and Jack had become more monstrous than the monster to kill it. What would Mei think of him, if she could have seen him then? Transformed by rage. Jack knew it was unjust to blame Krinn, but it was so much easier than to face himself. He had been too slow, he was just as much to blame. He hissed lightly. "If he weren't such a coward, running from monsters instead of fighting them, that child would still be alive."

"It is indeed a sad thing when children die, but it seems perhaps you should be blaming the one who did the killing too at least. Unfortunately we all miss something sometimes, it can't be helped." She said softly. As she spoke she shivered softly as only now did the blood reach her senses, her mind having been distracted by the scent of tea and focusing on Jack. She took a deep breath, a subtle shaking briefly winding through her hands. Her wolf licked her hand, sensing her distress as she resisted the scent. No matter how long ago she was transformed into a therian it seemed the blood lust would always be strong. Still with the force of her will Di forced it away and shook her head as if to clear it. She pulled out a handkerchief and held it out towards him a moment with her gentle smile once again in place.

Mei may have protested that it hadn't looked like fear but guilt if she'd had the time. Before she could, however, she felt herself pulled along. Under any circumstance being tugged along like a doll by him would have amused her but now she felt uncertain. What was he going to tell her? What had him so upset? As he pulled her close she absently wondered if the kisses were suppose to distract her, and judging by her shiver her body was distracted easily enough by him no matter how stubborn her mind. Still she would have persisted in asking him if he had not continued to speak. She shook her head slightly at his words, her straightforward nature making her unable to resist pointing out what she could hear in his voice.

"You know that's not true.... I can hear it in your voice. The monster was fought and the girl still died. It's tragic but the only one who killed that girl was the monster and becoming a monster by killing someone as guilt stricken as yourself wont bring her back. " She responded softly, her tone not quite as blunt as usual. She looked away slightly even as her body instinctively curled into his embrace, as if expecting him to push her out of it. She had given him such news and now told him he was full of it if not in so many words. She felt a rush of guilt for being so blunt and fear he would become angry at her now too. She closed her eyes a moment, wanting to enjoy each little kiss as each one she feared would be the last.

Krinn took the offered handkerchief lightly from her hands, though for a few moments he looked at it as if not sure what to do with it for a moment. The wolf wiped his hands with it lightly, wiping the tea and little bits of blood, and then he lightly patted his lap with it to soak up some of the tea that had spilled there. "It wasn't something I'd normally miss." He sighed softly and leaned back slightly in his chair. "I'm partly to blame even if not completely."

Jack shuddered lightly, keeping his arms tight around Mei. "He brought the monster. It's his fault." The nekojin kept his face hidden against Mei's shoulder, not wanting to look at her and not wanting her to pull away from him. She was right of course. She was being sensible and right. Jack grunted softly. "I can never forgive him for that." Krinn was useless and he got innocent children killed, at least that was how Jack saw him. "Any sensible wolf would know when he's being hunted. Any decent predator knows when he's being stalked, that useless wolf was to intent on the trail in front of him to pay any attention to the one behind him. His incompetence as a hunter got that child killed, he's as guilty as the beast he led to it."

She was humming again. She wasn't sure why she was humming that tune or why she even cared for it anymore. It tended to bring back memories she would prefer to see buried. Memories of trees and sunflowers and a red-eyed wolf. She sighed lightly, stopping along the path as she looked about. "Lost again, Cassidy, I would expect you to be better at this by now," she chuckled to herself, looking about with the tiniest of smiles. She shifted the bag on her shoulder as she continued to look about. "Maybe it's time you set up camp, old girl. Get a fire going to keep away the..." She trailed off, blinking into the dark at the softest of glows.

She began to move again, pace quickened and booted feet pounding the ground. She stopped as a grand and warm building came into view, her small smile widening. "Ah you lucky gal!" she hissed to herself beginning a light jog down and into the obvious inn.

It really was warm inside. A welcome change from the frigidity of the world outside. Cassidy Weatherby let out a loud and hearty chuckle, spinning on her heel in child like glee. There was the sound of footsteps heading for her and the quite hiss of conversation somewhere nearby, perhaps even in the room, but she could not find it in her to care. She was out of the cold and into warmth! There was no reason why she could not celebrate. She finally perked as a man tapped at a book with a pen, an eyebrow raised. "Oh! Sorry! Just a moment more sir!" she said, making her way over and signing her name. She was schooled quietly on the layout of the inn she had just signed into, directed to the dining room, bar, repair shops, and the off limits zones. She was then handed a key with a number and pointed in the direction of her room. Thanking him she turned and began to make her way toward the bar, beginning to hum again even as she ignored the two that seemed to be conversing.

"We all miss something sometimes, we are not gods here. I suppose I can no more convince you then I can see, however. Perhaps we should get you a room key?" Di suggested softly, seeming to relax a little now that the faint scent enchantment on her handkerchief was taking away a little bit of the scent of the blood. Her nails once again were still long but perfectly rounded at the tip as if manicured, her beast suppressed. A mystical kitsune with rage, hunger, and power over water and ice was not a were beast one wanted to be caught by....or release into an inn full of innocent people. She showed none of the struggle of suppression, however, and merely gave him that same warm smile.

"I don't think it's him you're having trouble forgiving..." was Mei's blunt response, a sigh escaping her lips. She leaned back against him a moment, closing her eyes as she listened to some birds singing. What a reunion this had been.... their two lives leading them apart and back together again at random, then her curse and now she was lecturing him. She shook her head, just leaning her cheek against his head as he nuzzled her. She shivered slightly, feeling a little uncertain. She wanted to help him somehow but she knew she couldn't. She was good at flirting, fighting, and telling the honest truth but little else. Fighting wouldn't help, the truth wasn't helping, and no matter what he said she doubted flirting with this form particularly aroused or distracted him. Nothing she could do would help.

Krinn closed his eyes for a moment as he leaned slightly back in his chair, gripping that handkerchief tightly. Then those eyes opened and he stood and stretched, bones popping and creaking, but it was a good stretch. He rolled his shoulders. "A room would be a good idea." Though it wouldn't keep him safe from Jack if the cat really wanted to get in at him. Speaking of which, he had fully expected that cat to come rushing in at him by now. That other woman must mean a great deal to Jack for him to be so distracted. Krinn yawned lightly. Still he knew he wouldn't get much sleep in this place. The wolf moved closer to Di and held the handkerchief against her hand. "Thank you." Simple words that encompassed a lot, he wasn't simply thanking her for the handkerchief, he was thanking her for being kind enough to listen to him.

Jack clung to Mei fiercely. In his heart he knew she was right, he had known that all along, but it was so much easier to blame the wolf. So much easier to be angry at the wolf, to vent that anger on the wolf. "...If I were faster..If I were a cheetah.." His ears twitched slightly and his tail seemed to lash angrily behind him for a moment, then he was nuzzling her again. Taking comfort in her presence and just being able to hold her against him. Even in that form, Mei was still Mei and he loved Mei. "Does this mean you won't let me beat him to a bloody pulp?" He asked that question with a pouty, slightly whiny voice. Like a child asking for something they knew they weren't allowed to have. He was sure it would make him feel so much better to beat on the wolf. It had done wonders for him the day it had happened, then the wolf had escaped before he could deal the final blow. His tongue slipped past his lips to lick gently along Mei's neck.

"It was my pleasure." She said with a laugh as she squeezed the hand nearest hers. She would then place her handkerchief back into a pocket, careful to fold it just right so no blood would get on her clothing. She took the last few sips of her tea and then slowly stood, her wolf like canine companion moving from her knee as if by some unspoken command. Once she had stood and swept her skirt into place she would reach out to take the man's hand. With a nod she began to lead him to the bartender, once outside the room she would pick up the scent of another. A girl this time but not the same as before. She smelled of the quiet night outside and the forest. She must have been traveling a bit.

"It wouldn't have mattered.... sometimes you just can't save people, you can only try." She said softly. When he asked about being 'allowed' to beat the other man she simply shook her head and sighed. She doubted any good would come of it. Before she could say much, however, he licked her neck and she simply shivered. It had been some time since she'd been touched too much, being she'd kept her word despite her flirtatious nature. She had told him once long ago that she wouldn't flirt or tease others like she did him, so she didn't. She saved that for him.... but it was natural that she would miss touch and flirtation and the touch of his tongue hardly helped. She looked over at him a moment in thought, wondering absently if it really was the same for him or if he was trying to make her feel better.

"I love you....you don't have to do things like that if you don't want to." She said quietly as she watched the nekojin. She loved him dearly, but if he couldn't ....he couldn't. She didn't want him to do anything he didn't want to. She would find a way to break the curse eventually, it was hardly the first one Emi had managed to cast even if it was among the best. She was unsure where Emi had gotten so much power that it could suppress the ancient dragon.....

"I didn't think you'd have this kind!" Cassidy chirped, her smile warm and happy as she sipped at her tea, sitting at the bar. This place really was a nice change of pace from heating up the old canteen she kept in her bag. She'd make a note to buy more so she could change it out.

Of course there was the matter of if she even desired to leave. There was magic in this place. She could feel it in her bones. It was an old spell and one she couldn't quite pinpoint. It was definitely no magic she's ever encountered. Such a peculiar place...she'd have to take a shard of wood back home with her. Maybe a brick or two...she chuckled to herself as she sipped at her tea, turning to glance a look at her bag. Good still there. Didn't want to lose it anytime soon.

He watched Di almost intensely. The way she moved, every movement seemed carefully calculated before she ever even made the first one. It reminded him of a vampire he had met once, but it didn't unnerve him. There was a subtle beauty about the movements, the graceful flow of them. Her companion seemed to know exactly what to do and how to behave without even being told, he was either well trained or far more than he seemed to be, most likely it was the latter. When Di reached out and took his hand he smiled softly at her and let her lead him to the bartender. His gaze danced over the room for a moment, finding only another guest and no sign of the nekojin and other woman. Perhaps that other woman was off calming Jack's anger? Krinn could only hope so, not for his own sake, but for Jack's, Krinn did not want to end up harming the misguided cat.

"Trying isn't good enough." He frowned, then nipped at her earlobe gently. "Seeing that wolf makes me so angry." He wriggled and shifted around some, getting a bit more comfortable beneath Mei, his arms keeping her firmly in place on his lap. His ears twitched and flicked lightly before drooping just the slightest bit. Jack was done thinking about Krinn and the past, at least for now. There was something far more important than any of that in his lap right now, he ran his tongue along her neck again. "Mei is Mei, and if I can't perform with my lower half while your stuck in this form, then I'll just use my mouth. A lot. Until your begging me to stop." Those ears had perked back up and he nipped lightly at her earlobe again. Just because he'd never been able to do it with a woman before, didn't mean Mei couldn't change that, maybe. If not, he would still love her. "I love Mei for Mei, not for Mei's body."

Di soon had a key from the bartender and the wolf man was checked in before she gave him his key. She didn't seem to notice the man watched her, then again maybe she just didn't care. It was clear from the way she skillfully maneuvered that she may lack sight but she did not lack awareness of her surroundings. Perhaps it was her therian senses, who knew? The dancer paused then, catching the comment of the girl. She glanced towards her and couldn't help but smile, her nose revealing the type of tea fairly quickly. It was a good type and made her inclined to like the girl as one of Di's favorite things was teas.

"You'll find the Inn has most tea's miss. The owner planted them herself I've been told and I hear she has a great mastery of all plants. She has not visited us in some time but her enchanted plants never cease to amaze all the time." She said softly, giving the woman a warm smile. She could tell from the lovely plants they held a hint of magic, making her inclined to think the vampire owner had been a druid in her former life or some similar thing. She heard the woman was blind like herself but knew little else having never met her. Even as she spoke, however, she held Krinn's hand as if she'd decided to protect him.

"Sometimes trying is all you can do..." She said softly, though there was something distant in it. She'd tried so desperately to save her own father and sister, her small 14 year old body trying to tug them desperately along. The dragon's fire out of control had made her unable to tap into his increased strength without making the fire stronger, so while her sister she had managed her father was just so heavy.... She'd tried until she nearly passed out from smoke inhalation, dragging her unconscious father but it had not been enough. She knew too well what it was like to know that trying was all you could do but the guild would follow you all the same. Still her dark thoughts were interrupted by a gasp as his tongue teased at her neck. She couldn't help but lean back into the touch, pushing away the memories with her usual matter of factness. She would not fret over what she could not change.

"I....Well... that mouth is deadly enough." She said teasingly, even as a shiver pulled down her spine again. She had realized how lonely she was when away from her lover until he touched her. It spread a heat over her that even the dragon could not compare to. She could only whimper softly at the nip, her body finally melting into his as it had so many times before. She had never been very good at resisting him, and the more time away from him the weaker she was to his touch. She tilted her head slightly, snuggling into his chest as she brushed her lips across his cheek.

"I love you... so much." She whispered softly as she continued to kiss along his cheek. She knew she wasn't being quite as teasing and bold as usual but in truth she was just so relieved. It had been a long time since she had felt so vulnerable, so afraid. Then again how long had it been since she'd given her heart to someone and not been rejected because of what she was... neither male or female but a bit of both even if her body took form of one or the other depending on its mood. Well normally did when not cursed to try and break up her happiness.
