Arista Zahrah Lucrece
*I am*
16
*I am unique*
Easily Excitable, Honest to a Fault, Tough, Impatient, Lazy
*In my past...*
Smack dab in the middle of a large family. Arista was born the third child of five siblings, and divorced parents. Her mother is a work-a-holic (She is a lawyer) and is never around, her father is married with two more children of his own, (which Arista doesn't count as her siblings). Her older brothers (Rigel and Altair) are in college, leaving Arista with the care of her younger siblings who are pretty independent beings themselves. Lyra and Vega are fraternal twins who are freshmen in high school. Arista's mother named all of her children after the stars in the sky. Arista has a tradition of having lunch or dinner with her father once a week, not because she has any love for him, but because she feels its her duty as his daughter. She never forgave him for cheating on their mother and leaving. She was only 8 when it happened and she and her older brothers were straddled with caring for the young twins and their mother who had a melt down around that time. She has had a tough childhood, but she doesn't let that reflect in her personality. She's somewhat of a social butterfly, always doing something and never stopping.
*I look like*

Ari
Lucrece
*I like*
Cooking, Baking, Bubble Baths, Music, Parties and People
*I hate*
Slowing down, School, Her Father, The Dark, Scary Movies
*You should also know*
Arista isn't too bright. She is always so busy that she never seems to have enough time to study or even to do her homework. She has been known to cram last minute... like, two minutes before a test.

J sat down on a bench and started waiting. He was waiting for his science partner to get there so they could begin talking about their project. J already didn't like his partner; she was talkative and appearently not that bright. J took out his head phones and cranked up the volume on his mp3 player. Leaning back on the bench he stared at the sky. "I hope she's not late."

Swimming, Bake Sale, Blood Drive, helping little old ladies cross the street… There was nothing Ari couldn’t do… except school. Her planner, which her mother had bought her a few months back was filled and bursting with papers, reminders and all sorts of notes she had for herself. Every page was filled with tiny notes ontop of notes. How she organized them was a mystery, how she handled it all was worse. Like today, She had to make sure her siblings had something to eat, so she went shopping, meant some friends, had some ice cream, went to the library to return books for her siblings, donated blood, took some cookies she baked for a “help the blind” bake sale, had swimming practice and went out of her way to help anyone who needed her help before running straight to the meeting place her science partner had decided on.
This girl did not drink coffee, but preferred tea, and neither of which she had consumed during the day. It was all energy from her inner determination to get things done. Normally, she wouldn’t even bother with projects for school, never penciling any time for herself to study or work, leaving everything on her partner. But the science teacher gave her a choice of summer school or to get an A. Summer was her busiest time and didn’t need to be stuck indoors studying. She hated it! So, naturally she made her choice and was now running as fast as she could in her three inch wedges. Her Milk-tea dyed colored hair was short and tied into two buns on the side of her head like panda ears. She wore a black jumper and a light cream colored turtleneck sweater. Her sleeves were pushed up above her elbows and her black leather purse hung off her elbow as she stopped in front of J, panting, a hand reaching out and grabbing the side of the bench he sat on.
“I’m… so… sorry… I was… held up….” She coughed a bit, trying to catch her breath as her body calmed down from having to move so much. She was sweating lightly, plopping beside him with a heavy sigh. She could hear his music coming from his headphones, her ears perking. He probably didn’t hear her. She turned towards him, lifting the piece covering his ear and shouted. “I’M SORRY I’M LATE!”

J sat losing himself in to the music. It was the relaxing sounds of smooth jazz and it suited the tranquil blue of the sky and the clouds slow crawl across. He tapped a finger on his black jeans in time with the music. He was having such a peaceful moment he began to hope that his partner would be late or better yet failed to show up.
No such luck however. Before long out of the corner of his eye he saw her charging towards him. In his opinion she looked completely harried. He rolled his eyes and decided to ignore her until she calmed down. He turned his music down just enough so he could hear her. He then proceeded to watch her from the corner of his eye.
When she yelled in his ear J sprang form the bench clutching at the side of his head. His face turned red with anger and he lost his usual calm. He ripped his headphones off and approached her getting far too close.
"What the hell is wrong with you? Who in their right mind yells in someone's ear? Are you trying to make me deaf? If I have any hearing loss so help you?" J said his voice quiet and angry. He hated noise and anything loud. He knew he was overreacting a little but still the girl should know better than to scream in a persons ear.

Ari leaned back a bit, her lips pursing forward as he came in extremely close as he was yelling. “Well Excuse me~ You were listening to your music rather loudly! Even I could here it. You could have been partially deaf for all I knew.” She crossed her arms and turned her face away with slight annoyance. She took a deep breath through her nose, held it for a count of five seconds before slowly exhaling. She cleared her throat and let her hands slowly fall to her lap. She turned towards her science partner, unsure of what to say next. That was not the best choice for an ice breaker but… She wrinkled her nose in thought.
“So… What are you planning to do for the science project?” She was making it quite clear she wouldn’t have anything to do with it. And that it was really all on him. “I mean… “we”” She corrected herself, but knew she didn’t meant what she had said. “I have a really busy schedule, so… I don’t know how much of a help I’d be. So I leave you in charge, is that alright? ” She smiled as she stretched her legs forward, lifting them off the ground. Her hands cupped her knee caps as she kicked her legs playfully. She looked up at J from beneath her bangs that framed her face. Her hazel eyes were sincere.

J had been about to retaliate when she'd turned away from him. He would have continued but he noticed she was calming herself. J decided to do the same and willed himself calm. He gathered up his headphones and mp3 player and put them back into his backpack. When he was done J sat back down on the bench.
After she was done talking J sighed. Now he'd have to go and burst her bubble. "No that's not okay. You're going to carry your weight or I'm not doing anything. If you don't believe I'll let myself fail this assignment you're wrong. My grade will survive if I do." Even if she was being sincere J had a policy that he went by. He'd been in too many situations where he'd been stuck doing all the work while his partners did nothing and still shared his grade.
(( Don't worry about it. Your post isn't short. I'm actually okay with any length of response. It's what's in a post that matters.))

She would actually need to do work this time? What was this?! She laughed like he was kidding. “You’re funny ..uh… Oh! I’m sorry, I don’t remember your name… What was it again? You can call me Ari.” She said quickly. She spoke fast, her words almost becoming long spaceless sentences. She brushed some stray hair away from her cheek. She reached into her bag, pulling out a leather bound planner. She flipped it open, humming the song J had been listening to as she thumbed through to that week. “The only problem with this is… I don’t have any time to work on this project. I’m areally busy person. This week I have a few fundraisers, sports practice, play practice, and I have work and oh… I have to pick up young brother and sister from their own things.” She said as she moved sticky notes and papers out of the way.
“Just no time for this silly school project. So please, do whatever you want. You can pretty much say I didn’t help much, but at least write up what I need to say for the presentation.” She smiled and shrugged her shoulders. “Is that alright?” She didn’t care what the answer would be, it was essentially a ‘It’s all on you, and not on me’ sort of deal in her mind. She shut the planner and got up quickly, nearly hopping onto her feet. She giggled and tucked her planner back into her leather bag. She pulled out her phone just as a ringtone went off. “I’d love to stay and chat further, but I really should be off. I have to cook dinner tonight, so I must be off now.” She started to walk away with a little bounce, giving J very little time to react. He could, if he wanted to, run up and grab her and stop her. She tucked her phone away, stopping a second to fish out headphones so that she could listen to her music on her way to the grocery store then bus stop to head home.

J scowled and didn't bother try telling her his name as she didn't stop to let him. He took out his PDA and put her name in under science partner. When she pulled out her day planner J's eyes widen. It was in total chaos; no wonder her life was a mess. J rolled his eyes and crossed his arms as she ran of a list of her activities. It wasn't his fault she bit off more than she could chew and it was insulting that she seemed to assume that he had nothing planned himself that might not allow for doing the project alone.
He glared at her as she basically decided by herself that everything was settled. Then before J could finally answer her, her phone rang and she left. Not feeling like running after her or yelling J put his PDA away and took out his phone. "Call science partner." He put the phone to his ear and llistened to it ring. When she answered he began his part of the conversation.
"No I am not joking. My name is James Quinn but you may call me J. I don't care if you're really busy. I have a busy life as well. I'm not doing extra work so you can juggle your extra curriculars. And since it's such a silly school project then maybe you won't mind failling it. Saying you didn't much help me doesn't amount to Jack since you'd still be getting credit and I am most definately not writing your part of the presentaton either. So no it is not alright. That is unless you're willing to get a zero." J spoke evenly and didn['t allow her to interupt him.
When he was done he closed his phone with a snap, hanging up. He ploped back down on the bench and glared at her. If she had anything to say then she'd have to come back and have a proper conversation with him.

Ari stopped mid putting her headphones in her ear. She paused as she remembered that if she received a zero, she would fail the class and have to take summer classes to make up for it. Her face fell as it sunk in that she would actually need to do something. But why? No one had ever disagreed to this arrangement before! She turned to face J, slamming her hands on her hips, her posture became straight and her legs apart. She glared at J in return. “That’s not fair!” Sure, what she was asking him to do was truly more unfair then him asking her to pick up the slack. “I’ll have you know that no one has ever disagreed. I’ll most likely bring the grade down either way, so just do it and let me slap my name on it!”
Ari stomped over towards J. “You don’t need somebody like me, some failure to ruin your project. So just do it!” She knew she wasn’t very good at school. It wasn’t that she wasn’t smart, she couldn’t give a damn about it. She didn’t care about school and knew she had no future, not at this moment. She didn’t believe in herself enough to believe she was capable of it. She just wanted to fill her time with movement, with running around for other people. She didn’t want to sit and study, she didn’t want any of that. “Besides, you’re like the smartest kid in our class. Do you really need my help?”

J's blood boiled. He stood up arms still crossed. She was angry at him as if he was the one in the wrong. "Listen, Ari. It's perfectly fair and have you ever considered that the reason no one has ever told you no is because you never gave them a chance to say anything? Maybe they let you steamroll all over them, but I won't. I also don't care how stupid you are I don't have time to do homework for two. Do I need you ? No I'd rather have anyone else in the class, but I didn't have the choice." J practically hissed at her.
He grabbed his bag and turned to leave. " I'll give you a chance to clear your schedule and make room for the project by tomorow night. If not we'll fail it." J said over his shoulder. He was done with her for the day. Taking out his mp3 player and headphones he began walking away. J didn't take more than few steps before tripping. Stopping himself from falling over looked back to see what exactly he'd caught his foot on. It was an ornate box slightly hidden in the grass. J picked it up only for the lid to fall open and a broken song to trill.

Cancel her plans? CANCEL?! Who did he think she was? She had never cancelled her plans before in her life! She wasn’t about to start now for some stuck up smarty pants. But… a zero! He was risking a zero himself… Decisions, decisions. She was conflicted, already running late in her mind but… Everything was jumbling, time was slipping from her. She found herself somewhat lost and confused. Her fists balled and she gritted her teeth tightly before stomping her right foot. She took a deep breath, her eyes narrowing. This was not fair! Why couldn’t he understand that it was far too much trouble for her? Why was it not comprehendible. “Wait a minute, J!”
She stomped up behind him, putting a hand on his shoulder and forcing him to turn and face her. “Listen J, it would be suicidal for you to let yourself get a zero! Think about it! I mean sure, your grades are good and a zero here won’t do much but possible lower your grade to a minus, but are you willing to take that minus?” She was trying to convince him, but it was obvious she was failing. Her eyes glanced down at what was in his hands. She leaned towards it. “What is that? It’s… kinda pretty…” She commented, her own anger subsiding. She could change her moods so quickly, and to be honest, the broken music box was far more interesting than what he had to say, unless he was going to agree with her. But they both knew that one had to cave in, and it seemed to be leaning in his favor, despite her verbal disapproval.

J shrugged her off his shoulder stepped away from her scowling. He hated being touched. His scowl deepened as she tried in vain to convince him to do the work. He was about to lash out at her when she noticed the musicbox. J nearly laughed at how easily she'd been distracted.
Sighing J shoved the box into her hands. He didn't want it , and she seemed more interested in it than he was. J brushed his hair back over his shoulder. "Just so you know how little this assignment means to me and my grade; my percentage in the class is 125.4. I've done all the extra credit so far and then I tacked on my own extra work. I've also aced all the assignments. If I get a zero on this I'll most likely get a 99%. Which is still an A plus. So what I said still stands."
As J spoke the music got worse and worse until it was just the screech of gears. J wrinkled his nose in disgust and reached out to shut the lid to stop the horrendous sound. When his hand touched the box J felt as if the world spun around him.

He pushed the broken music box in her hands. She examined it, turning it over in her hands. What a curious object it was, rather old and… what had it been doing here? She was puzzled, so puzzled she almost didn’t hear what J had said. She pouted a bit, wishing she had grades like that. But she didn’t, but oh boy did she wish. In her heart she wished she was as smart as J, she wished she didn’t have to hide like she was doing with all of her busy work. She sighed as she put her hand on the lid, about ready to shut it. She opened her mouth to say something, but found it hard to speak as her head became light and her vision fuzzy. She crouched low, sitting on her knees, the music box was set on the floor as she covered her eyes. She moaned softly.
She reached back into her bag with her free hand, searching for something, searching for a container. She carried Excedrin for headaches, she got them occasionally and they could get pretty bad. Her body felt heavy and numb suddenly as she felt like she was leaving it. For some reason she felt herself lifted out and her body fall, even though physically she was still in a sitting position. “J?” His name escaped her lips just as she felt like she was no longer in her own body. It was such a strange feeling, like she was sleeping but she knew she was fully awake.
All the while the music from the broken box played. The volume had grown and intensified, the sounds of the gears ground into her and it was like the song had suffocated her. Then just as suddenly, everything stopped, Ari opened her eyes, blinking a few times as she regained her vision. She scratched the back of her neck and shook her head. Hadn’t she been sitting? When did she stand up? She looked around, highly confused. “Uhh… J?” She looked down, her eyes widening. She jumped back, emitting a loud scream as she tripped over herself and fell. She was staring at her own body, HER OWN SEATED BODY. She looked at her hands, they were nothing like her own. She continued to scream, unable to say anything else.

J mentally braced himself as the wierd feelings took over. He tracked the feelings as best he could from past experiances. There was the heavy and numb sensation of the soul becoming detached from the body. Then came the awkward feeling of leaving the body. As his soul was pulled sidways and downwards he could faintly hear his name being called. He felt his soul squeeze itself into another body and gasped. The whole time the music box played it's difuntioning tune as if trying to grind it into his very being.
When everything settled J cursed mentally as he realized he'd come across an enchanted object. Then he gripped his head. Whatever body he was in it had a major headache. Opened his eyes to see himself start to scream. He immediately clapped his hands around his ears and felt the head ache increase.
J got up and nearly fell. He looked down at his feet to find that he was wearing wedges; Ari's shoes. J cursed mentally again as he realized just who it was he swapped with. Kicking of the burdansome shoes J cautiously approached his body. When close enough he grabbed his shoulders and gave them a good shake. "Ari calm down and relax. It's me, J." J said this with the calm gentlness one might use for a scared child.

Arista’s eyes were shut tight, tears came flowing down the sides of her cheeks. It was all a bad headache, maybe she passed out from her headache and this was actually all a bad dream. But it didn’t help when she could heard her own voice responding to her. It wasn’t what she would have been saying to herself, not at all, it was rather her own voice telling herself to calm down. Was that what she sounded like? She stopped screaming, covering her mouth before slowly opening her eyes… this was a dream she was going to wake up from. “Relax. It’s me, J.” RELAX HER BUTT! She pushed him back quickly and pointed accusingly at him. “But You’re NOT J! YOU’RE ME!” She dropped her head indefeat, crying loudly. She repeated “this is a dream, not reality” over and over like some wizard of oz type mantra.
She couldn’t figure out how J could be so calm, he was in her body! HER BODY!! She sprang forward onto her knees, “YOU PERVERT!! THIS IS ALL OF YOUR FAULT ISN’T IT?” She didn’t know who to blame, but it certainly wasn’t her fault. How could anyone remain so calm in this situation? Someone had to explain this to her. “Change us back! I DON’T WANT TO BE A BOY! Least of all, YOU!” She balled her fists up and pounded them into her thighs. Why was she in a boy’s body? It was a plot to some weird movie or something. Arista pouted, people walking by certainly found it quite a scene to watch.

J fell backwards from Arista's push. He fell flat on her bottom and it hurt a lot. J watched as his body went into hysterics. J could only imagine what it looked like to outsiders. To onlookers he'd pushed a girl over, called her a pervert, and screamed about how he didn't want to be boy. This had to stop before anymore damage to his image was done.
"Alright Ari. I know this is confusing but you need to stop yelling. You are causing a scene. We need to go somewhere private and sort this thing out. If we go to my house we can start looking for ways to fix this." J grabbed his stuff and held it up for her. "Here you'll carry my stuff and I'll carry your's. No one can know that something's wrong. Besides they won't believe us."

She still didn’t understand how J could be as calm and collected as he was. He must have had a hand in this! There was nothing right about this at all. The tears blurred her vision, but she did as he said and kept quiet now. She took J’s bag in her hand, staring at it like some foreign creature, she didn’t know how she was supposed to act or respond to all of this. “Why did this have to happen? Why now? ” She muttered softly, sniffling and wiping the tears quickly away with the back of her free hand. She tossed the bag over her shoulder as her head dropped with a melancholic sigh. She tried to hide the tears that were fighting against her weak will to fall.
J was right… who would believe they switched? She was just going to hope it was a bad dream. That the headache had knocked her out.. This really couldn’t be her reality, but a reality that someone else made up. Only something like this could happen in dreams. She wanted to wake up soon. She followed in defeat, her head hung low, her body hunched forward. It was weird to be in J’s body. Everything was different and so unfamiliar to her. A few times she almost walked into a mailbox and traffic. J was the only one of the two able to function properly.

J shrugged at her questions, he really couldn't give her an answer that would satisfy. He then went over and picked up her bag and shoes. The thought of walking barefoot throught he streets didn't sit well with him but he had no other choice. Grabbing his own hand with Ari's J led her through the streets. She was a total mess, walking dangerously down the street.
"Alright we're here at my place okay? We're going up to my room so please try not to make any noise. My dad's home and he dosen't need any distractions." J turned and reached into his bag that she was holding. Pulling out his key he opened the front door. Upon entering he turned to a key pad and dialed in a code before locking the door behind him. Grabbing his own hand again he ushered Ari upstairs.

She gripped the familiar and all together, unfamiliar hand of hers. Had her hands always been so soft? So warm? She was trembling again. It was a surreal moment. It was made ever more supernatural when they approached J’s home – her home. She watched him fish his key out and enter a code in order to unlock the door. She wasn’t going to say anything anyways, so why would she be loud? Her throat was sore from screaming earlier. “Don’t you mean… my dad?” She asked meekly. She was in his body after all, so wouldn’t that make this unknown man her father and not J’s at this moment?
Ari’s feet dragged up the stairs, stumbling over themselves as J pulled her in a direction. Was it his room? This was kind of embarrassing in her mind. Not like she had a choice, but… she had never been alone in a room with a guy before. HECK! She had never been INSIDE a male’s body. This brought a whole new meaning to stepping into someone’s shoes and walking a mile. She took a deep, shakey breath. “[color=dimgrey]What are you doing?[/colror]” She asked J as they entered his room. She stood in the doorway, her eys looking around. This was his room? By extension, this was her room too now.

J dropped the bags on the floor and motioned for Ari to sit in a chair. He then went through a door in the side of the room. When he returned he had a leather bound book in hand. "Alright I'm going to explain somethings. I don't know for sure how we switched bodies but I have a theory that it was the music. I'm going to look through this book and see if the music box is in here." J said flipping frantically through the volume eyes skimming the pages.
When J looked up at her concern and nervousness was evident on her face. "I don't know when or if we can switch back, so there are going to be some awkward moments. Like for instence we're both going to have to use the bathroom at some point." J felt her cheeks warm and knew the body he was occupaying was blushing something he stopped his old one from doing.

Arista followed J’s motioning, it was such an out of body experience as she watched her own manicured hands motioning herself to a seat. She took it and drew J’s knees into her chest. These were not her legs, nor were the smell of his clothes like her own. She didn’t wear copious amounts of perfume but she had a lingering scent on her clothes and skin… Oh how she wished she smelled like that right now. It always soothed her, that’s why she cloaked herself in it. It was a strange rose scent. It wasn’t over powering like the smell of roses can be, it was a very subtle smell, almost like the smell of vanilla that girls often wear. Hers was sultry and warming and in a way, very sweet. It was her own signature scent that no other could ever wear or even create. One of her older brothers actually hand made it for her as a gift when he was trying to impress a girl and Arista was the test subject. The girl rejected him and he ended up giving the perfume to Arista. Every year, he makes a her a new bottle, and it takes her a full year to use it up.
She lifted her head in time to see herself return to the room. She looked up from her black hair, finding the pony tail it was confined in tiring. She reached back and tugged at the hair band until J’s black hair fell around his face. She ran fingers through it wildly, not noticing the shift in expressions on her own face as J tried to find an answeer or a solution. “… I didn’t think about that.” She bit the side of her borrowed thumb. What was she going to do? He was going to have to see her naked and vice versa! This wasn’t going to do… It was so improper, even in their current situations. She had given up and knew being irrational in this situation could only make things worse. “Bathroom wise… We’ll have to live with this. I promise not to look or anything… ” She said pretty embarrassed. He didn’t have to see anything but… She did.
“But… For bathing… I propose…” She lowered her head in embarrassment. How could she propose such a lude option? It was her only choice! She didn’t want some stranger, even if they were in her body, scrubbing her body down! “We’re going to have to shower together… But we’ll take turns.. I’ll blindfold you and wash my own body, then we switch. And one of us will always be wearing a towel or clothes or something.” She offered her idea somewhat quietly. It was far too embarrassing, and yet she could not feel the same warmth on her cheeks that she normally felt on her own.

J fidgetted a bit feeling very uncomfortable. Ari's hair kept falling into his face and it was getting irritating. Taking a band from out of a drawer he quickly tied it back. Now if he could only do something about that annoying smell? He hated perfumes. He found constant the distracting. J ploped down into his bed in a very unlady like manner with legs hanging over the edge wide apart.
He stared at his own body and cringed as Ari made tosseled his hair and then scrunched him into a very undignified position. He sighed they were going to have to teach each other their mannerisms. Other wise others would suspect that something was definately wrong. J then put that on the back burner and concidered Ari's suggestion.
"That's not going to work. First that solves the problem of us seeing but not feeling. As weird as everything is already I'd really rather not go through the experience of feeling my own body wash me down while I'm in a girl's." J made a face at the thought. "Second we don't live together. When the bathing takes place will be at two different places. Unless you can stay over here." J leaned forward and twiddled her thumbs.

Arista watched as her body fell against J’s bed in such an unlady like fashion. Without a moment’s pause, she hopped onto her feet and hurried over, grabbing her knees and forcibly pressing them together. “You’re a girl now! You don’t have things there so please keep them closed!” Her eyes were shut tight, even though she knew what color panties she was wearing, he didn’t need others to know. OH DEAR GOD! He would have to know. And he was an other in her mind. He then went on to reject her idea, which made her pout even more. He didn’t like the idea because he didn’t want to be washed down by his own body? SHE DIDN’T WANT TO SEE HIM NAKED! She’d rather put up with that weird feeling in order to keep her body sacred. She only ever wanted her future husband to see her naked, no one else!
She bit her lip, thinking. “I—I mean you, because you’re me… can use our class project as an excuse… besides, mother is never home. It’s not like she’d notice. You would just have to pick up my siblings and take them home and make them meals.” She explained as she sat back with her knees together like she was in a skirt. “I hate to say it… Maybe tonight, we should make it an all nighter. We really need to find a way to get out of this by sun up! That’s the only course of action I believe we should attempt to pursue.” She said.
She was waiting to hear her own voice reject her idea. So far, J had rejected all of them. She looked at one of his hands. “You need to clean your nails more often…” She commented.
