Me too! I just read an article about the special effects in Wired. It seems amazing.

I love all the Batman movies, especially the old sixties one. Exploding sharks are very cool :insane:

Tim Burton did direct Batman Returns. ;)

And that would be my favorite one. Actually, after Batman Returns I didn't see any of the others. Heh heh... The music was great (Danny Elfman w00t). The art was killer. Danny Devito was cool as the Penguin. And Michelle Pfeiffer kicked major ass as Catwoman. ... She was dreamy.

I was at the theater this past weekend seeing Get Smart when they ran The Dark Knight previews. I get goosebumps seeing Heath Leadger in the Joker costume. The face paint and the hair look like they're straight out of a horror film. Part of the fact for these goosebumps is that he's now deceased, with this new movie it's almost like he's back from the grave......clown style.

I want to see it and can't wait for it to come out. I'm hoping to see it a week or so after it comes out. ^_^ Mainly cause the movies are always so packed on the first day so I want to have a good seat and be able to enjoy it.
But I can't wait to see it!
The filming looks cool at least by the ads I saw on TV so far.

i am going to judge on trailers XD
i honestly do not like "Drunk Hobo Clown" that appears in the Trailers.

Joker is not a slob, he is a guy who cares Nothing about others, he knows what he is doing.
to him killing is something that is fun.

listening to this "New , Realistic" Joker speak in a guff tone and slobber all over, just doesnt work for me

>w< Totally watching the new one! I love the first two (Tim Burton ones), and the third one was alright-- something more family-oriented. It was the fourth one with Poison Ivy and Freeze that was an abomination to the franchise T_T

I think they're really overrated. I wasn't fond of them, really...

Half the hype over this new movie is just because Heath Ledger died. e___e;
Did anyone even care about Heath Ledger before he OD'd? xD

apparently he got a huge fanbase after Brokeback.

if the movie was doing some kind of Frank Miller route. i just dont dig it...
i like Miller (a lot) but his take on Batman/Joker is a fancreated take on the characters, practically a fanfiction. . the guy likes to do erotic, twisted, and dark stories. when it comes to his own creation its great, with others...hmm just a bit to 180 and OOC

so thats what the new Batman movies feel like. just Dark and Twisted to "fit the image".
the Batman series i picture is - Dark, Moody, Atmospheric, Adventurous, Laid back, Interesting, and Eye catching.

if it was just one thing all the time, it would be seriously boring.
what audience is the movie aiming for?!

Pumped doesn't even begin to describe it! I wake up every morning wishing it were July 18th. Is that weird? XD

It just looks so fantastically creepy and dark.. <33 Very reminiscent of the animated series if you ask me. The original batman movies were almost so stylized it was comical, not gothic-y enough. Heath Ledger looks.. *___* AMAZING as the Joker.

The first two Batman movies with Micheal Keaton were really good - the rest sucked badly!! If they could have kept Michael Keaton they would have been much better. But I hated Uma Thurman as Poison Ivy she was just way to skinny for that part.

Now the movies with Christian Bale are really good and I can't wait to see the new one. I just wish that the TomKat girl had played in it but the new actress looks pretty good from the previews.

If you're asking for what audience the movie is aiming for - - try - everybody. Everyone who's ever seen a movie. People who read and don't watch movies - ((yes there are some people like that!)) - Whoever - that is their audience.

They are in the buisness to make money. Okay - maybe it didn't start out that way. But have you looked in toy stores lately. Batman action figures, lunchboxes, shirt - for adults and kids, backpacks, shoes, necklaces, full costumes, crayons and coloring books, luggage.... whatever they can think of - they make something for it.

I am very excited for the movie and I liked HL - WAY before this clown thing... he doesn't even seem close to what he's done in any other film - at least in the previews of this movie. He's so darn cute in every other movie.
((By the by - the preview for the Watchmen is going to be showing for the Batman movie!))

Also - you - can't go into a movie expecting the comic book. You just can't. I also don't think they are trying to do the Frank Miller routine with this - - they are just trying to do - 'The Dark Knight' - Batman is suppose to be dark and I think they are trying to capture that. - I can't say I agree that they are making the Joker out to be a "drunk Hobo." But I have yet to watch the movie - I could still change my mind.
- If you watched the previews for Hellboy II they made that out to be WAY more ethereal than the movie actually was. - I don't like following the trailer *or* the reviews of the the critics.....

I enjoyed the first 2 Batman movies. The 3rd was so-so and the 4th was forgettable for me. The 5th movie Batman Begins I liked alot. The Dark Knight which comes out this Friday nationwide I am anxiously awaiting to see. I am hoping to get tickets to see it in Imax.

Okay, okay, so I just saw the Dark Knight.

And honestly, Ledger's performance really was stellar even though I went in expecting to hate it. He was utterly horrifying. It was great.

Although I'm really wondering where the MPAA got a PG-13 rating from. Despite having no nudity or language and the violence being all off-camera, I was thinking throughout the whole thing that the eight year old sitting next to me shouldn't be there. That movie was incredibly dark.
And I didn't even get to see the last ten minutes because the IMAX projector fucked up.

I just saw the Dark Knight last night (LOL) and I have to agree with Fabby. It was awesome, and I thought that all of the hype they'd been givig it was just that; hype. But Heath Ledger's performance was utterly creepy and even scary, which is a good thing I think.
The other actors did a good job too of course, but his performance sort of stood out the most.

Anyhow, as I was originally saying, I agree with Fabby about the rating. It's actually rated M15+ over here, but there were little kids in there with me. And I gotta say that if some parts were giving me, a sixteen year old, the heebi-jeebies, then wouldn't the little kids be near-wetting themselves?

Just wondering if the parents were thinking it through when they brought their kids.

ANYWHO, I loved the movie, usually sequels aren't all that good; but this one was as good, if not better, then Batman Begins. Definitely on my favourite movies for this year list.

Oh, I would definitely say it was better than Batman Begins. I wasn't all that fond of Batman Begins.

Obviously it was Heath's movie. He played the part of a completely unhinged maniac VERY convincingly, but Bale makes a perfect Bruce Wayne and I love whatshisface as Alfred. xD

I'm really looking forward to seeing it. I believe most of the showings tomorrow and the weekend are sold out, or will be soon. So I'm going to see it next weekend. I'm really looking forward to it.

@Fabby; Michael Caine plays Alfred Pennyworth. :)

I so want to watch the Dark Knight. ^^;
I just watched Batman Returns today on the internet, and I really enjoyed it. This new one is supposed to be even better. Aww... I'm dying to see it! D:

As for the older Batman movies - the only one I've watched is the 1997 Batman& Robin. ^^ I loved that one too though... mainly 'cause it's Batman.

Last edited by kleptomaniac; 07-19-2008 at 08:20 PM.. Reason: random word that I have no reason for it to be there.

I went to the midnight showing of the Dark Knight and I never wanted it to end.
It was amazing. Heath was absolutely great. He was dark and creepy but I couldn't help to find him funny sometimes too. He was the Joker and I just completely forgot it was Heath that I was watching.
I'll definately be seeing this movie more than once.
