Ever posted something and you think you actually lost gold? A bit counterproductive, I think!

It hasn't happened to me; however, I did read in the rules that if your post gets deleted you loose gold. And if you edit your post and end up shortening the post, you lose gold.

It's not really productive, but I can see where it stops the spam whores ^^

My friend thought it was really strange that Mene takes away gold for I guess, "spamming." I think it's actually a good way to focus more on topics than just "omg - gold, lol" like on other websites. (-Cough- Gaia)

Hm, that is a bit wierd, but then again I recall going into the book forum and there was this warning box up top. It said that lately they have been having trouble withcertain posts causng you to lose about 20 gold and they are sorry and trying to fix the problem as soon as possible. Or something along those lines..I duno, I've been reading quite a few things so I may have one or two wordings wrong. But atleast this should give you the general idea of what the warning said, I hope :)

It's not that you lose 20g of your gold count it's just when you make a post worth 20g that you don't get the 20g. It can be gained by altering your posts sometimes just by editing and saving you'll get it.. sometimes not but that's what that notice is about. 20g isn't subtracted from gold count.

But yes, if you edit your posts or if moderators edit/merge your posts if there's something rule breaking about them, you will lose gold earned by the text that has been removed.

It's not that weird because easy gold earning *gaia* makes no sense. It's to easy to earn gold on gaia. Menewsha makes it harder to earn gold so you can socialize with other people. *Sarcasm* It's fun to earn gold on Menewsha because the people in the forums are much nicer. The games are more fun too. I think it is weird because one time I edited my roleplay thread with a lot more stuff and I didn't gain any money... :rawrmayor: But I don't care. I'm okay right now. FOR RIGHT NOW!! MUAHAHAHAHAHAHA!!!!!! *Evil laughter time!!!! :squee:*

It is much easier to earn gold on gaia. Huh. No wonder I got bored of it. Maybe it was because it was TOO easy. I guess I wanted something more of a challenge.

Yeah, I like this system better. Rewarding you for longer, more thought out posts, while punishing you for spam... I mean, on some sites, gold is way too easy to acquire... where's the difficulty?

I find it a bit amusing that this thread started as a simple question about Menewsha, but turned into a Gaia rant. I like both systems for different reasons, and I think they accomplish different things.

And, no, I haven't had that happen to me yet, but I've not been here long, so it may happen in the future.

I remember the "remove daily chance" thread on Gaia. That always made me laugh. I thought that the Gaian monetary inflation was ridiculous.

I have not yet lost gold here, and as for the 20g thing, maybe that is because the responses for the word games are short and short posts are thought to be spam anywhere else?

Hasn't happened to me, but if you had mulitple windows open, it can look as if you lost gold.

That and I really only briefly skimmed through the rules about posting and the earning of gold.
From what I understand is though, the longer your post is , the more gold is earned.
That's what I like about Mene, though. Makes it challenging unlike -cough-Gaia-cough-

No, I've never thought that I lost gold on a post without actually knowing that I did. When a moderator deletes one of your posts, for whatever reason, you lose the gold from that post. You also lose gold when you shorten a post. It's all relative to your own actions, really.

I don't see how it's "counterproductive".

I'm not sure if that happened to me, but I'm going to keep a close eye on my gold now.
