Ok, yester day I saw the Phantom Of the Opera with my friend. It was my first time seeing a live opera, so naturally, I was very excited. The story plot was great, though sometimes I was a little hard to follow since it was told in high pitched singing voices. Costumes, songs, and dances were all excellent, though the lighting was rather dim. All in alll, it was worth seeing.

Here is what to disscuss:
*Your favorite play
*Why you like those plays
*Have you seen the Phantom of the Opera?
*What did you think of it?

I saw Cats. XD I really loved it.

The play I want to see, though, is Rosencrantz and Guildenstern are Dead.

I LOVE Sweeney Todd because of the recent movie XD. I know that some songs are missing, but I still love it >w<

I like the storyline and the songs. Some of them have this grim wit about them that really makes me laugh XD

*Have you seen the Phantom of the Opera?
No. I haven't. I really wish I could see it, but I have no time

*What did you think of it?
I haven't seen it, but I think it's good, from what I've heard >_<

As much as I love musicals like Phantom and Rent, I can't say I can really relate to the story that much. One of the best, possibly most underrated musical in history is The Sweet Smell of Success, a romantic, dramatic musical set in the 1950s and wrought with journalism and scandals. It's pretty amazing, since I am a writer for my school's newspaper and I basically am a muckraker.

I have seen Phantom of the Opera, and I LOVED it. I think it has to be my favorite. I have also seen Pirates Of Penzance and I loved that one as well. I would be delighted to go to the theater every weekend.

I don't have a favorite play but I like a lot of them. The high school in my town does one or two every year and they're always amazing. This year they did Les Miserables <33333
So, I liked Les Miserables because the plot overall is just amazing as well as the songs. For Spamalot, it was quite a funny musical and it brightened my day. Then there was Sweeney Todd, my high school performed that a looong time ago and it was amazing. Kind of dark for my age back then, I was like eightish so yeah...I also watched Scarlett Pimpernel but I don't remember what it was about, that was a year or two before I saw Sweeney Todd, also performed by the high school. Then there was Wicked, sure, it has a good plot and all, but I was very disappointed with the ending. The whole thing was about her life being tragic, yet they give her a happy ending! I prefer the book's ending by a whole lot. Phantom of the Opera, eh, it was okay, but I don't want to watch it anymore. I've watched it three times, and it's kind of boring to me now. I also watched Grease but that was back in 3rd grade, and it was performed by my middle school and they can't even compare to the high school's musicals. Oh, I also watched Seussical, it was amazing <3, performed two years ago by the high school. The main character, the cat in the hat, was played by Antoine, and everyone loves him. And it was just amazing. I know I've seen more musicals than that but I just can't remember them at this moment ><'

My favourite pay would have to be Pirates of Panzance (sp?).
It's really creative and funny. Plus it's got pirates so yeah an added bonus.
Other than that I have seen beauty and the Beast and a few ice shows but I was really young. Plus some school production which were great as well.
I wish I had seen Phantom of the Opera though, but it was only showing in Brisbane and I can't take any time off to go see it, so unfair.

The only ones I have seen are on tv but I guess they still count.. I was in plays in school.

But the ones I loved that I have seen on tv are.. Cry Baby, Moulin Rouge, and Sweeney Todd.

I loved all three. I have watched all three so many times I just about know all the lines.

There is a place in Tennessee where they put on plays each week. I keep saying the next time I will go but have not yet. I so want to but hubby does not like that sort of thing. I do not think my daughter would sit threw it either lol.

Oh, I absolutely love musicals! They're so much fun.
My favorite is Phantom of the Opera. It is too good! Haha, I got the songs stuck in my head afterwards, and couldn't get them out for a day or two. It was that good. I want to go watch that musical again. It was so sad though, well, kind of. The beginning and end kind of confused me though...
I also really enjoyed Rent. I loved when they sang duets. That one song, 625,600 minutes [or whatever the number is, lol, I forgot already!] is simply so adorable!

Oh wow.

I've seen a bunch in my lifetime.

Chicago, Cats, A Chorus Line, RENT, Wicked, Lion King, Fosse, Les Miserables, Sweeney Todd, West Side Story, The Sound of Music, The King and I, Kiss Me Kate (lovelovelove), Guys n Dolls, Camelot, Hello Dolly, The Music Man, Fiddler on the Roof, Cabaret, Peter Pan, Miss Saigon, Jesus Christ Superstar, Grease, Pippin, Annie, Hairspray, The Producers...

So yeah..

Currently, I'm obsessed with David Burnham as Fiyero in Wicked. (Saw him on Broadway, fell in love)

No, I have not seen Phantom though. I need to.

I've seen a few... Victor/Victoria, Fiddler on the Roof, Wicked, Hairspray, Annie, The Sound of Music, The Music Man, Grease, Rent, Lion King, Spring Awakening... a few more I can't remember right now. >.< I've also been in a couple. But out of all of them, I'm gonna have to say that Spring Awakening is my favorite just because the songs are perfect for my range. :) For all my recent auditions I've sung songs from Spring Awakening and I've aced them all. xD

Anything written by Shakespeare are my favorite plays. I can watch these done over and over and by a variety of actors. The movies aren't as good, but the original in a play setting are brilliant.

I like RENT, Phantom of the Opera, Jesus Christ Superstar, Avenue Q, Sound of Music, The Music Man, Hairspray, Chicago, A Chorus Line, Les Miserables, Grease. (I have a thing for Andrew Lloyd Webber musicals). I really like just about anything Anthony Rapp's in. Avenue Q is something I want to see live... thankfully its coming to Sacramento this fall.

I have a lot of favorite musicals.

Here's what I can remember off the top of my head: Wicked, Rent, Les Miserables, In the Heights, Aida, The Phantom of the Opera, Spring Awakening, Title of Show, Cats... And probably several others I can't recall. xP
Of those, I've only seen Wicked, Rent, Les Miserables, In the Heights, Phantom, and Spring Awakening live. Aida, Title of Show, and Cats I only started to like after I heard the soundtracks (or in Cats case, saw the DVD).

Wow, I forgot about Sweeney Todd. I'm an idiot, sorry about that.
I saw the 2001 Concert DVD with George Hearn, Patti Lupone, and Neil Patrick Harris. Freakin' loved it.

EDIT: These two probably don't count since they're web musicals, but I'm also a fan of A Very Potter Musical and Dr. Horrible's Sing-Along-Blog.

I've been a fan of the Phanton of the Opera for a very long time. Can't remember how old I was when I first heard the musical soundtrack. Maybe jr high age or a little younger. It's the reason why my younger brother pursuded singing while he was in college and the Music of the Night was the final song he sang in his last recital. So The Phantom is very near and dear to my heart. I also had the opportunity to see it some years ago and it was amazining seeing the music and still pictures I've seen for a good part of my life actually come to life.

My other favorites would be Miss Saigon which I only know by the soundtrack. The music especially is very emotional and heartbreaking.

Into the Woods I had actually seen this on PBS years ago. Being a fan of fairy tails and wacky tellings of them I was instantly in love!

But I'm also familar with many other musical either by the soundtrack or watching them on tv, dvd or music promotional video as in a mucic video for a musical haha. Gotta love them and have to thank my dad for that.
Fidler on the Roof- I like the music more than the play

Aspects of Love -am only familar with a few sounds and music videos of it. Absoluty love the music and the leads guys voice is so heartmeltingly dreamy

oh gosh there's a ton of other but I can't remember them all

I have many musicals that I love, Les Miserables, Pirates Of Penance (I think Thats how you spell it), The Mikado, RENT (Scene the move own the Broadway soundtrack and love to see it live), and Phantom Of The Opera and Jesus Christ Superstar. Why I like them well, Pirates and The Mikado my school put on and i was in them, and i just loved the comedy in it. and i grew up on Les Miserables so I just like it that the same with Superstar, i just grew up with them and i guess i just love them. Phantom Of The Opera has amazing story that I like to it and the songs are very catchy. And RENT is RENT the music and plot is the reason why i like so much.

I loved Phantom of the Opera! But I think my all-time favorite musical would have to be Chicago. I could watch that again and again. (And have xD)

I also really liked West Side Story and Jesus Christ, Superstar. The Producers has got to be one of my faves too.

Unlike what seems to be majority of people who watched it, I really didn't like RENT. The storyline was interesting, but it was a bit too dark and slow for my tastes, and I didn't like any of the songs.
