I used to be one of those people who enjoyed going to bed at a decent time and waking up around 8 to 9 o'clock so I could have a long productive day.

Ever since my senior year and starting college, I'm going to bed later and later. I used to try to be in bed before 11 - now it's midnight or later, and all this week it's been at about one when I finally decided to settle down. I know some people stay up a lot later but I really miss my "be in bed 11 and sleep a long time" routine.

So - how is your sleep schedule working out for you?
Any suggestions so I can break out of this going to bed at one? (In case you're wondering, it's usally me just messing around on the computer - like now - that keeps me up.)

on weekdays, (like when I have school [college]) it's 'be in bed by 11, asleep by 1'. on Weekends it's 'be in bed by 1, asleep by 2'. It takes me about an hour to fall asleep. I wake up every morning (weekend, or weekday) at 7 am. This schedule a has been working for me, for about a year and a half now.

No clue how to break the habit. I've never tried.

Hahahaa....once you go to college, kiss your sleep schedule goodbye.

I too, like to wake up at 9 AM or 10 AM and fall asleep at 11 PM or midnight. I liked that I got enough sleep and had a long day. But ever since the end of my high school year and all through 3 years of college...stress took a toll on my sleeping schedule and I developed insomnia.

For YEARS I'd fall asleep at 2-3 AM and then wake up at 6 AM. I could no longer sleep for 6 hours or more, I was always kept awake at night because of depression or stress on college courses. Now I have developed hypersomnia.

College has been over for more than a month, and now my body just refuses to get less than 10 hours of sleep. I sleep between 10-13 hours a day, and take atleast 1 or 2 naps in between. I know this is because my body is catching up on all the sleep deprivation but it's ridiculous to find myself staying up at 2 AM and waking up at 3 PM.

Even if I go to bed at 11 PM, my body is hard-wired on all the late-night sleeps that I literally have my eyes open until 2 or 3 AM and don't feel sleepy until around that time. If I try to make myself fall asleep normally, I wake up very cranky and irritable as if I hadn't slept the whole week...sometimes I even get slight morning sickness!

College and the stresses of the real world destroys your sleep schedule, although it may not be permanent, the process to regaining your old sleeping schedule can be very nervewracking.

I'm also the kind of person who likes a good sleep routine, and I did the same thing when I was at university, too.
My problem wasn't the computer though, my problem was cheap midweek club nights. I'd only intend to go out to the pub for a drink or two... next thing I'd know, it'd be 4am. I have no self control.

My only solution was coffee. Lots and lots of it.

For a long time there I was going to bed at 11 every night...

Now that my boyfriend works until about 10:30 every night, I have been staying up late just to get in some time to talk to him.

Let me tell you... it's doing a number on my sleep pattern.

My sleep schedule is fine, except recently getting up at 7 to watch my baby brother till 5 pm is hard. Since my sister doesn't want to help. I come home exhausted and can't do college homework or clean the apartment. it has been just since Wednesday but still, I wish my sister would stop being selfish and want to help.
My college classes is only on Monday and Wednesday night, so it helps me. I can have all day to do my homework. I use to love getting up at 7 in the morning and sleep at 9 or 10 pm. I wake up feeling exhausted and that i haven't gotten any sleep. I guess it might be due to having to live on my own with my boyfriend and getting laid off my part time job. I can't find any jobs that want to help and i feel bad that he has to pay rent plus utilities. thank god we have a roommate. but i have been losing sleep at my change in my life. Living on my own, feeling like Im married with my boyfriend because we act like it and deal with issues that married couples deal with. Hopefully i can actually go back to my schedule of feeling relaxed with only having 6 or 8 hours of sleep and go through my day without being bored or tired.

I usually go to bed around 1:30-12, and end up waking at 6-7 for some odd reason. I'm always tired, so I've been trying to break the habit. And failing miserably.

My sleep schedule is all over the place. D:
But I can usually get to sleep around midnight. And then I wake up around 10am except on the two days that I have my 8am class {really, really bad scheduling chioce ;___;}. Some days I sleep earlier, some later. I'm really tired during the days too. DD: I suck at making good sleeping choices \:

My current sleep schedule: Go to sleep at 8am, wake up 3pm.
I hate it. I can't get any work done this way.
My preferred schedule: Go to sleep at 9pm, wake up 12:30am.
I had this and liked it, but it's delicate. If I get to bed to late, there is no point in sleeping, and then it gets thrown off.
I usually mess up my sleep schedule by lying in bed, intending not to sleep. I never go to sleep. Attempting to go to sleep keeps me up. If I fall asleep, I probably needed to be awake for something.
My intended sleep schedule at college was: Go to sleep at 2am, wake up 7am
It ended up being: go to sleep at 4am, wake up 9am
I found both to work fine there, but here I have a TV, and Angel reruns are on at 6am; X-files at 2am, late late show at 12:35am.

I don't like to sleep much.

I get to much sleep. So much I don't do any of my homework, no cleaning done. To much sleep can kill a person can't it? lol well sleep is good, but how much sleep does one need?

lol, I get hardly any sleep. It's 11pm by me, and I gotta be up at 7. I don't plan on going to bed for another 3-4 hours :) I have trouble sleeping though. Take me around an hour to fall asleep, and then I'm waking up every half hour >.<

It's once again midnight for me - I need to be up before 11 o'clock because I have to run an all-day event with my club tomorrow.

Ah, so I see there's a lot of college kids with poor sleeping schedules but no solutions. Haha, this is terrible... I wish I was one of those people who followed a time schedule but that's obviously not going to happen.

Maybe I can make it to bed before one tonight e_e

I have a solution (sort of) , but I don't know if it will work for you because I only know how I sleep. The solution is just to fall asleep at around the time you want/need to start sleeping (no matter how you get yourself to sleep) and set an alarm or something for the time you want to wake up. If you do this repeatedly, it becomes a habit, and you start sleeping like that automatically. The tough part is breaking your current sleep schedule. No matter how much you want to lapse back into it in the beginning, you can't let yourself.
Either do all that, or pull a double/triple all nighter once. That will screw with your sleep schedule but good.

I guess I've gotten to be an old lady. I go to bed at about 10:30 during the week, but stay up late on the weekend.....and watch PBS. That sounds lame but at least I'm staying up to watch Doctor Who and the horror movie that comes after instead of some weird news program.

A friend of mine, to get himself back on a decent sleep schedule, used to stay up all night and then all day and then go to bed at a decent time. He said that would regulate his sleep cycle and get his body to where it was tired at a decent time. Dunno if that helps, but ya never know!

My sleep schedule is just so messed up.
Basically, I will happily take twelve hours of sleep (or more) if I can get it, but this conflicts with the fact that I like to stay up really late. Usually I go to bed around 2:00 AM, later if it's a weekend. Then I have to get up around 7:00.. or 12:30, if it's Saturday :]

on weekdays i go to sleep at like midnight [unless i have a bitch project that causes me to stay up later] and i have to wake up at like 6:30 to go to class and on weekends i still go to sleep at midnight and i wake up at like 8:30 or 9:00 because the light from the window wakes me up... i used to sleep more in high school, but i found i can get by on less sleep and be perfectly fine so that's what i do now

@Seren, you feel tired because you are sleeping a little too much now. The max amount of sleep you shoudl get a night is 6 to 8 hours, which is still a bit much. 5-6 hours is the best amount of time that an adult should be sleeping. Of course this is different for children or teenagers. But the human body can function off 3 hours of sleep a night. You only sleep to recharge your brain and if you sleep less you get into REM quicker.
