I'm trying to teach myself to sing the fifth opening of Bleach, Rolling Days, in Japanese. So far, in two days, I have memorized one line and I'm working on memorizing the second. -.-; Anyone else feel my pain in trying to sing in a different language?

I don't feel your pain, because I look at the words and memorize them each time a new episode is out. 133 FTW xD The woman whom sings that is Yui and she has also had a few songs in some of Clamp's shows. The song of which you speak is really simple, just practice it while the song is playing during the opening and it'll become easier. I've memorized every bleach opening and artist/group up to date. I feels teh specialzz xD

I usually cheat and sing it with the lyrics a few times, then try to sing along by memory. By now I can do that with several songs, but it's still hard.

- I'm singing "Memories" by See-Saw. It's the opening for the fourth disc of .hack//Liminality (the stuff that comes with .hack//QUARANTINE). I'm able to sing it since I've been listening to it all day. 8D
But usually, I have to keep replaying the song and singing along. S'how I learned Bokura no LOVE STYLE, Sakura Kiss, Vanilla and some other songs. >] And ooh, D-Technolife from UVERworld.

Yes, sorta.
I usually listen to songs over and over, and memorize the sounds.
Then look up lyrics and see I was wrong.
//OR!//
I listen to the song while looking at the lyrics, and put it on repeat until I know it. xD

i don't really have trouble memorising the japanese words (as in the pronounciations).. maybe it's because i do a second language, chinese..
i think as long as i've heard the song a lot of times, it's not too bad remembering the lyrics (with the sheet of words in front of me of course!!)
but give me any european language, that may pose a problem i guess X'3
go over and over again.. it should get easier ^^

I haven't really had much of a problem with learning songs in Japanese, but that might be partially due to the fact that I'm learning the language and I have a lot of Japanese friends that like to confuse me by not speaking English at all. ^^;; So I guess maybe I'm more prone to realizing words and distinguishing different characters and stuff in the language more now than I used to. I remember a few years ago when I first started listening to Japanese music, it was all so new to me because there really aren't a lot of asians around here to begin with, and most of them are Chinese (not that I ever really see them... my town is really small and it's mostly white and black, basically... not many others) so I never really heard the language spoken before, besides anime every once in a while (but I usually read manga, I hardly ever watch Anime in Japanese... or at least that's how it was back then). So it took a while to get used to seeing so many different bands and hearing the language in the music and stuff... but I really loved it. I remember the first songs that I learned completely were three of Hyde's songs off his Roentgen album - Angel's Tale, Evergreen, and Shallow Sleep. I remember that was pretty hard, but it got a lot easier in the months after that.
Sorry for my rambling. ^^;

I've always felt embarrassed to try to sing in Japanese because I don't know the language and wouldn't have the slightest clue if I was singing with a ridiculous accent and saying all the words wrong or something ^^;;;.

I don't really have much trouble..but since I'm not fluent in Japanese or anything, sometimes I can't sing fast Japanese songs. xD

i've been trying on and off to learn various songs from the anime and live-action of NANA. it is hard to memorize songs from a different language. i'm not sure how popular the song is, but if you can find a translation for it, sometimes i feel it is easier to memorize the song if i understood what the song was talking about.
or if you were ever exposed to learning japanese... you can try translating the song... you'll be looking at the lyrics so much that you'll end up memorizing it...
(that's what i did with utada hikaru's "first love". i translated it 4-5 years ago... listened to it probably at most 5 times the last 2-3 years... but i still remember 90% of the lyrics. ^^; )

I don't have too much of a problem singing in Japanese. I don't listen to as much Japanese music as I used to, but even now some songs have cemented themselves in the back of my head, just like English ones.
I do look at romanji in the memorization process. I'm not fluent after all. xD
I'm not fluent in French, either, but I do know a couple songs. Same as Dragostea Din Tei.

:3 I love learning how to sing different songs in Japanese.
For me, I look at the lyrics once and sing along with the song (once) and I can get at least half of the song down. So...about two times with the lyrics and I'm good.
>_> I know quite a few songs. <3 It's fun.

I can't relate, because I am the world's worst singer in every language.
I have a friend who's very shy and doesn't sing much, but when she sings in Japanese it's beautiful (she's Korean, maybe that matters?). In English she's still good, but not as great as in Japanese.

I don't really TRY to memorize songs really. I just listen to them and eventually I start to know parts of it. I pick up on them pretty quickly though but I have to sing with the singer when I sing alone, there are a lot of blank spots or wrong lyrics lol but I can sing most of some Gackt songs though my voice is definitely no where near as low as his

I tend to stay away from trying to learn the lyrics or how to sing songs in different languages. Mostly to save face, and not embarrass myself too badly, because I always have a feeling that I'm going to end up saying something completely wrong.

I usually look up the lyrics before I start learning the song. :) It usually depends on the song I suppose, but mostly they're relatively easy to remember. Singing is another thing though. If there's a song that's likely to have screaming or rapping in it, I don't choose to sing those songs. ^^;

I find it quite easy. Then again, i'm currently taking Japanese and memorize songs in foreign languages much fater than I do in English even. xD There are no true tips I can give you other than look up the lyrics and learn how to pronounce the syllables correctly through some vocal Japanese program or somthing like that. Because otherwise you'll just come out sounding really pathetic. D:

I used to, but now I have have a problem if it's really fast an illegible. my sister is trying to have me teach her now XD I don't speak much of it but I've learned how (the merits of practicing music and watching the shows in the original language)
And that is the ONLY Bleach song I do not know by heart XD Cause I skipped the Bount Arc <<;
