So, I was surfin' through the catalog, and I didn't see a thread for Atreyu, so I decided to make one. ^^

Personally, my favorite song by them has to be "Blow" from Lead Sails Paper Anchor. I like the lyrics and the music itself is quite awesome. I have always liked how the band would go from Alex's screamo-singing to Brandan's smooth voice.

So, anyone else like them? If so, favorite song/album? Things you like/dislike about em?

I used to be, like, their hugest fan ever. xD

I guess I got tired of their whole genre in general after awhile, though. And I think they seriously went downhill with Lead Sails; their previous three are all good, in their own way, but I find Lead Sails just so blah. :\

I dunno, I wasn't too fond of Suicide Notes because I could barely hear the lyrics, and I pay a lot of attention to lyrics. Lead Sails is my favorite when it comes to lyrical content, but I agree that the music wasn't as driving as some of their previous stuff. I liked it, but I liked the music from The Curse the best.

I do too, but the lyrics from Suicide Notes weren't that impressive anyway.
Definitely agree that The Curse is them at their best, though. I feel like they're sort of getting weaker as they get more mainstream, which really upsets me.

*shrug* I like it when bands try new things, and I'm okay with "mainstreaming" as long as they don't go so far as to sound like they're trying to become something they're completely not. For example, one of the songs on the new Backstreet Boys CD sounds like it belongs on a Chris Brown album rather than to them. Atreyu's sound hasn't strayed too far from their earlier stuff, so I'm okay with it. Any farther, and there might be a problem, at least for me.

One song on Suicide Notes had lyrics that I loved. "At least I know I'm A Sinner" ranks as one of my favorite sets of lyrics because the message behind it is something that I really endorse. The rest of them were sort of blah once I actually knew what they were.

I rather enjoy Atreyu.
I'm not a huge super fan (like my best friend) but I've got a few of the albums.

My favorite song would have to be Lipgloss and Black. No real reason behind it, I just like it.

Well, honestly I'm not either. ^^ I just wanted to see what other people thought about em since I do like them enough to get excited when they release new music.

Alright, maybe that came out the wrong way. xD
I don't have a problem with bands going mainstream, and I think it's good that bands change up their sound (who wants to listen to the same album being released again and again?) I just really don't like the direction they went in. To me, their new sound is not nearly as interesting.

@ Fabby: That's a valid point. I don't particularly like the direction certain other bands are going in either, but Atreyu has kept me happy so far.

Edit: Yesterday I picked up the latest CD Congregation of the Damned, and I'm very pleased with it. To me it sounds like they blended elements of Death Grip on Yesterday with Lead Sails Paper Anchor on this one. I really enjoy it a lot. Honestly though, the CD art is sorta creepy because the theme is supposed to be Zombism (?) and the accompanying art really dark. I like it, but it's still really creepy.
