There are multiple threads with contribution items, event items, Npc items etc ... Listed by year, that you may want to browse through.
If you wish to buy commons (clothing like shoes, skirts, pants etc) you can click the tab at the top of your screen that says shops and browse through them. Other then that, you can look through other peoples exchanges to get an idea of what you may like etc. Hope that helps a little. :)
