What a twisted world indeed, the girl ran full pelt through the woods, or as fast as she could, exhausted by the chase of her pursuers. They had chased her for quite a distance, a day-long game of cat and mouse as she evaded them continuously, yet here she was, with her tormentors hot on her heels as sunlight splashed through the trees above, spattering her with tiny beams of light.
She looked over her shoulder in a mix of curiosity and horror, wondering here they were, she knew they were out there somewhere. But perhaps this foolish act of looking would be most costly as she tripped over a tree root with a yelp. It as too late to do so but out of instinct she covered her mouth while she fell, finding herself falling down a short cliff side, her body cracking down the rocky side once before she hit it again and rolled, next hitting the ground and rolling a little further away.
She lay prostrate for a while, that momentary fall having wracked her with pain and she raised her head, to look up at the cliff edge. It wouldn't be long before the demons chasing her would show. She sat up, her long violet hair flowing around her shoulders. Two loud thumps alerted her as to two demons that had been chasing her made themselves known.
Oddly enough there as a lack of fear in her eyes, she stared up at the two with what appeared to be an odd hopelessness, how could she warn these poor things that their existence as about to end? What an awful feeling.. They weren't even infected mortals.. These demons ere going to die.
She lowered her head, as though aware of the hopelessness of the situation. There as no hope indeed, not to make these demons change their ways before their inevitable fate.

The forest was quiet now, the shadows deeper and the sunlight brighter and Cain's run slowed to a quick trot. The sounds of fearful running and pants of desperate air had left his ear-shot. His eyes moved slowly about his surroundings as he continued forwards along the very narrow pathway.
He knew the path ended in a cliff before him, and still, no one could be seen. With a deep sigh, which came out to be heard as more of a growl, a thought came to his mind. 'The Bastards chased another off the cliff didn't they...More work.'
He lifted his hands slowly, crushing his knuckles against his palms with a sickening crack of the bones. With a gleam in his eyes, he jumped down towards the other three.
His feet hit the ground with a thud, landing behind the other two. His bright yellow eyes flashed, drawing his gun, the chain whipping around his wrist and tangling itself around. The Medallion on the end flashed in the sunlight, spinning before coming to a stop as he pressed the tip of the gun to the back of the head of the larger one "Back off...Or it'll be your brains splattered all over the ground in less than a second." He growled in a low voice, his eyes becoming shadowed by his hair as he tilted the gun slightly. His eyes moved to the girl, giving her a harsh look before focusing all his attention on the other two.

The girl raised her left hand, fingers catching several lengths of hair as she smoothed it back behind her ear. She watched the two beings encroach on her, the larger one with much heavier steps, the smaller one about to go in the lead at least until they were distracted by the sound of the unknown stranger's gun being cocked. Both stopped, the larger ones face turning into a scowl.
It was a long moment that passed as they nervously stood there, trying to deliberate what to do at least until the larger one yelled to the first,
"Kill that bitch, Clay!" He ordered, the smaller demon obeying and trying to run toward the girl, prepared to kill her as ordered.
The bigger one had resigned himself to this fate as he made a brave, but probably futile effort to swing his arm around, trying to knock their brave opponent aside, perhaps if they got lucky they'd kill both of them.
The girl stared at the situation as it unfolded, eyes looking in the direction of the lighter one who as closing in on her. She could already see how this as going to play out.

"I said back off!" Cain roared, his voice a deep and spine chilling growl. He dodged the mans futile attempt to block his gun, and swung a leg up, his foot slamming hard over the mans face, making him stumble back away from the other two.
Without even blinking, he jumped into the air, landing with another thud on the ground before the girl. He swiftly lifted his gun, the chain clinking as he barrel was pressed to his forehead. "I gave you a chance to listen." He growled, his finger clenched over the trigger. A loud bang echoed in the silent air, a bullet wedging into the mans forehead.
Blood splattered all around, layering the ground with it's dark color and filling the air with it's sickening yet familiar smell. The body stood, then stumbled and fell to the ground, covered in blood.
Cain looked up slowly, his eyes dark and full of anger as he looked to the other man. The arm holding the gun was at his side, splattered with the other mans blood.

She watched, almost unfazed, at least until the gunshot sounded and she flinched, holding her hands close to herself as if protecting herself, the loud sound didn't frighten her so much as she saw the body fall, eventually dissolving into pure energy, typical ending for a demon, their energy would float invisibly in the air, waiting to be absorbed by those whom could sense it.
Liliana had closed her eyes tight, the initial moment in which a demon soul vanished frightened her internally, almost made her sick, it as the ending of a life, a poor ending to a life that could have made good use of itself.
Eventually she opened her eyes to watch as the burlier man got up slowly, staring at his dead partner then the man who had so easily taken him down. He as obviously not going to win this fight, but he couldn't return, not as a failure.
Liliana screamed all of a sudden, why hadn't she seen this? The burly man gathered energy around his hand and placed it against the side of his head, and with a loud bang, aided by the splattering of his matter on the nearby tree, he blew his on head clean off, having given Cain one final passing grin while doing so.
Why did he have to do that? What could possibly possess him with enough fear to take his on life rather than fail? How could she not have seen it happening? She reasoned that the stronger force of this would-be hero perhaps blocked her senses. It didn't matter, either way she covered her mouth slightly, eyes welling up a little as she stared at the headless body which suddenly dissipated before her, also turning into raw, collectible energy.

Cain's expression stayed straight, his eyes still locked on the spot where the man once was. He hadn't moved, hadn't even blinked. His breathing was light, almost not at all to the point where he looked to be made of stone.
Time passed, maybe a minute or two. But in these few minutes, time seemed never ending as the air stayed silent and still.
As if coming to life, Cain easily slipped his gun back into it's holster which was strapped to his hip on his belt. The chain hung loosely from his hip, hanging down as the medallion slowly twirled in the air by his leg. With a quick flick, he switched the safety on.
Slowly, he turned his head, his eyes still holding that darkness as they turned to Liliana. His features, though rough at the moment, were very handsome now it the sunlight which was dimming.
Then, his lips moved as he asked her a simple question. "Are you alright?"
His voice was still harsh, but had the slightest bit of a concern in it as he looked down at the strange new girl.

Liliana barely responded, still seeming a little shocked and confused, her maroon eyes gazing at the invisible energies. Humans couldn't see it, but if they accidentally came across it, became saturated in it.. She eventually picked herself up, dusting off her clothes as she wandered to where the bodies had fallen, not even answering the mysterious stranger's question. She held her hands out and in that moment began concentrating her own energy, creating a small nexus, a vortex that began absorbing the nearby demon energy until it all filled a small globe that she picked out of the air in-between her gloved hands
She eventually turned to Cain, holding a small glowing red gem in her hand, no larger than a marble. As insubstantial as these lackey's powers were, there was more than enough in her hand to have helped so many people, saved so many innocents, she couldn't imagine leaving it here either, it would infect the surroundings, sooner or later a poor human would be infected or local wildlife corrupted.
She went over to her savior and offered up the marble of energy up to him,
"I-I'm fine." She stated timidly, hoping he would take the collected energy, in some ways as a gift, to show she definitely wasn't hostile, "Thank you.. Very much.."

Cain's eyes followed her every movement, not leaving her once. This wasn't out of fear, or caution. It was merely out of pure curiosity and possibly confusions. His body was still, ever so slightly tense from the few minutes before.
He watched with slight interest as she formed the fallen mens energy into the small gem it was now.
As she approached him, it dawned on her how much taller he actually was. The demon was easily over 6 foot, and possibly a little over 6'2" to 6'3".
His features stayed expressionless, looking down at her hand in which the gem laid.
The bloodied hand at his side lifted slowly, his long fingers gingerly plucking the gem from her palm and holding his before himself. His eyes moved from her own, to the gem, examining it, looking deep into the energy in which it held. It was as though he was looking into the souls in which the energy once came from.
His eyes then blinked, looking to her as he lowered the gem.
"Don't get into anymore trouble? Alright...?" He said in an dry tone, his eyes boring into her own with a dull yet slightly entrancing stare.

Liliana made something of a pleased face when he took the orb surprisingly glad that he did so. She found herself unable to be sure about him, in spite of her abilities, she couldn't predict anything about him. In some ways she was curious to find out why she couldn't predict his future. It seemed too unusual for her to ignore.
When he told her not to get in trouble any longer, she lowered her head, realizing how difficult such a task would be. Those demons weren't chasing her out of pure coincidence, she knew better, the only reason she'd evaded them for so long was because she could see their every movement, even see conversations they would hold with her, but it always ended in her death.
Fear gripped her heart all of a sudden and she moved forward, gripping his arm and looking up at him with her eyes, much closer now. She was much shorter, probably barely even touching on 5'2. A look of desperation was plastered on her face, but she spoke softly,
"Please.. I wont survive long on my own.. Dont leave me alone.." She pleaded, grip somewhat tight for some-one who'd taken such a fall, but perhaps it was just showing her desperation.

His whole body seemed to tense at her move. His hands clenched into lightly fists, his eyes widening a bit and looking down at her in silence.
Words had completely left him, his mind going blank, like the end of a heartbeat which is left with a dull buzz. The gem was held in his fist, which he clenched a bit closer.
He then tugged his arm away from her grasp, stepping a step closer to her. He ifted a hand, his fingers lightly gripping her chin/jaw as he tiled her face up toarwds his own to look right into her eyes.
He looked into her eyes, his own stern and hard. Searching, he was searching her. Searching the look in her eyes, the thoughts in her head, and the feelings inside her.
He then dropped his hand and took a single step back, eyes still on hers.
If you get in my way, you're gone." He said simply, crossing hbis arms in front of his chest in a lazy yet hard movement.

Liliana dared not move as his hang gripped at her jaw. She didn't struggle or try to escape, hands dropping to her sides as she stared back at him. She was exhausted, yet willful, filled with fear, varying levels of terror, yet barely any of it was directed at him, perhaps a small bit because she couldn't predict his actions and knew to fear what he could do, he was stronger, probably far faster, she had confidence in her magical power, but with barely any energy left to sustain herself she couldn't expend it at all, not that it would do her much good if he tried anything.
When he let go of her, mentioning that she should stay out of his way her face lit up again and she nodded, she'd make sure never to be a distraction or get in his way as he requested, but she wondered, would he really stay with her if her theory was correct? The men who had been chasing her may not even have been the last.
So in exactly the specifications of that request she quickly stepped over to make sure she was standing behind him a meter or so and placed her hands together in front of herself, lowering her head a little but, though looked over to him, she'd have to follow him because she didn't even know where she as anymore. However she realized something then,
"I'm.. I'm Liliana.. What is your name...?"

There was no doubt in his mind that he found this girl even the least bit strange. Her actions, her voice, and just the overall feeling her got from her made his mind whirl in thought.
He watched as she stepped behind him, how innocent she looked in comparison to him. As she stood behind him, his eyes moved to her own again, slowly lifting a questioning eyebrow at this strange position.
"Name's Cain. And you don't have to walk behind me, it's weird." He stated in a rather blunt and uncaring tone, turning and looking away as a hand slipped into his front pocket. He begun to slowly walk forwards till he was maybe 10 feet before her. He came to a slow stop, turning his head sideways to look at her.
With a small sigh, a small smile cracked the corners of his lips as he said. There's no need to be afraid of me, I don't bite."

Lilianna nodded to his name, though when he said she didn't have to talk behind him she made something of a half confused but curious face as she tried to keep up, the girl tilting her head a little then lowering her head,
"Under your stated conditions, I must keep out of your way." She lowered her head again, a bit further this time as she looked around her and sized the ground up, particularly the distance between herself and him, "I am keeping at an optimum distance based on my observations of your speed and required movement space if anything were to cause such a necessity as combat."
She looked at him more directly again, when he mentioned not to be afraid of him, a little bit of her seemed to find it a little worrying in itself, was there really no need to fear him? He as a bit gruff, and she couldn't tell what he was going to do next.. Perhaps her fear was stemming from this.
For a moment she hesitated, rubbing her hands together as she considered before closing the distance between herself and him so that she was more realistically close, still a little behind him on his left hand side,
"I-Is this okay-" she swallowed nervously, "Sir Cain..?"
Her head remained slightly lowered but she tilted her head so that she could look at up him, still nervous enough for it to be told, if he observed her close enough he could probably even see her shaking just a bit,
"Forgive me.. I'm not used to company.. I apologize for having a certain level of skepticism.. We are, after all.. Strangers to one another.."

Cain's arms fell to his side once more, one hand falling onto the butt of his gun by his hip. He stopped walking, turning to face her straight on for the first time.
His eyes were still harsh, but his expression had turned to one of sarcasm and dryness. "Listen, you don't have to act like this. I don't care where you walk, how close you are, or anything. I don't have any conditions. All I'm asking is IF someone else tries to kill you again, THEN you're to get out of my way, understand?" He told her, a slight growl in his voice as he looked down at her.
With that, he turned and begun to walk away down the path the two were on, once he was yet again far in front of her, he turned his head with a stop, meeting her eyes with another harsh look. "And I said my name was Cain, NOT Sir Cain, NOT Mr. Cain, JUST Cain...got it?" He growled, his brow furrowing into a slight glare back at her.

Liliana froze, fear plastered across her face again as once more the man got hostile, she'd obviously angered him and for a moment wondered how often she'd end up doing this as she cringed away from him, cowering a little as indicated by an uncomfortable stance, she was now affirming a little more fear for her new companion.
When he instructed her on calling him just Cain she was again feeling somewhat frightened, it seemed no matter what she did she was going to upset him, but at least he wasn't getting physically violent. She had to bite down on her tongue to keep herself quiet, she couldn't argue with him, if she did he may leave and she'd be left defenseless.
She decided to return to keeping her distance and lowered her eyes to the ground, fringe hiding most of her face. Perhaps it was best this way, he was still nearby, she knew he as fast so there shouldn't be anything to threaten her really. She was determined not to speak again for fear of angering him, but was also struggling not to cry considering how stressful the past day had been, this wasn't helping either.
She was tired, her body was hurting and she was riddled with fear for her life, not to mention her one chance of life was being considerably hostile in his own right. She realized asking him not to leave her alone was unreasonable, he probably hadn't expected to be looking after some helpless girl.
Liliana made sure to keep up with him, so long as he didn't abandon her she'd just have to let him have a go at her until he was satisfied.

Her sudden draw back grabbed his attention, and his eyes widened the slightest bit, blinking a select few times out of confusion and surprise. Had he really frightened her that much? To that extent? He knew he was in a bad mood, and stress had been biting at his mind the past couple of weeks, but he hadn't the slightest idea he was that angry.
Guess it had slipped his mind, he was rather tired.
Cain watched her for a moment, then lowered his head, his hair falling over his eyes as a hand lifted, fingers moving to his temples and rubbing gently. "Forgive me, Liliana. I didn't mean to snap." He suddenly said, feeling awkwardly embarrassed now as he turned to look away from the girl, a hand on the back of his neck now.
"I've been being followed, along with trying to find demons like the ones who had attacked you. So things have been rather hectic. Like I mentioned before, I didn't mean to snap..." He muttered, but loud enough for her to hear. Cain was never good at apologizing, he was never actually able to say that one little word. It always made him feel weak, or like he was giving into some greater good that he had never really been against, but never with at the same time.
Deciding that standing there wasn't the best, for the maybe 4th time, he started walking again. He wanted to get to the town, get something to eat, and sleep away his stress. Maybe then he could get some answers out of this girl without scaring the every living life out of her. He could try now, but he knew he'd have no such patience for it.

Liliana's head perked up a little when the sudden apology came out of Cain almost as quickly as his temper had flared. It was always that little hope she had inside that he had this kind of capacity, she was never one to believe in pure evil or pure good for that matter, in spite of constant evidence to support such a black and white existence, when some-one like Cain apologized in such a sincere manner it was either an anomaly or the truth.
The gray matter in between different beliefs.
Liliana's fear died down as a result of this apology, though she would doubtless still fear the temper; she didn't fear Cain so much, there were many hateful creatures out there to be afraid of and her new guardian wasn't one of them. Her body was thoroughly racked with the adrenaline of fear though, shaking involuntarily of her control. Who could really blame her after all this mess?
"I-it's alright.. You needn't apologize.." She stated quietly, though confident she was speaking loud enough to hear, her momentary fear to speak again cut short since his apology.
Liliana approached Cain again, having to once again pick up her pace to catch up to him, though stopped short a good few feet behind, carrying on walking but nearer this time. It was something of an invisible barrier in her mind that made her decide not to get too close again. She felt inclined to talk to someone she was standing close to but her talking had gotten her in enough trouble as it was.
Her eyes raised a little, not to Cain but to the sight of a few lines of chimney smoke ahead of them, poking out above the treeline, from what she could see she could estimate that they weren't very far at all, but kept the observation to herself, Cain probably already knew this himself.

Even as her face some-what brightened, or when her eyes moved to him, he didn't even spare her the sightest glance as he lead her down the pathway, always on the slight edge in case some other demon decided to try their luck against him.
He didn't have to look at her to be able to tell where she was, to be able to see the expression on her face, or the feelings coming off of her.
But, after some time, he did steal one quick glance over at her, looking her up and down as more of an examination, nothing more. 'There's something...different about this girl...VERY different.' He thought, a hand moving up to his lips as he walked, eyes squinting slightly in the sun and in thought.
Why couldn't he put his finger on it? He was usually so good at looking right through people, being able to see every fault in their being. But, she stumped him, every thing about her pushed his mind away from her own. This was definitely new to him.
But, despite the strange new feeling, he tossed those thoughts aside, now focusing on the smoke trails and small sounds from the town.
"I'll buy us rooms at the inn, since I noticed you're rather weak. Plus, I was planning on staying a night there on my way here." He suddenly said, lowering his hand to rest it on the butt of his holstered gun, the chain swinging back and forth from his strides, this causing the medallion to spin in circles, glittering in the light from the sun. "And the foods also on me, alright?" With that he stopped talking, glancing back at her for any type of notice that she heard him. Weather it be vocal, or just a wave of her hand.

The odd girl had taken to linking her fingers before herself in a more casual manner as she walked, if she only put her palms together she would almost have looked like she was praying but she was casting her gaze about nervously at the surroundings. Liliana as, in fact, scanning the area, using her inner eye to examine farther than the average human could possibly manage, but she couldn't see anything hostile.
She found herself unable to look beyond Cain however, and she couldn't even look into him at all. She made no further effort trying to fathom it, sooner or later she'd figure it out. One thing as for sure; Cain was a demon, there was no denying this. Those trained to sense the energies of existence knew the distinctions. Angels gave off what could only be described as a heavenly hum, a steady, relaxing tone. Mortals, mainly humans, on the other hand gave off a dull drone, the mournful sound of mortality for their lacking of longevity like Celestians, the Angels, or of Netherkind, the Demons. As for Demons; if one concentrated enough they could hear that which was frequently referred to as Hells Whisper, a series of dark voices, the converted, dark energies offering the seducing words, the desire for power. Sometimes it was believed this Hells Whisper was the reason so many demon forces fought amongst themselves.
His voice broke her concentration all of a sudden and she acted with some surprise for a second before focusing on Cain directly. The Inn? Oh yes, sleep would certainly serve its function, in fact the very thought filled her with relief, sleep would be such a release that she could be grateful.
When he then added that he would also buy food, the very mention of the word made her mouth water all of a sudden, in spite of having a somewhat dry mouth, her eyes welled up a little a look of sorrowful joy on her face before she bowed her head in a thankful nod.
As they got closer to the town, however, Liliana seemed to get nervous again, shifting position so that sh was practically hiding behind Cain and staring past him in a childlike manner, scared of this unknown place, though hen she realized she was hiding behind Cain and that he probably wouldn't appreciate it she made half-dash behind one of the trees closest to its outskirts, hands flat on the bark, her head leaned out enough so most of her face could be seen, maroon eyes examining the small town.
With some concern on her face she looked over at Cain, as though looking for confirmation, or guidance of some kind, though again realized perhaps she was being a bit foolish and so cautiously made her way out from behind the tree, encroaching on the town nervously.

Again with the stopping? Please tell me...PLEASE tell me she won't always do this. We'll never get anywhere...
Cain had slowed his walking pace, tilting his head back in slight annoyance. He tilted his head from sick to side, then looked at her with a deep sigh.
"Lilana, there's nothing to be afraid of." He said, trying to gentle his voice, and possibly his eyes. It didn't sounds like he did, but she could tell he was at least trying a little bit.
An arm lifted in a hooking position. It was the type of gesture where a man asks a woman to take his arm. Weather it be for a special occasion or not. This gesture, was for protection on his part.
His other hand lifted, motioning for her to come back over from her safety of the tree, towards him once more.
"You're with me, so you're safe, no one's gonna try to hurt you."Cain added, the gentle tones in his voice finally coming forwards. He really did want to at least try for the time being, or so it seemed at the moment.
At least he wasn't yelling at her, or leaving her behind on this trail. Leaving her for even more people to hurt her, like the moronic men before.
As close to the town the two were, they could hear the now noises of the town folk and the businesses in which it held beyond the gates.

Liliana's eyes shifted over to Cain, a little worried again, but the offered arm made her feel welcome. She pondered approaching it, but eventually got up close to him and gently gripped her arms around his. She had that rabbit-in-the-lamp-lights look, staring at the Town as if totally mesmerized by it while it approached. Even up-close and touching, Liliana's energy seemed masked in a muffle of unknown noise.
The thought of Cain yelling at her again did occur when she realized her proximity to him, let alone the fact that she was touching him. Was it just a way to coax her in before he berated her again? No maybe not, offering his arm like that surely couldn't mean he'd do something so awful as to trick her.
The true horror in her heart was that she didn't know, she couldn't predict his movements, or what he would do or say. Having gotten so used to predicting the future around her, or of other individuals she was for once left unsure, uncertain of what would happen, which made Cain the most dangerous man she could be next to, though remembering that he did save her life and apologize for his temperament made her unrest calm down.
She was looking about at the environment of the town, gripping Cain's arm a little tighter when people encroached a little too close though relaxing again once they'd passed. Next to her demon companion she as beginning to feel oddly secure, gladly following him wherever he lead her but still curiously looking about.
As they approached what appeared to be the inn, Liliana couldn't help noticing a few flowerbeds outside of it, but the flowers seemed to be wilting, curious indeed, this wasn't the right season for flowers to start dying, something didn't seem right, the only thing that generally caused this kind of damage was a strong demon carelessly showcasing their power as they passed, but even that didn't make sense, a strong demon wouldn't let all this innocence and peace stand in this town, so perhaps it as something else.. But a gut feeling told her otherwise.

Liliana noticed, as the two entered the town, that if a person, or a small group stood in the way of the two, they often moved aside.
Most looking up at Cain with wide eyes, others not looking at all, in fact, they would turn their heads the other way.
Liliana also noticed, that at times when she would start to wonder, her curiosity taking the better of her, Cain would gently pull her back towards him, tossing her a brief glance.
The inside of the hotel was small, but homey at the same time. It did have a small tinge in the air of alcohol as the two made their way to the front desk.
People around the front room of the inn looked up from whatever they were doing, weather it be talking to someone, or flipping through a book or magazine.
Cain would stop and shoot them a glare before turning back to the clerk.
He shot a brief glance at Liliana, and slowly slipped his arm from her grasp, reaching into his pocket.
The Clerk looked up from a small booklet, raising an eyebrow at the two.
He was a large man, rather gruff, but well kept at the same time.
His deep brown eyes bore into Liliana's before slowly looking over to Cain.
"Welcome, how may I be of service?" The man asked in a deep voice, his facial hair muffling his voice to a dull mutter.
"Two rooms please."Cain answered, beginning to sort through his large sum of money to pay the man.
The inn keeper shook his head when Cain offered him the money. Confused, Cain drew his hand back.
"Sorry Buddy, we've only got one room at the moment, been a lot of travelers lately." He said, raising a brushy eyebrow at the two. Cain stood silent for a moment, then sighed, glancing at Liliana.
"Fine, one room. Here." He grumbled, handing the man the new correct amount of money. The inn keeper accepted it, fishing for the key. Once found, he layed it in Cain's hand, who gripped it in a tight fist, turning to leave.

Liliana wasn't too liable to wander too far, even if she did get distracted on occasion, but she had quickly retracted herself to standing closer to Cain, the occasional glance he gave her was beginning to reassure her again, he was looking out for her safety. Internally she wanted to get right up close and hug his torso, but that probably wouldn't impress him too much, probably make him react badly.
As they entered the hotel Liliana once again plastered herself to his arm, nervously hiding behind the offered limb and peeking out from behind it at the people here. The smell of alcohol burnt at her nose she'd never enjoyed, and people often did horrid or even out of character things while inebriate. With people staring, the girl felt a little threatened, worried, she could only imagine how these people were interpreting her and Cain's relationship.
Liliana didn't hold onto Cain's arm when he reclaimed it, again crossing her hands before herself as she observed the conversation. Before the innkeeper had even said it she was well aware that this situation would occur, but she wasn't sure how Cain would handle it. He seemed to take it fairly well, though looked somewhat irate, reasonably so. She couldn't imagine this as how he wanted it.
She couldn't help but feel a little uncomfortable again, realizing where she was and thinking about those wilted flowers outside. Her eyes, however, went to a cloaked man in the room, an empty pint of beer before him along with a cleaned plate. Something was wrong about that one. His energy appeared to be that of a human, that dull drone coming in clearly, but even with his face shadowed; she could see him staring at her. And so Liliana clung to Cain's other arm, averting her eyes from the cloaked man and waiting to follow her guardian wherever he beckoned.

Cain twirled the key chain around his index finger before noticing Liliana's sudden uncomfortable gestures. As she hid behind his arm once more, he looked down at her with a puzzled expression, then turned his head slightly as to see what she saw.
The figure immediately caught his eye. Liliana heard a low growl emit from the back of Cain's throat once he saw this figure.
His brow furrowed, then turned away, his eyes scanning the hallway the two were about to enter.
He then leaned his head down by Liliana's ear, glancing at her.
"Don't be frightened of him, just follow me." He whispered in a reassuring tone. Or as best as one could get when it came to his harsh voice.
He then took her hand, grasping it in his own and leading her down the lightly lit hallway. Their room was towards the end.
Cain inserted the key into the lock, which glowed slightly in the light of the hallway. The lock clicked open once he turned the key.
He pushed open the door, and hurriedly ushered her inside.
The door closed with a heavy "THUD!", the wood of the door rather thick and old some might say.
Cain turned to Lilana, leaning on the door with a blank expression.
He looked puzzled, like a question was chewing on his mind and he couldn't seem to form it into words.
Liliana could now see, in this light and with the demon facing her, how tired and worn he looked.
His skin seemed paler than it did outside, in which, truthfully, was normally tan. The dark circles under his eyes were now more noticeable, and with his head turned slightly against the door, as if listening, she could now see a single green hoop earing on the upper edge of his right ear.

Liliana followed Cain as instructed, eyes on that man as they left, going through the hall and to their assigned room. She could see the figure in her mind, following his actions for a while. Strangely enough it seemed in his future he would remain seated at the table for a long time, unaffected by herself or her demon companion.
Upon entering the bedroom she stood at the door with him, examining him in greater detail for the first time, she could see the tiredness in his eyes, he did look rather beaten,
"They're not coming.. But.. Uhmm.. Please don't move.." She stated, suddenly moving forward and slipping a hand softly about until she found where he'd stashed the marble of energy she'd created, next holding it against his chest.
Liliana's eyes glowed a brighter, yet still soft maroon glow, a strange, haunting look appearing on her face, almost soulless, the face of a born killer, eyes white open, face sullen and unsmiling. Various red lines appeared across her arm, glowing as a trail of runic energy and focusing at her palm where the crystal was secured. This was an unknown magic, but with a concept Cain would soon recognize.
The crystal cracked, shattering in several pieces before vanishing entirely, releasing the stored energy which Liliana focused, forcing the once wasted energy into Cain. Like a refreshing wave, a breath of much needed fresh air, the energy would absorb into him. In the long run it as insubstantial but the life-force of to demons now serving as expendable energy would act as a revitalization for him.
When she was done she backed off, seeming to stumble slightly but she caught herself on the foot of the bed they'd been given by the innkeeper. She was stood awkwardly for a small while, vulnerable as before, but this was proof that Liliana had considerable hidden powers of her own. What she displayed there as mana conversion, normally done naturally by demons, Cain had probably never witnessed some-one not only containing it as a solid object then gifting it upon those who needed it. Although she could have used it on herself, she knew she couldn't defend herself, the logical choice was to help him. As long as she was with him she would put what powers she had at his disposal.
