Veronica wore black mourning clothes, despite how her handband had died a year ago. It had been one of those arranged marriages that had become love. Veronica walked through the marketplace, buying what produce she needed. She bought a loaf of bread, some cheese, an apple, and a small cut of meat. She had fired some of her staff to avoid becoming bankrupt, so she did the shopping instead of one of her maids today. The woman hardly knew how to handle her late husband's finances... she dreaded hiring someone, however. Hiring someone meant trusting someone she barely knew. Someone who might embezzle the fortune her husband had worked hard to build.
The woman herself had brown hair pale skin, and bright green eyes. Her face still held the roundness of youth, as did her body, hidden by her mourning clothes. She wore some rouge and kohl to enhance her appearance by adding a redness to her lips and rimming her eyes.
