All seemed quiet and peaceful in the small but well-off town nestled between the mountains and the cliffs leading to the open sea. Children were laughing gaily and running around as most youngster's do. Mothers and other married women did chores and various jobs while discussing the lastest news from the borders on the other side of the mountains. Men were out fishing or mining. It seemed like an ordinary day.
Skirt hiked up, a young woman cursed the impractical garment as she hopped along the rocks, looking for the nets that were intended for capturing shellfish. Lobsters, clams, oysters, it didn't matter, they were a delacasy that could be sold to neighboring countries and cities for a decent price.
Little did she, or anyone else for that matter, know that there was something approaching. Coming from the sea that they regarded their home.
((how's this?))

(Very nice job of creating a setting and I love the pics, I like red heads lol)
The sea had been calm with a soft and gentle breeze flowing over the ocean and propelling the fearsome ship forward. Captain Genesis, also known as the Serpent King, and his ship the Hydra and its notorious flag were known all over the world at almost every major port. The Hydra hadn't been seen for months by anyone for some odd reason but it was now about to make itself known again. The crew had been running short of supplies and were in dire need of some food as well as other needs were aching to be satisfied.
Standing at the quarterdeck of the ship Genesis looked out at the unsuspecting town that was to be victim to his next raid before he set said again. "Alright men listen up! I want this to be a clean sweep, burn the town kill the men, don't harm any children or women is that understood?" The men all in unison replied, "Aye, Captain!" Nodding his head in satisfaction he turned back around to look out at the sea then at the port that was getting closer and closer by the minute. It would only be about three or four minutes now before they would arrive at the port and the city went down in flames...
(How was that for you madam?)

((Very very nice yourself. This is going to be fun. ^^ Yes, red hair is awesome. Black hair on a guy is also particularly endearing to me.))
One or two of the local fisherman looked on in wonder and curiousity as a faint shape in the nearby distance made itself visible. The day was calm, clear, and sunny, and all was at peace. Not yet noticing anything amiss, and the day giving off no ill omens of what was to come, the sailors and fishers continued their trade in content. Laughing and joking with fellow locals as they often did.
Cursing once more at her luck, Rhianwen looked longingly at the small cottage she resided in. There on the clothesline hung the just newly washed clothes, which included all of her britches, waiting to dry. Now, she was stuck in..a skirt! Ugh.
Skirts weren't horrible or bad per se, just in convenient and often times made with much lace, something she disliked.

(Did you take a look at the ship and flag? I'm just curious if you didn't it's alright )
It seemed as if the port workers had no idea who they were and with good reason, the vessel was not of pirate make it was quite usual being as it was a special design that Genesis had constructed himself so of course they would seem harmless. Until they raised their flag. The captain took a step forward as he walked to the portside of the ship, "Hoist the flag men!" It didn't take long for them to have the flag up and within two minutes after that they were docking at the port. Sitting on the bow of the ship the Serpent King called out, "Have fun men," and as soon as he said those words the men rushed off and began raiding the ship. Their captain watched on with a satisfied smile on his face as he pulled out his pistol to clean up anyone who tried to escape this way.

((I did, very awesome!))
The sudden appearance of a pirate flag and men brandishing weapons sent the townsfolk into a panic. Women and children ran for the cellars and secret tunnels as men and teenage boys scurried to hold off the attack until they themselves could retreat into the secret caves. The first of the targets, one of the ships, tried to pull away so no pirates could get on board. A warning bell chimed, signaling to all that they were under attack and that action was to be taken.
With a startled gasp, Rhianwen turned to face the sourse of the commotion, her blood running cold at the sight. Pirates...nothing more than viscious criminals! With a growl, the woman hiked up her skirt a bit, tying it higher with a sash before she reached behind her back. Drawing a small sword of her late father's, the female made her way towards the ship looming over the docks.
Rhianwen was no soldier or warrior. However, it would be a cold day in hell before she sat back and did nothing if the town she had recently made her home in was attacked! Heading straight for the source of the madness, the source of the problem, Rhianwen intended to make the captain withdraw himself and his men.

Genesis watched on as chaos took over the small port town. Men, women and children all were running around frantically and it was all because of a flag not because they were in a great deal of danger or anything. Looking at the crowds he watched as his men, there were only about 35 of them in total, slaughtered the men and teenage boys who tried to defend the town. The captain decided to make himself useful by launching himself onto the other ship and he shot every man down with his twin pistols, which were silver with gold outlines and designs, very elaborate weapons. Then leaping back over to his ship he once again settled down to watch the carnage.
To his surprise he noticed a redhead woman running through the muck with a sword drawn. He knew his men would ignore her as were their orders but he didn't know what he wanted to do about her. It was obvious that she was most likely headed to him but hopefully she wasn't foolish enough to challenge him, in a skirt at that. With interested emerald eyes, Genesis watched the woman carefully as she made her way through the streets that were culminating with bodies of dead men. The smile that glowed on his face was was beautiful as his pearly white teeth shined and he put away his pistols keeping both of his swords sheathed at his sides.
(That last pic is very pirate like... I think it will fit lol)

The smell of fresh spilled blood, the sight of men being murdered, the screams and cries of terrified townspeople, all of it spurred Rhianwen on to a further enraged, determined mindset. Reaching the docks, the female's footsteps thudded along the wodden planks of the docks as she headed for the offending ship.
As the sun shone at the perfect angle, Rhianwen saw her foe, the captain. His smile ignited a fury in her she had rarely felt before. How could this be so amusing to someone?! Desperately wishing to cut the smirk off his face, the halfling snarled at him. Finding a rope nearby, one used to hold the fish and crab traps, Rhianwen twirled it in the air, throwing it so it wound around the mast of the pirate ship with a flick of her wrist.
Pullung herself up, Rhianwen took a deep breath and swung herself onto the vessel the captain commanded, landing with a thud not 2 feet from him. "Ready to die?"
((Hehe, yup, that's why I added it. She probably will be wearing something like that once she starts living on the ship.))

Genesis watched as she landed on his ship then looked back out at all the chaos going on in the town. The screams of terror and agony, the large number of corpses that laid on the ground then his smile faded. Without turning to look at the woman he asked, "Do you know who I am my lovely young maiden?" His voice was majestic and slightly deep, it also held a strong hint of authority behind it.
Looking out at the town his men had finished the slaughter and they were now gathering the supplies they would need for the next few months. He wondered if this woman was serious about wanting to duel him. She had to know she was no match for him no matter how hard she tried but he admired her for her courage and fortitude.
(Very appropriate)

"I know enough. You're a murderer, a good for nothing seawolf who preys on the weak and innoccent. And don't try the flattery, it doesn't work on me!" she spat, her soft alto voice thick with anger and loathing. "Now are you going to fight me like a man or will I have to show you the meaning of pain?" Rhianwen growled, careful to hide her fangs.
Holding her sword at the ready, the female reminded herself to only use human fighting methods. She believed in a fair fight as much as possible. "I'll make you whimper and beg like a whipped dog!" she declared, teal eyes narrowed as she glared into the man's green eyes.

He cracked a smile looking out at the town which was now beginning to burn then he stood to his feet, "Very well... I shall indulge your foolishness for a time." After which he drew one blade not feeling the need to draw both of his blades and faced her with a confident smirk on his face. He took a defensive stance not wanting to give away his tactics and readied himself for a bout that he percieved to be fairly short. Then remembering something he called out, "Oh and hollow threats are for bitches who have more bark than bite... Just thought I should let you know that..."

Flashing amber for a second, the teal eyes narrowed even more, a low hiss in her throat as the woman stood still for a moment. Then, just when it seemed she was chickening out, Rhianwen charged. Feigning to the right, she quickly switched to a downstrike and a fierce kick in the gut, her boot aiming to connect solidly with his diaphram. "Think me a bitch do you? Think me a weak little girl? I'll show you who's got more bark than bite!" snarled the enraged female. With this, she continued to strike, using her sword, feet, and any other part of her body and weapon. The maiden moved in a unending, undecipherable pattern, striking repeatedly so as not to give him an opening to attack or react.

Genesis smiled when he was kicked and said nothing in response to her verbal assault on him instead he weaved her attacks in a very unorthodox and almost inhuman way. He seemed to be able to bend more freely than a human should be able to but every movement was effortless and carefree. His emerald eyes flashed and his pupils grew into a slit like a serpents eyes for a few seconds before changing back to normal eyes. Then just as the red haired woman swung at him he caught her blade with his bare hand. Blood trickled down his arm yet a smile remained on his face as three cobras crawled from his sleeves down the blade of her sword.

Despite her efforts, this man wasn't slowing down at all! His smile infuriated her, he was practically mocking her with that perfect smile! With a cry of frustration, she lunged and aimed her blade in a thrust, only to be stopped. Stunned, she was about to jerk back when the cobras came out.
Rhianwen was a natural animal lover, and snakes didn't upset her at all. However, seeing them come from his sleeve and onto her sword, the girl's eyes grew wide and her concentration was shattered. "The hell?!?!?" she exclaimed, Letting go of the blade as one of the cobras wound around her upper arm.
Could he actually be a non human as well? Many species of non-human tended to be hunted, so it was rare to see one. But this man couldn't be..no, he was just a skilled magician or something, he had to be!

Seeing her jerk back Genesis finally wiped the smile from his face and threw her blade to the ground as he took a step forward and began to speak, "I thought I told you that you were all bark and no bite but lucky for you I have no interest in killing you." His eyes flashed again signalling a change and then the cobra stopped as it was about to bite the woman. Sheathing his blade he walked forward and allowed the snake to retreat back into his sleeve then grinning again he asked, "What's your name?" As he waited to get a response his men were already loading the ship and they had blocked off any escape route she may have had earlier. He figured she would pick this up sooner or later.

With a snarl, Rhianwen recovered a bit from her damaged pride, trying not to smirk. The sun offerred her a perfect defense. Hand on the wooden deck, she focused the shadow cast by the captain to bend to her will. Without a warning, the black shadow became a solid rope, coiling up his calves and binding him tight. Ignoring the returning crewmembers, the female finally allowed the smirk to grace her lips. "Screw...you..." she retorted, reaching for her blade as her shadow rope constricted around him.

Genesis allowed the shadow to constrict him willingly and allowed the woman to pick up her blade. All the while he stood there staring at her as his crew finished getting all the supplies and gold on board then the captain called out, "Set sail men!" All in unison the men all called back "Aye aye captain!" Then looking back at the woman he wondered if she really thought she had him caught and was in control of the situation still. Either way it went she wasn't and he was simply biding his time and enjoying her futile struggle with him. With a flash of his eyes he maneuvered his body free of his constraints then he walked over to the mast and leaned against it. "Come talk to me for a minute unless you'd like to be tossed overboard once we reach the middle of the ocean," he said to the woman. Then he again looked at her and asked, "Now will you grace me with your name? I find it very hard to talk to someone without at least knowing their name, no matter how long or short the chat, don't you agree milady?" His tone was sincere and his voice still as soothing as a calm sea breeze and as majestic as a king's should be.

The redhead glared at the man, utter distrust and loathing in her gaze as she growled low in her throat. She couldn't hide the surprise in her eyes or voice as he eluded her powerful hold. "H-How the hell are you doing that?!" Going over with her sword drawn, the female stopped, hearing him declare the ship's departure. "You arrogant pig, you have no right to keep me here, release me on shore at once!"
Fury and a mild, but very well surpressed sinsation of panic rushing through her senses, the female stood in front of the almost regal captain. "Rhianwen..!" she ground through clenched teeth. "Now let...me....go......." prounouncing each word slowly as though the man were a fool, Rhianwen clenched her fists and tried to calm herself down. If she lost self restraint and control, she wouldn't think things through and would be more likely to make a mistake. She wouldn't dare let the man make a fool out of her.

Ignoring the woman's first question he began, "Rhianwen... A wonderful name but would you mind if I called you Rhia? Your name is a bit longer than I would like to have to say on a regular basis." He would continue to be polite to the red head no matter how she responded to him and would eventually have to calm down since he had yet to raise his voice at her. Then he went on to answer the woman's most recent request, "I could let you go... but seeing as we are now out at sea, it would be a bit of a swim back to shore." He was obviously toying with the girls emotions seeing that this was not an ideal situation for her but he was thoroughly enjoying his self. Before she had a chance to respond the navigator came over and asked what their next course was and Gen replied, "Let's go where the sea takes us for a few days." Nodding in understanding he left the captain to and returned to his duties. Then the fairly tall man turned back towards the woman expecting a response.

"What do you want from me? And I believe you are a hypocrite. Tell me your name, we are having a conversation are we not?" Rhianwen sneered, staring defiantly into his eyes and trying to resist the near overwhelming urge to punch him.
"No you may not call me Rhia, I'm not some friend you can nickname!" hissed the girl, sword hand twitching as if to move to the sword at her hip. Rhianwen felt her nails dig into her palms, nearly growling at this..this infuriating man! "I said....put..me..back...on...shore...." demanded the distrustful young woman, glaring up at the taller figure. She was short, and this was one of the times she hated that fact.

Again ignoring the woman's first question he responded, "I apologize you would be right, my name is Genesis the Serpent King, a title I seem to have picked up over my travels for some reason." He was simply teasing the girl now and he could see that she was trembling from anger and it was spurring him on yet he decided he should probably stop at some point. His face turned to a slight frown when she told him his nickname for her was unacceptable, "That's unfortunate, I rather like the nickname I had given. I thought it was acceptable as well but oh well I see it was not." Then in response to her forceful demand he shook his head, "I'm afraid I cannot do that milady, we may not see land for another month or so if my mood dictates that to be," he replied calmly.

"Asshole, are you always this annoying? Or am I special? And why are you keeping me? What do you want?" Rhianwen was unable to contain her curiousity and annoyance, standing and poking him hard in the chest with her finger. "I deserve to know why I'm stuck on this ship in the middle of the ocean with an annoying stuck up man like you." protested the redhead. Snorting at his comment regarding her name and a nickname, Rhianwen folded her arms over her chest. "You have not earned the trust or the right to call me by a name so familiar and friendly."

Getting up off of the mast of the ship he made a head gesture for her to follow him as he walked towards the quarterdeck of the ship and he started, "The only reason you are on this ship is because you decided to be bold and I chose not to kill you. If you are unsatisfied with the outcome I suggest that for now on you either learn to control that fiery temper of yours, jump overboard or attempt to duel me again for your freedom in which I will truly fight you and kill you without hesitation." As he walked up the steps to the edge of the deck and leaned on the rail then finished, "Or you can be happy you still have have air in your lungs and make the most of your situation Rhianwen." His tone was one full or authority and absolution as if she had no choice in the matter. He knew she wouldn't like it but what other options did she have? Had she jumped off the boat when they had first set sail she would have been fine but by now the island was well out of sight and it would be easy to lose your sense of direction were a wave to push you off course. Whether she liked it or not she was stuck.

Rhianwen reluctantly followed the captain..this...serpent king.
Glaring at him, she couldn't bring herself to admit he was right. Stubborn to a fault, the female glared at him in defiance once more, daring him to try and even think of subduing her or treating her like a dainty, obedient little damsel.
"Once we get close enough to land, I will win my freedom from you, mark my words." Arms folded across her chest, Rhianwen looked down at her appearance sourly. "I don't supposse you have any britches or tunics and the like would you?"
