First off, this thread is specifically for Mai and Emma to post in, as the rewritten fairy tales are going to be done in Private RP form. Please, nobody else but Goblin Maiden and Emma Corrin post. Thank you.

And now, with all that out of the way... Yes! Let the (hopefully) awesome planning commence! Mai and Emma are scheming to recreate fairy tales THEIR way. What will result from their plotting?

Uhhh... For one thing, if we're planning on book-i-fying these, we can't go off of things from Disney... a little something called copyright. =P I thought we were doing the classic ones that nobody can copyright because either they're from folk tales or the copyrights have expired. =P

Anyways. I like the idea of doing Rapunzel for our first one! 8D

That's kind of why they were the majority of my list in visitor messages? ^.^;
And like I said - it would be the concept that's the same, not the story / storyline xD;
And half of Disney's are based on other books or from folk tales anyway xD;
(Ex. Alice in Wonderland, The Little Mermaid, and Aladdin)
But anywho Rapunzel works for me :)

And if we're doing tales you have in mind you're going to have to fill me in on them ^.^;
I know very few outside of Disney~

Okay, now that I look at it, I think the only one we can't do is Pocahontas. Because the actual historical stuff is just... WAY different from the movie. For one thing Pocahontas was a kid, not a grown woman, and stuff. So yeah. XD And that would throw me off because I don't support pedophiling. =P Although I love the movie itself. X3

ANYWAY. So yeah, since we're doing Rapunzel, that works. Hmmm... Apparently it's a Grimm tale. I have the complete Grimm Fairy Tales collection at home, so I can get that while I'm there for Thanksgiving break. 8D But obviously we don't want to wait that long.

As for Rapunzel - I LOVE that Fairy Tale - definitely one of my favorites <33

Have you got any ideas for the rewrite?
I'm thinking it should be more modern - to kind of shy away from it's original time period?
Or would it be weird in a parallel modern world?

No, I say we go for a different world\time period. 8D That's the point of rewrites, to create something different from a different point of view, right?

So any ideas as to setting, time period, technology, etc?

Well, first things first - do we want to have it be humans? Or do we want a different race?
If human - we could do something future-istic and have her be in a small world of her own, so to speak, in the sky that floats high above the gardens of the Witch's land~
If a different race, it would really depend upon which race we chose what we did with it lol

Oooh. Hmmm. Let's have it be humans only, since we've already got goblins and such in our other RP. ;D

And I LOVE the idea of like floating structures! A floating tower, a floating city, a floating garden? WHAT IF EVERYTHING FLOATED?!

Well, I think certain structures could float possibly cities themselves - but I think the vast majority should be kind of "rooted", so to speak, to the planet~
Like, perhaps the "prince" comes from a floating city - but while in the country visiting relatives, everything is rooted and that's kind of what draws him to the "tower"?
Because it's the only thing for miles that floats aside from the small gardens on the witch's land?
And perhaps he's not even a prince at all!
But a regular guy!
And maybe, instead of her being a common girl, she is the royalty!
Like, a Duchess or something!
Kind of switching the roles :3

AND WHAT IF IT WAS A GUY WHO WAS AN ENCHANTER INSTEAD OF A WITCH!
Perhaps he coveted a wife or a daughter of his own that would love and know only him, so he waited for an opportune moment and seized the girl (either a child or an infant) after a set of Royals murdered his old wife or daughter or something?
So it was more of a revenge thing, than a "you stole my flowers, gimme your kid >.>" kind of thing~

Maybe?

Hey, I like those ideas. 8D How about we make it so that "Rapunzel" is actually a guy? We don't HAVE to name him Rapunzel... Though we could, since it's actually a plant name and not a gender-specific name, right?

Hmm - if we did that, though, the last bit of my post wouldn't work in~
And how would there be a "Rapunzel Rapunzel let down your hair" sort of thing if it were a guy?
Surely he wouldn't have outrageously long hair - or would he?


Also - if we had it as a guy, we'd have to keep the enchanter as a girl - unless we wanted a Gay Enchanter romance going on?
(If we wanted to keep the whole revenge scenario mentioned in my previous post, that is)

I was thinking that we'd substitute something for the hair; that part of the story always struck me as being unrealistic anyway. Then again, it's a fairy tale, where is the realism supposed to be, but still. =P

We could have it be like an adoptive\foster father thing, then. Would that work? Like, raising him to be an enchanter in his stead, or something?

But what could we substitute?

As for the training/adoptive father - why would he banish him to a tower then if he were training him to take his place?

Maybe like... like, if the dude's an enchanter-in-training, then he could somehow channel his magic into a temporary tangible form? And that could be the "hair"? We could have it coming out of his head if you wanted. =P

To keep him from being "corrupted" by the rest of the world, maybe? You know those REALLY overprotective parents that never let their kids go out for fear they'll get boozed up or doped on crack or whatever? Yeah.

Hmmm - that works!
So he's sheltered and only knows his adopted father and only knows simple magic 'cause the enchanter doesn't trust him with bigger magic yet for fear he'll escape?

And we don't have to have it be hair - we could have it be something else - but it would have to be something that would still only allow the enchanter to climb up and down, not allow the boy to escape on his own :3

Hmmm... do they have to be climbing? Since they're floating and stuff, and the enchanter is powerful, how about he can fly? And flying could be one of the more difficult magic things to learn and plus he never taught it to his heir dude anyway?

No, I kid. But anyways, maybe it's like a magical artifact or something that enables flight? Hmmm, or not, if the enchanter doesn't want his heir to be too powerful yet... Uh, now this is getting hard.

She could find a way of her own, I guess, but HOW would be the question.

Ummm.. maybe at the city the girl comes from, they have little vehicle skate-board type thingies that they use instead of walking?
Maybe she could be out for a ride, stumble upon him, and then "float"/"ride" up to him?
But it's not big enough to hold two? It's petite enough only to hold her?

I LOVE that idea. So there could be a magical city and a technological city or something?

Like, say the enchanter was from a magical city, took the boy or whatever, then came to the country where -NOTHING- floats but that tower, and there is -NO- magic but his and the boys~
Kind of isolating them into a world of their own, ya know?

But the girl - she's from a technological city where EVERYTHING floats and so her "vehicle" or whatever you want to call it, is -designed- to be able to reach such heights easy-peasy~
Soooooo - she's able to go in and out just like that without the enchanter ever having a clue <3

Sooo.. We have that settled, right? You want to play the boy and I'll play the girl? You can be the enchanter too, if you're willing to be the guy.

Plot: In a futuristic world where magic and technology grow side by side, an Enchanter named ---- lives in the country with his adopted son / apprentice, raising him in a lonely tower high above the country meadows deep in a forest glade.

While the Enchanter himself lives in a cottage a mile away from the tower, but still in clear sight of it, ------ lives in the high sphere floating above the meadow. Living his life in solitude, ---- is under the pretense that the world is unsafe for an Enchanter; a world in which he is unwanted and unwelcome; a world of which he cannot be a part of and must always be foreign to. It is also why he must ‘never learn the dark magic’ and must ‘never learn the advanced arts’.

However, what if a technological Princess traveling to visit relatives residing in the country stumbled upon the only floating ‘building’ in the area by chance?
What if while on her stroll, she met the said boy and became secretly acquainted with him?
Could she save him from his life of solitude?
Would he believe her stories of the world around them?
Would the Enchanter find out, and sentence them to death?
What is to become of our fabled friends?

How does that sound?

...Why would they be sentenced to death? O__o;;; And... hmmm. I get the feeling that like... Wait, why does the enchanter dude have the heir if he's not planning to make anything of him? What's the point of keeping him locked up in the tower only to teach him the basics of magic?

Ooooh. Maybe the heir's secretly magicly powerful, and the enchanter is secretly sucking his power out of him all the time without him knowing?
