POEM STARTER:
It's pouring outside, and I hear police sirens. Next door people run out. Know their drill, a fire truck appears.
The kids and parents
have their fears...

How a fire burst
from this soggy suburban landscape
is anyone's guess,
the fire a few houses down
consuming and digesting
the wood, evaporating into ether
every time its tongue licked the window.
We stood in horror as it burned...

Bombs from cans Finally their namesake,
Burning bright against the night,
The paint fueling the power of the fire,
Is this about Nature?Or of Gang Fights?
Is this the manifestation of the community?
Lingering still in their fears?
In a house not far away stands a lil' Hispanic Boy watching,
and in his eyes are tears
